General Hospital Update for Friday, 1-Mar-2002

WOW-Friday’s are usually exciting on this soap and today was no exception. Looks like things are really starting to happen in several storylines…


WHEN I LOOK IN YOUR EYES:
While Roy sleeps, Felicia uses her Baby Blues and “I’m just a gullible woman who will believe anything a man promises” story to get the sheriff in close. Suddenly Roy is there and with one punch the Sheriff is out cold. The duo scrambles to get his keys as they hear some else approaching. When the deputy and Jennifer enter Roy and Felicia claim the sheriff must have had a heart attack. Jennifer is suspicious, and rightly so cause when the deputy bends down to check on the sheriff, the duo quickly slide the already unlocked cell door open and relive both the deputy and the sheriff of their guns. After putting the trio into a cell, Roy and Felicia study a map trying to figure out where Luke and Laura might have gone. They quickly rule out a couple of options, but the starting rain makes Roy realize any tracks they left will quickly be washed away…

LET THE TRUTH BE YOUR GUIDE:
In Sonny’s office, Johnny/Max/Adam (whichever) reports that there is still no sign of Courtney. Sonny orders them to keep searching. Zander shows up and tells Sonny he quits. Sonny talks him out of that notion by telling Zander that with Courtney still missing he needs to buy some time by getting Jax off his back for a while. Sonny wants Zander to go ahead and try to convince Jax that he has turned on Sonny. Telling the youngster that sticking as close to the truth as possible is always a good thing, they try to come up with a reason for Zander to turn on Sonny that Jax will believe. Sonny suggests that a good reason would be Carly. Zander is stunned for a moment (could Sonny know?) until Sonny says for him to convince Jax that Zander resents having to baby-sit her. Zander is relived and goes off with a promise to do his best and Sonny’s praise for his trustworthiness ringing in his ears…

HELP:
AJ arrives at Skye’s hotel suite and tells her Jax knows he has Courtney. Skye warns AJ that Jax is concerned for Courtney and will probably tell Sonny where she is. AJ assure her that he has situation in hand but needs HER to stop Jax from telling Sonny. Skye advises AJ to move Courtney ASAP. AJ refuses to lose any of the ground he has gained with Courtney despite Skye’s warnings of dire consequences. Skye finally goes off to do as AJ asked hoping she won’t regret it.

RECON MISSION 1:
At Club Carly office, Jax asks Carly what her ex-ex-hubby is capable of. Carly gives Jax the short version of her marriage. She also tells him that he has been acting out of character with Courtney since he realized she was Sonny’ sister. He has been more cold-blooded and calculating. She gives Jax some details about the night at Luke’s when AJ was sitting with Courtney doing his ‘poor little rich boy’ act. She also mentions the incident in the park when AJ ‘just happened’ to run into Courtney. She also tells him that later AJ all but admitted to that he would use Courtney if given the chance. When Jax makes the comment that maybe Court if better off with AJ than with Sonny, Carly tells him that Sonny is not perfect, but he does care about family. Example: despite his treatment of Mike, Sonny has yet to shut him completely out of his life and ALWAYS helps Mike when he needs it. The same with her and Michael, they will always be Sonny’s family and he will always take care of them the best he can. Carly assures Jax that Sonny feels the same way about Courtney. Wondering about Jax’s sudden interest, Carly asks if he knows something, but Jax claims he just needs to know more about AJ.

CAN BUY ME LOVE:
At AJ’s PH, Courtney finds a note from AJ at the breakfast table. Janine shows up and does a complete 180 on her attitude over AJ, which makes Courtney wonder why. Janine tells her daughter that she has seen the light (more like the $$$$$) and believes AJ is a good and decent RICH man, which is all she ever wanted for her little girl. Courtney confesses that she has never met anyone like AJ, but is confused about what to think and feel. Janine (with one eye on the BIG $$$$) advises Courtney to hold out for the wedding ring. AJ shows up with an important question to ask Courtney…
How does she feel about Manhattan? He has managed to get 3rd row seats to a Broadway show (much to Courtney’s delight), and even insists that Janine accompany them…

IN OVER OUR HEADS:
Luke wakes up with Sex on the Brain and tries to convince Laura that they were about to make love before. Laura is too worried about their safety to get snuggly at the moment, plus she wants to wait until AFTER they get married again. Luke takes advantage of their inability to leave to have a real discussion about their future. He tells her that it won’t always be like Beecher’s Corners-safe and secure. Occasionally it will be like now-dangerous and needing to be rescued by someone. Laura gives a display of jealousy over Felicia and it leads an open discussion about their post-breakup relationships with Stephan and Felicia. Luke tells Laura he hated seeing her dance with Stefan at the engagement party. Laura assures him that she only turned to Stefan in the beginning out of desperation-she would never choose him under normal circumstances. Luke tells Laura that in retrospect he now sees why he was drawn to Felicia-because she reminded him of Laura. They both profess their love again then turn their minds to the more immediate problem. Luke assures Laura that Roy will not stop looking for them until he finds them. Laura says she would feel better if they at least had some water and presto in begins to trickle some water. Luke realizes that it must be raining and begins to get a better look at the shaft they are in. He then tells Laura that apparently the rain water drains into that shaft then points out the previous water-level marks on the walls-FIFTEEN feet above their heads…

RECON MISSION 2:
Skye arrives at Carly’s office looking for Jax. Carly informs her that if she is looking for him to help AJ, it’s too late. Skye tries to leave, but upon seeing her reaction, Carly restrains her and demands to know what AJ is up to. Skye demands Carly unhand her, to no avail and they appear headed for a real knock’em down, drag’em out fight (or at least the female version) when Zander interrupts and separates them…
(Too bad cause I think Carly may have been able to take her).

EVEN-STEVEN:
After Zander leaves his office, Sonny looks to make sure no one is around, then slowly pulls open a desk drawer and removes something tucked into the corner…
His wedding ring. After holding it a few moments, reading the engraving and smiling fondly in memory, he tucks it back into the drawer. Jax shows up and Sonny tells him he doesn’t have time to for him right now. Jax comments that he was trying to return the favor Sonny did when he helped Jerry, by helping with Courtney, but if Sonny’s not interested…(as he starts to walk away). In typical Sonny fashion, he doesn’t apologize but demands Jax tell him if he knows where Courtney is. Jax simply answers, “AJ has her”…
(WOW! Could this lead to truce between these two?)

GH DATELINE:
3/4: AJ adds more lies and trouble to his resume.
3/5: Carly and Zander have a heart to heart about their kiss; Zander tells her he has a date for her opening night gala.
3/6: Jax blows his top at Skye. He also gives a huge surprise regarding ELQ.
3/7: Sonny visits Elizabeth, he may help her recall the accident.
3/8: Kristina warns Alexis.
3/11: Carly's Club Opens...Alexis is up to something!
3/12: Alexis decides on her living arrangements and her love life.
3/13: Will Kristina and Ned heed Edward's advice and start thinking about wedding bells? Watch for Elton!

SCOOPS:
Sarah decides to explore the tunnels at Wyndemere--and finds that the tunnels are not what they seem!
Edward wants Kristina and Ned to tie the knot.
Jax continues to try and give Courtney warnings about AJ.
Luke and Laura continue to face danger.
Roy and Felicia continue to team up and help them--will it lead to more?
As AJ tries to get Courtney to NYC, his plans falter.
Carly is surprised to learn that Zander has a date for her club opening.
Sonny goes to AJ's to find Courtney and things turn violent.
Jax gives Skye a jolt.
Edward stuns AJ--he wants him to help with ELQ!
Carly's club will open on March 11th. The opening is set to be exciting-Look for fireworks, in more ways than one!
Looks like AJ just might be falling for Courtney after all. When Sonny discovers where Courtney is and comes crashing in, AJ finally realizes he has Sonny right where he's always wanted him, but he will have to choose between revenge and love...and it won't prove easy.
Sonny will also have to do some thinking. He will seek out Elizabeth and in doing so, realize he's made a horrible mistake.
Skye realizes her relationship with Jax is doomed as a result of her helping AJ. She is destroyed.
Taggert finally gets a girl! A young woman has been cast to be Tagg's lady love. No word on how long she'll stay so enjoy it while it lasts.
Thanks to all the fans who’ve sent cards and letters, we'll be seeing more of our Evil Empress Helena in March.
Sarah meets someone interesting at the hospital. Could this be her Doc in shining armor?
Lila makes a big decision.

NEWS:
New Casting for Maxie Scorpio! She'll be older, wiser and MUCH more of a handful for her mother, Felicia. Danica Stewart will take over the role of Maxie March 13th.
Loren Freeman (Elton) IS listed on the Daytime Emmy Award nomination ballot. We wish him GREAT luck!
Susan Diol will once again fill in for NLG in March. Seems Nancy got pneumonia and had to miss some taping. Susan appears as Alexis on March 13th & 14th. NLG returns on March 19th.
SID reports that Christian Slater’s brother, Ryan, will play Cody, a friend of Maxie's on 3/13.
There is also a hint on the SID website of a surprising GH recast to be named in the issue coming out March 5th.
SOW reports that this year (although a long shot) BOTH Tamara Braun and Sarah Brown COULD be nominated for Daytime Emmy awards for same role. (Seems Braun submitted her name in the Lead Actress category and Brown is contenting as a Supporting Actress. It remains to be seen if either actress will actually get the nod. But we want to wish them both luck!)
Watch for a brand new lay out and design of Soap Opera Weekly magazine.

The Soap Opera Digest Award Ballots will be out next month, but word is that there will probably be no telecast again this year.
The Daytime Emmy nominations will be announced on March 13 or 14. The awards will be presented on May 17. No confirmation on a location.
Leslie Charleston and Stuart Damon WILL NOT leave their roles as Alan and Monica. It was Just a nasty rumor, folks!

Lots of rumors everywhere; but which are true?...I don't care!
Word is now that Sarah Webber is back, her and Liz' brother just might pop up as well.
David Letterman is being woo'ed by the ABC execs! If this happens, look for a "Dave Crossover" week on daytime. He would make several guest appearances on all ABC soaps, starting with General Hospital.
There is a buzz that despite denials, Bob Guza is penning some GH storylines for spring. McTavish may quietly walk away from GH in the spring.
Its getting near time for a shootout--but which GH set will be the next OK Corral? Could it possibly be Carly's new club on opening night?
Lucky is going to finally make a commitment-- to a career… as a bodyguard to Sonny.
Helena passes go and gets out of jail free.
Helena hooks up with Jennifer Smith to go after Luke and Laura.
More oldies have to make room for newbies---watch for decruitment and uninstallation of some long time GH'rs.
Elizabeth decides to go back to college and finish her degree.
The painting Liz sends to Jason lures him back to PC.
Watch for Roy and Felicia start to get very close, especially with their upcoming storyline!
Remember our concern over the Port Charles 6month-on 6-month off schedule? The first rumor has hit the fan on this! It seems GH might give up it's primo spot next season to make way for Port Charles/ABC's new Reality show slot . Word has it that GH may air at earlier, with AMC and OLTL to follow. We'll have to wait and see just how this plays out!
Is AJ scamming COURTNEY or is little Courtney scamming AJ??!

AJ proposes to Courtney; is she ready?
Not only will there be an interracial romance on GH; it will involve a MUCH younger costar with a leading male hottie!
