General Hospital Update for Friday, 25-Jan-2002

Sorry it took so long to post this. This episode was filled with emotional scenes and it was a bit difficult (not to mention long) to write. Hope you enjoy it...

WYNDEMERE…
Nik is angry and upset that Lucky burned the letter from Stavros. Lucky can't believe Nik is falling for Stavros' claims of love. Lucky points out Stavros’ faults including that he tried to seduce Gia knowing she was Nik’s girl. Nik tries to explain that Stavros saved his life and told him that he loved him. Lucky says he understands why Nik wants to believe, but insists that it doesn’t erase all the horrible things that Stavros did. Lucky assures Nik that he's only trying to protect him from more pain. Nik retreats emotionally, claiming too much work, despite Lucky’s reminder that he agreed to spend the evening with Liz and him.

KELLY’S (Liz’s room)…
Despite some not-so-subtle put-downs, Liz is happy for Gia when Gia announces she and Nik have been invited to a charity concert and will be hob-knobbing with royalty. Gia manages to come down from her high tower long enough to wish Liz luck on her date.

HARBORVIEW TOWERS(Parking Garage)…
Courtney demands that Sonny call his men off of AJ, which Sonny promptly does. AJ (out to impress Courtney) brushes the whole thing off as a misunderstanding. Alexis is willing to let the matter drop, but Skye makes an issue of it, by bringing up the incident in the warehouse. Courtney is shocked to hear that Sonny had AJ kidnapped and forced him to sign away his son. Still, she is willing to believe Sonny-if he denies it. Mac and Taggart (since when does the commish answer an assault call personally?) arrive in answer to Skye’s call. However no one will back up Skye’s claim that Sonny’s men assaulted her brother-including AJ himself, who claims Skye just over-reacted. With a warning to Skye to stop making false 911 calls, Mac and Taggart have no choice but to leave. AJ kicks his plan in to high gear by claiming he wants to let bygones be bygones; he even make the first move toward peace; by offering the mobster a handshake. Courtney wants Sonny to thank AJ for avoiding trouble with the PCPD. But, Sonny knows exactly what AJ is doing. Still, he refuses to thank AJ or shake his hand. After the Q siblings leave, Courtney tells Sonny that she thinks he is a monster.

CLUB CARLY…
Carly gives Zander fashion advice and tells him he has to look like he has money if he is going to steal Courtney from A.J. Zander declines to participate in Carly’s scheme, even for Sonny’s sake. Carly assures Zander that Courtney would choose him over AJ-after all Zander is younger and better looking. Zander tells Carly he would just about anything for her but not this. Carly says then she will have to try and warn the girl herself-again. Zander points out that Courtney will not take her advice any better now than she did before. Carly thanks Zander for being such a good friend and for stopping her from making a fool of herself. She goes on to say that Sonny probably wouldn’t appreciate it anyways, since he no longer cares what she does. Her 'poor little me' attitude prompts Zander in to confessing that he's been looking out for Carly-on orders from Sonny-since he first befriended her.

WYNDEMERE…
Laura arrives and interrupts her son’s disagreement. Lucky is concerned to learn that Luke did not return with Laura. Lucky leaves as he is already running late for his date with Liz. Laura asks Nik what's really going on. Nik explains about Liz and Lucky trying again. Laura is not fooled and wants to know why he and Lucky were arguing. Nik dismisses it as a minor disagreement over fashion. Laura tells Nik she knows about Stefan’s move to Milan. Laura tries (not-too-subtlety) to get Nik to see that he does not have to follow in the tradition of taking over the estate. She even goes as far as suggesting Stefan would return-if Nik will call him. Nik asks Laura if she thinks he is not capable if running the estate. No, says Laura, she only made the suggestion so that Nik and Gia would have a chance to enjoy each other before he takes on the overwhelming duties. Nik tells his mother that he will not ASK Stefan to give up his freedom, after every thing his uncle has already done for him. He assures Laura the pressures of prince-hood will not drag him down, then invites her to dinner to prove it. But, before they can leave Laura overhears Nik on the phone. He is being such a hard-nosed businessman, that she is taken aback by how much he reminds her of Stavros.

KELLY’S (Liz’s room)…
Lucky finds Gia in Liz’s room when he arrives and tells her he is worried about Nik. He goes on to explain about the letter and Nik's reaction to his burning it. Lucky is surprised when Gia comes down on Nik's side by saying Nik had a right to keep the letter. Lucky tells her he is sure the letter wasn’t from Stavros, but another trick courtesy of Helena. Gia tells Lucky that she got to know Stavros enough to believe that a small part of him really cared for his son. She goes on to explain that Nik lives in fear of turning in to his father, and is constantly guarding against it. Lucky warns her that Nik will follow in the Cassadine tradition of evil, as long he is in control of the estate. Gia assures Lucky that Nik wants only to do good with his money.

HARBORVIEW TOWERS(Sonny’s PH)
Courtney asks Sonny to be honest with her about who he really is. Sonny pretty much evades the question and only says his life is complicated; he make choices that involve compromises; business he doesn’t talk about, and questions he can’t answer-all to protect the people in his life-which now includes her. Courtney takes this to mean that Skye’s claim is true. Sonny attempts to make Courtney see that AJ is using her but she doesn’t believe him. Courtney’s continued defense of AJ, especially when she mentions the lost baby, pushes Sonny into unleashing his emotions. Sonny swipes his hand over the table, knocking glasses to the floor, while he is yelling at her to stop defending AJ. Courtney is obviously shaken and Alexis agrees to escort her back across the hall-at Sonny’s suggestion. Mike arrives and wants to know what is going on. Courtney tells Mike 'it's nothing-my brother just ordered me to leave the room". When Mike tells Courtney she can do what ever she wants she begs him to let her live with him. Mike claims his place is too small and in a bad neighborhood to boot. Sonny gives Mike money so that he can move to a bigger, better place. Courtney goes to pack, but Mike stays behind and lays in to Sonny for his treatment of Courtney. Mike tells Sonny that although he himself is deserving of Sonny’s coldness, he won’t stand by and let Sonny punish Courtney too. As Mike slams out of the apartment, Sonny drops his face into his hand and tries to stop the trembling of his lips, and the tears from leaving his eyes…

KELLY’S(Liz’s room)
Liz returns to her room and a waiting Lucky. From a paper bag she produces a disposable camera so they can make new ‘memories” on their evening together. Lucky protest that he has a perfectly good ‘expensive’ one at home, but Liz insists it’s better if they don’t think about the past or future and concentrate on just having fun.

AJ’S APARTMENT…
AJ wants to savor his victory but Skye acts appalled with him for using Courtney’s pain to his advantage. She tells AJ that he may have pushed Sonny too far this time. Skye tells AJ that she thinks he is acting like he is on a ‘three day drunk’ and warns him will fall-hard. AJ refuses to give up and asks Skye to believe in him. AJ tells Skye that he is going to beat Sonny at his own game, by being more noble and generous than the mobster. He is sure he can beat Sonny this time because Sonny won’t risk alienating his sister. Plus, he’s got it all mapped out. He tells Skye that soon Courtney will knock on the door to apologize for her brother’s actions. AJ tries very hard to convince Skye (or maybe himself) that he is doing Courtney a favor by giving her options. Shortly, just as predicted and much to Skye's amazement, Courtney shows up at AJ's door.

HARBORVIEW TOWERS(Sonny’s PH)…
Alexis returns, however she doesn’t have to tell Sonny that Mike and Courtney have left, as it’s obvious that Sonny already knows. Knowing Sonny would prefer to be alone Alexis makes her excuses and heads toward the door until a remark from Sonny draws her back. Sonny tells Lexi she doesn’t have to leave, he hasn’t forgotten what she did, and still doesn’t think it was right, but (shrugs his shoulders). Lexi is quite droll as she answers, “Thanks for reminding me, but I got it the first time!” Sonny goes on to confide that he knew this day would come, but he had hoped to have time for his sister to get to know him, and maybe even trust him. He says there were (ugly) things he didn’t want Courtney to know about him. He knows that he frightened her with his outburst. When Lexi suggests that Sonny tell Courtney these things himself, Sonny says he can’t. Alexis assure him he can change; in fact they can all benefit by learning to express their feelings like grownups, instead of letting them build up until they explode. She’ll go first and show him how-by telling him how she really feels about him!

Carly reacts to Zander’s announcement that he befriended her on Sonny’s orders.

Sonny fires Zander.

AJ continues to get into Courtney's good graces; he tries to give her a lot of money.

Gia declines her Deception contract after over hearing remarks made by Nikolas and Laura.

Sarah Webber makes her entrance and disrupts a Liz/Lucky date.

Sarah tells her sister she is back for good...and Liz is not happy.

Carly hires Zander to work at her club. Zander is flattered and tries to tell Carly his true feelings. Alas, Sonny changes his mind and rehires the younger man. Zander accepts and decides to keep mum on his feelings.

Scotty goes to Bobbie for comfort.

Is Melissa lying?? She gets her job back, but Roy is concerned when he hears Melissa sweet talk Edward. He goes to Laura for advice.

Edward calls Skye to the hospital, (interrupting a hot Jax Moment!) then proceeds to blackmail his grandaughter. Skye tells everyone that Edward is going to be CEO of ELQ. In return, Edward won't spill about her plans for Jax.

Skye gets a photo; Jax goes to have it out with Sonny. It wasn't Sonny that sent the pic however; it was AJ!

Gia gets jealous of a Sarah.

Elizabeth gets in Sarah's face about her behavior with Nikolas.

Audrey causes Elizabeth to feel that old "second best" again by her actions towards Sarah.

A banker thinks Nikolas looks an awful lot like his father. Nikolas fears that his father is indeed, alive: IN HIM!

AJ tells Sonny that Courtney is his neighbor.

Sonny has a fit when he realizes how close she is to his enemy. Courtney is at dinner with Mike and Janine when Sonny storms in to tell off Mike. Courtney flees with Mike's keys.

NEW FACES?...
Seems GH is looking for a 20-something with angst to play opposite Rebecca Herbst. The character's name will be Aidan. No other details are available. One has to wonder however, if this news backs up the rumor of JY leaving to persue his singing career.

There's also talk of a new Doctor in town...with a recurring role. Joe Michael Burke will play the unnamed character.

NEWS...
SoapNet celebrates Valentine’s Day and the rocky road of love with a 5-hour marathon titled “Soap’s Biggest Heartbreaks”. The marathon will air Sunday February 10th 1:30 pm ET/PT, and will feature some of Soaps most heartbreaking moments including these memorable GH episodes…
Luke’s return from near death and paralysis to find new love Holly, MARRIED to his best friend.
Stone Cates’ (AIDs-related) death in the arms of true love Robin Scorpio.

SALLY STRUTHERS will play Jennifer Smith; Luke's old flame.

WITH the return of Jennifer SMITH and a certain Zander SMITH in town, one can't help putting 2 and 2 together. Will Luke?
AJ will get his son back, one way or another!
THE DARK PRINCE will be all that; just as dark and brooding as his father, if not worse. Will HIS obsession be Sarah?
A LOVE interest for Marcus Taggert may finally appear!
GOOD GUY goes bad. Nik Cassadine will slowly change before our eyes.....
SKYE exits on the heels of Melissa's death?
AJ is the only one that can save Mikey. But how?
MAJOR talks are in the works regarding the Port Charles move to a 6 month schedule. Some actors have contracts they want honored, and it just might be done by bringing them back to GH. (Perhaps that's why a certain writer was just hired???) If so, some of the actors on GH are understandably worried; there's just not room for everyone!
