General Hospital Update for Friday, 21-Dec-2001

THE MORNING AFTER…
(At GH)
Bobbie (check in hand) thanks Jax for his generosity, as the check will pay for gifts for EVERY child in the ward. Skye approaches as Jax hands Bobbie another (blank) check and tells HER to fill in the name of a patient who really needs the help. Skye coyly says, “Well, now that you’ve made a strangers dream come true, how about working on mine?”. Jax tells Ms.C-Q that he was having a PRIVATE conversation with Bobbie and if she’ll wait he’ll deal with her next. Skye is put out, but waits. Once she does have Jax’s attention, things don’t go as planned. Jax looks over her notes, but quickly tells her HE has another appointment and she should call and MAKE ONE so they can meet and discuss ELQ.

Alan thanks Monica for sacrificing some of her own peace of mind to give him a special Christmas with his long-lost daughter. Moping around the mansion, a dispirited Edward grumbles about the family's betrayal, which will inevitably lead to Jax taking control of ELQ. Tried of his long face, Monica gives him a few home truths, about ALL he should be grateful for and storms off, with Alan hot on her heels. Ned arrives and tries to cheer Edward, but the older man will have none of it. Skye arrives, still in a snit over Jax’s treatment, THIS of course cheers Edward. He taunts her again, by saying Jax used her. When Skye starts in on him again, Edward points out that she has already hurt him so it’s time to turn on her next victim, like Monica. Skye admits that she did invite her Mother to Christmas just to get at Monica. Rae overhears this from the doorway, and quickly tells her daughter that she will NOT participate in ruining Christmas.

TELL IT LIKE IT IS…
(The Club)
Carly is in the office, going over some of the answers (according to Jax) to possible question from the City Commissioners. Mike arrives and asks if she has had any luck in finding Janine. Carly encourages Mike to come clean with his son before it's too late to make amends. After Mike leaves, Jax gives Carly some last minute instructions, which she promptly forgets the instant one of the city commissioners makes a snide remark about her connections to organized crime. She blasts him, by telling them that Sonny is now her EX-husband and has nothing to do with the project. She says it doesn’t matter to if they turn her down, she will just open her club elsewhere. Then says she will go public about how they (the ELECTED officials) cost the area jobs, improvements, so on & so forth. After they leave, Carly apologies to Jax, and says she understands if he wants to back out of the deal. Jax surprises her by saying he was impressed with her reasoning and her passion for the deal.

STUCK ON YOU…
(At GH)
Bobbie tries to reassure Monica that she has nothing to fear from Rae, but apparently doesn’t manage to convince her. Meanwhile, flattered but confused by Ned's attentions, Kristina wonders if her sister's former fiancé is hitting on her. She confides in Gia, who encourages her to give Ned a chance-IF Alexis has moved on. Rae arrives and tells Alan she is not staying, since Skye doesn’t really want her there. Alan responds by telling Rae that Skye is just pretending to be tough, and pleads with Rae to stay. Unfortunately, Monica over hears THAT part of the conversation.

I HONESTLY LOVE YOU…
(The Midnight Star)
Aboard the cruise ship, Luke presents Laura with a gourmet breakfast and with a replica of the very first ring he ever gave her, a cigar band (flashback to twenty odd years ago). Laura compares the ring to their relationship, romantic, but impractical and NOT made for the long haul. Luke disagrees and presents Laura with a DIAMOND ring. Later, Luke throws a surprise birthday party for Laura in her stateroom. Laura asks Luke for more time to consider his proposal. To her surprise, Luke quickly agrees to give her all the time she needs. He lovingly tells her that even if she turns him down, she’ll ALWAYS be the LOVE OF HIS LIFE (It was sooooo sweet, I had tears in my eyes). She disembarks at the next port and boards a plane for home. But Luke isn’t through with his surprises; he is in the seat next to hers. As the plane takes off, they clasp hands and smile lovingly at each other. (I don’t know about you, but I see a wedding in the future for these two).

WE ARE FAMILY…
(Sonny’s Penthouse)
Zander brings Courtney to the penthouse to meet Sonny, who carefully questions the girl about her connection to Janine. Reacting to her host's name with obvious fear and dread, Courtney wonders aloud what business her mother could possibly have with such a man. To put her at ease Sonny offers to call the girl’s father so that she can let someone know where she is. Courtney tells Sonny that her father is dead. Janine arrives and tries to usher Courtney out quickly, so that she can speak privately with Sonny. Courtney refuses at first, but does eventually agree to wait for Janine in the lobby. As she prepares to leave, Mike is in the hall asking to see Sonny. Stunned when Mike barges in, Courtney calls out to her "daddy" as Sonny and Janine look on.
