General Hospital Update for Friday, 30-Nov-2001

Unlike most Fridays, today's episode was rather slow, but it did have a few interesting moments that could lead to something…

GET OVER IT:
Scott visits Bobbie at the brownstone and seeks advice on getting over the woman he loved and lost. She gets him to help her paint while she states the obvious: -NO ONE has the perfect life they imagined. Does that mean they should stand around and whine? NO!! Deal with it, and move on!

WHO AM I?:
In the maze Nikolas is taken aback when an arm reaches out of the (bottomless) pit Stavros fell into. As he peers down, he encounters Luke, who glibly says, "Are you going to help me? Or where you expecting someone else?" Nik is hostile at first but Luke offers some useful advice to help him deal with the nagging question of his identity. Amoung others there are things like…"You ARE what you DO" "Crime DOES pay" "The best things in life AREN'T free" and Luke's personal favorite "Love ISN'T blind".

STOAWAYS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS:
After landing in a backwater Louisiana town, Jax explains to an appalled Skye that he came down to the bayou for a taste of the area's famous (FRIED) catfish and hush puppies. Skye, outraged that her plans have been put on hold for FOOD, insults very thing, including the nice young waitress who greets Jax fondly. Jax dares Skye to try the cuisine. Later, he informs her that they must spend the night in the local motel as they've been grounded! Skye refuses until Jax tells her where the bus stop is and warns her to watch out for the GATORS…they come out at night to feed!

THE BEGINNING OF A STRANGE FRIENDSHIP?:
After helping to permanently seal the trap door, Nik surprises Luke by inviting him out for a drink. Luke has something to do first, but agrees to meet Nik at Jake's.

HOME ALONE:
At Deception, Laura tells a sympathetic Elton that she and Scott have broken off their romance. Later at home, Lulu cheerfully suggests that Laura marry Luke now that she's no longer interested in Scott. Laura mentions to a curious Leslie that she could have the perfect man, with a Luke-Scott hybrid! After Lulu goes on a sleepover, Laura starts to unpack Christmas decorations, but each ornament brings memories of the past (Well Duh! there are pictures of her and Luke on some). She decides to get out for a while. Out on the docks, her loneliness is reinforced by the gaiety of the season and couples around. When someone touches her on the shoulder, she reacts instinctively by swinging around and hitting him with her (rather large) purse. On the ground, her would be assailant holds his head and looks up at her…
it's Luke!

THE GAME IS STILL AFOOT:
At the Q house Edward is taken aback when A.J. gleefully reports that he is still one step ahead of his grandfather's scheme to hustle Janine out of town. Jr. claims to have Janine stashed somewhere even Sonny couldn't find her (did Kelly's suddenly move?). A.J. continues to heckle his grandfather with threats of Edward's imminent fall. Edward attempts to lure A.J. to his side with a GUARANTEED offer to run ELQ, and warnings that Skye will turn on him in the end. A.J. sees through the empty offer and refuses,-"I used to think you were holding back, but now I see you don't have anything to offer-YOU'RE EMPTY".

THE TRUTH HURTS:
At the motel, Skye accuses Jax of inventing the plane's mechanical problem just to punish her. Jax reads Skye the riot act for her bratty behavior, "I'd rather spend the night in the swamp then another minute in your unpleasant company. You're rude, obnoxious and lack charm of any kind. It's no wonder your OWN family hates you. Say what you will about Edward, but at least he's entertaining!" Later, he hears her sobbing (loudly) in the next (connecting) room and regrets his harsh words. He calls through the door to her, but she tells him to leave her alone. Jax ignores her, opens the connecting door and finds (a scantily clad) Skye sitting on the bed sniffling!

NEWS:
Stephen Nichols has chosen to leave General Hospital and the part of Stefan Cassadine to pursue other opportunities in both television and film. He will be leaving at the first of the New Year.
(I, for one, wish to thank him for his hard work and enjoyable performance and wish him the best of luck in his future projects!)

Jax gives up the jet-setting life and becomes a bartender to be close to his new love-CARLY.

Ned and Alexis will reunite in 2002 and quietly marry after all.
Jax finds himself quite smitten with Courtney.

Jax rebuffs Courtney after learning her connection to Sonny.

Jax gets closer to Skye
Carly seeks Sonny- she learns that he is in Puerto Rico with Alexis.
Felicia has some advice for Scott about Laura.
When Jax tries to offer Skye some comfort, she turns the tables and gives him grief.
Luke and Laura are obviously hiding their true feelings for each other from each other. Luke does learn that Laura declined to marry Scott, and wants to know her reasons, but she doesn't tell him what he hopes to hear, nor is the reason she gives him true to her heart.
Luke recalls the past he and Laura shared so closely. He decides to attend Nik and Gia's party. Laura is emotional about him showing up and he asks his ex-wife to dance. While dancing and holding each other close the eye contact says it all- that they still love each other. Luke decides right then and there to get Laura back, and make their family complete again.
Luke hatches a plan.
Jax wants Carly's full attention on their new club project and off of Sonny. He sweeps her off her feet into a dance to get her to stop thinking about his rival.
Meanwhile, Skye is delighted that Jax gave her his ELQ Proxy and she sticks up for him to Edward.
Later, Skye sees Jax and Carly together and her jealousy and insecurity are apparent again. She takes off and later taunts Carly that Jax is just using her to get back at Sonny.
