General Hospital Update for Thursday, 17-Jan-2002

At GH, Melissa's anxious hovering over her patient-Edward, sets Amy's gossipy tongue wagging.

Relying on her own experience, Carly advises Zander not to question Sonny about how he handled Roscoe. She also tells him that Sonny would be just as happy if he chose to go to school. Zander tells her he is where he wants to be, doing what he wants to do. However, his injuries interfere with his attempt to help Carly straighten up her office. She nags him until he agrees to go to the doctor.

At the Q house, Monica barks out orders over the phone, then heads to GH. Skye wants to go to the hospital with her father. But upset over Edward’s health, Alan accuses Skye of causing Edward's latest health crisis. As Skye reels from the impact of Alan's words, A.J. tries again to defend her.

Sonny brings Courtney to Kelly’s where they run into Liz on a date with Lucky. Courtney sheepishly admits to Sonny how she tried to steal money from Gia when she first came to town. Sonny surprises Courtney with his support, then introduces his sister to a surprised Lucky and Liz. The siblings attempt to bond is interrupted when Carly arrives. While Sonny places their order at the counter, Carly and Courtney literally bump into each other, which results in damage to Carly’s phone. Recognizing her from Luke’s, Carly picks an argument with Courtney, then learns she is Sonny’s sister. Carly attempts to apologize, but Courtney bolts by inventing an errand. Carly helps herself to Courtney’s lunch and tells Sonny about Courtney's budding friendship with A.J.

Edward regains consciousness as Monica arrives to assess the damage. Monica urges him to let Lila visit. Edward takes this as a sign that he is dying. Alan overhears and takes the opportunity to tell his father that he does love him.

Liz and Lucky have an evening of ice-skating in the park. They are playful and happy and seem to be headed for romance. Until, Lucky admits that he doesn’t feel they same way he did on a previous similar outing. Liz withdraws and urges Lucky to take her home, despite his wish to continue the date with dinner at Eli’s.

Nik continues to worry about Lucky and Liz, but Gia distracts him with some creative romancing. Gia locks herself and Nik in a room together and playfully persuades Nikolas to put aside his business and concerns and concentrate solely on her for a while.

On his way to get an x-ray, Zander bumps into Alan, who assumes Zander has come to see Edward and harrass him. Zander expresses concern about Edward's health, not because he cares but becuase Edward's death would cause Emily pain. Alan mentions he might bring Emily home becuase of Edward's condition, but asks Zander not to approach Emily if he does. Zander says he would only see Emily if SHE asked. Before departing, Zander tells Alan that though he might not like Edward, he respects him because he understands that Edward's actions are about protecting his family.

A.J. warns his sister that the entire family will blame her if their grandfather dies. Skye is stunned by A.J.'s cold, uncaring attitude toward Edward’s condition. She seems further appalled by his eagerness to move on with his plans to get what he wants. Shaken by Alan’s words and A.J. attitude, Skye heads out to a meeting with her support group. At the hospital, however she runs into Melissa existing Edward’s room. Skye accuses Melissa of causing Edward’s attack. She also implies that Melissa can’t wait to get her hands on the money.

A lonely Courtney observes two young women bonding over fashion in the park. After they depart, Courtney hugs herself and walks over to the swings they vacated. Suddenly she feels someone approaching, she looks up and sees A.J. walking towards her.
