1. Mac’s Office at PCPD - “Two Heads are Better than the Entire Police Department” - Over Chinese take-out, Mac shows Felecia the 11 suspect files in the Sorrel murder case. He says Melisa Bedford is at the top of his list because of her brother being killed by Sorrel. But how did a thread from Roy’s shirt get on Sorrel’s respirator? he wonders. And then there’s Angel. But Sonny is the most important suspect, Felecia points out. Mac agrees he had two motives: revenge and territory. Then there’s Alan & Monica Quartermaine, who had motive and medical know-how. Mac also mentions Carly and Bobbie. Felecia says Carly, maybe, but Bobbie, no way. A frustrated Mac says, “This case is a nightmare - multiple suspects, conflicting evidence, and no way to force a confession (excuse me, isn’t that how a lot of police cases are - stop whining, police commissioner - you wanted the job, AGAIN). Felecia thinks she has a way to get the guilty person away from the rest of the field. We don’t hear all the details of her plan but Mac approves and says it’s great working with her again.
2. Melisa’s Apartment - “Mutual Love” - Roy is upset that he can’t do anything to help Luke. He starts to leave with some half-cocked idea about “getting in Helena’s face.” Melisa begs him to stay, saying she loves him too much to lose him. She pleads with him to stay safe now so he will be ready to help Luke later. Just for tonight, she says, let me love you, please. Roy tells her she’s brought light into the darkness of his life. He thought he’d be trapped in his guilt and regret until the day he died, but he sees hope and grace in her eyes. He says he loves her, too. They stare lovingly at each other.
3. Jax’ Suite - “A Popular Guy” - Skye goes to see Jax to try to convince him to join forces with her against Sonny. She points out that they both hate the man and asks Jax to help her get Sonny’s stock away from him. Jax turns her down, saying “You’re greedy and manipulative and those are your good qualities.” All flattery over, Skye curses him and leaves just as Angel arrives. Jax immediately tells Angel he hopes she’s given up on Sonny. Angel admits that at one point she wanted more of a relationship with Jax, but then she realized he was still in love with Brenda. Still, their friendship gives him no right to tell her who she can be with. She says she likes Sonny but doesn’t need him; in fact, she is over him, yes. Jax and she toast to good times - past and future.
4. Quartermaine Mansion - “A.J., thank goodness you’re okay, now go to a meeting before you end up in the gutter again” - Edward, Alan and Monica all assume A.J. was off on a bender. A.J. almost tells them what really happened, when Skye comes in and stops him. She tells the family that A.J. has agreed to go to a meeting with her. After the elder Q’s leave, she tells A.J. that he can’t tell his parents; Alan might overreact and get hurt by Sonny. Then she fills him in on her meeting with Jax; he won’t help bring Sonny down. She swears she’ll find another way to make Sonny pay. The other Q’s return, Edward leading the way with criticisms of A.J. Skye tells him to be nice to her brother or she’ll tell everyone where he was the night of Sorrel’s murder. A lot of stares all around.
5. Alexis’ Penthouse - “Put the Idea in their Head . . .” Carly blows up about Sonny spending the night with Alexis. Sonny says it has nothing to do with their divorce. He’s there to protect Alexis; Carly doesn’t believe him. Carly says she will always be grateful to him for getting A.J. to sign away his parental rights, but she doesn’t want him to adopt her son. Alexis accuses her of using her child. Sonny says he needs it to be legal so Michael can know he can always count on him. We’re both selfish, he tells Carly, but we can’t be selfish about him. Carly instantly goes against that bit of advice by saying, “You can have what you want if I can have what I want.” Sonny says his mind is made up about the divorce. Carly asks Alexis for a new set of papers (she tore up the others). While she’s out of the room, she and Sonny talk more. Sonny explains that it would not be good for Michael to grow up in a house of tension between his parents. He says he’ll put a guard on her and Michael. Carly says, “Alexis gets you, and I’m stuck with Adam or Johnny?” She storms out. An awkward moment passes when Alexis wonders aloud how Carly could think there’s anything between them. She tells Sonny that Carly actually has a point about the divorce; wouldn’t it be easier if they reconcile? Sonny says that Carly can’t accept the secrets in his life, and it wouldn’t be fair of him to ask her to. He’d kill the “Carly-ness” in her. With them apart, his life is under control. Alexis says she understands keeping everything in nice compartments; sometimes you end up alone in one of those compartments. Alexis gives Sonny sheets, a blanket and a pillow for the couch and goes upstairs to bed. Later, a restless Sonny stares out the window and groans Carly’s name. Upstairs, Alexis tosses and turns. She goes downstairs to give Sonny an extra pillow. He gets up from the couch and kisses her. Their passion builds, his p.j. shirt is off, things are getting hot and heavy and . . . Alexis sits bolt upright in bed, saying “Oh, my God!” to find Sonny in her doorway staring at her and wondering just what kind of dream she had. Boy, is she embarrassed.
6. Carly's House - "Can Never Find a Pen When You Need One" - Bobbie comes by and agrees with Carly that Sonny adopting Michael is maybe not the best way to show his love. Carly says she just left him at Alexis' penthouse. She says maybe she should just divorce him and searches for a pen. Bobbie warns her not to do it out of spite. Carly finds a pen and sits down to sign the papers . . .
