GH has been great this past week and today’s episode is no exception. There were a lot of great “soap lines” today, so I’ve included quotes from several of the characters.
1. General Hospital - “The Continuation of a Strange Friendship” - Jax is upset that Alexis and Sonny ganged up on him to make him let Stefan escape, but he gets really concerned when he finds out Sonny knows about Kristina. He tells Alexis he’s worried about her; how can she trust Sonny? “You’ll live to regret this, Alexis,” Jax says, “if you’re lucky.” Then he leaves.
Alexis laments that she may have just lost her greatest friend. Sonny compliments her for standing up for what she believes in. He wants to know if she’ll take his assistance if he offers it. Alexis tells him other people are involved who don’t trust him. Sonny doesn’t care, he just wants to protect her. After all, it’s in his best interest to keep his lawyer safe. Alexis says he’s not as self-centered as he pretends to be. Sonny points out that she can’t stop him from putting guards on her. They share another moment of their unique camaraderie. Sonny says he doesn’t need to know everything; “as long as you don’t lie to me, we’ll be okay.” “I’m the one with ethics here,” Alexis returns. “You’re the one who’s morally challenged.” “Yeah, but I pay well,” Sonny responds. “True, good point,” Alexis says, then adds, “You’re also an excellent friend.” Sonny again urges Alexis to accept his help; he can keep Stefan safe. Alexis says that no one can keep Stefan safe, given what he has to do. She can’t tell Sonny what’s going on; she’ll only say that some people who you dislike never go away. Sonny promises that he won’t let “whoever” get to her.
2. Lab - “How do We Deal with this Latest Kink in Our Plans?” - Helena is pacing the lab in this very brief scene, bemoaning the fact that Stefan escaped. Stavros seems unconcerned. He says he’s glad Stefan is out; now he can deal with him personally. He leaves.
3. Cassadine Yacht - “Don’t Think All is Forgiven” - Nikolas tells Gia he missed her every day they were apart. She admits she missed him, too, and they kiss. But you still have a lot to make up for, Gia tells the prince. Nikolas confesses he would have done anything to save his brother’s life, even destroy their relationship. Gia asks when he was planning on telling her the truth. When Lucky was safe, Nikolas answers. “Which would be never from what I’ve seen of the Spencers and the Cassadines,” Gia retorts (she hit that on the head, didn’t she?). Nikolas says he wants to start over. Gia plays it cool, saying she’s had plenty of dates since they broke up. She does say she’s stopped seeing Lucien, after she witnessed him and Helena together on the docks. Nikolas is instantly alarmed and questions Gia about the meeting between Lucien and his grandmother. He also wants to know how much Gia told this man. He could be a hit man or a spy, he points out. Gia says she had no idea this whole thing was a set-up and she wants to know everything now. Nikolas explains that Helena has a secret lab somewhere. If she believes he’s a true Cassadine, she’ll take him to the lab. Gia wants to help. “You’re a selfish, arrogant, spoiled prince of nothing, but I want in all the way,” she declares. Nikolas argues it’s too dangerous, but Gia won’t be swayed from her course. She says to take the yacht back to town and she’ll pretend to despise him once they’re back in Port Charles. Nikolas wants to know if she really does despise him.
4. Ned’s Residence - Quartermaine Gatehouse - “The Odd Couple” - Ned and Kristina are arguing about the fact that she moved him briefcase without asking him. She teases that she can’t believe he hasn’t figured out who she is. She pretends to be a country singer. Ned isn’t buying it. He shows her a press packet from L&B and she laughs at the photo of him in leather pants. Sky arrives, asking Ned if he’s heard from A.J. She tells Kristina that Ned can’t make her a star. Kristina takes an instant dislike to Skye and calls her miserable, an assessment Ned agrees with. He wants to know why Skye cares about A.J.; she won’t be around long enough to get to know him. Skye smugly says that Edward is reconsidering his opinion of her. Ned takes Skye off to talk just as Jax arrives. Jax tells Kristina they are leaving town right away. Alexis has helped Stefan escape. She isn’t thinking clearly; she’s trusting Sonny too much. Kristina says she won’t go. Jax says he has to protect her. Kristina insists she won’t leave Alexis.
5. Quartermaine Mansion - “Skye is a True Quartermaine” - Ned and Skye confront Edward in the living room. What does she have on you? Ned wants to know. Skye says Edward is thinking about letting A.J. back into ELQ and wants to help find him, right? Edward agrees reluctantly. Ned again asks what she is blackmailing him with. Edward says all he’s ever wanted is to bring the family together. “Then it must be pretty bad,” Ned says. Edward leaves and Ned asks Skye what’s going on. She threatens to tell Alexis about the girl he’s got in the gatehouse. Go ahead, Ned says.
6. Back at the Gatehouse - “Blowing her Cover” - Kristina continues to argue with Jax about leaving without telling Alexis. She says she wants to get her whole family together - her, Alexis, Stefan, and even Nikolas. She mentions being Alexis’ sister just as Ned walks in the door.
7. Wyndemere - “A Reunion” - Stefan goes directly to his house and declares to the universe: “I’m waiting for you, Stavros. Come and get me!” A short time later Stavros enters the study from behind the bookcase. A very cool Stefan greets him with the words: “You’re looking well. Coffee? Scone? Transfusion?” Stavros starts the conversation by pointing out that Stefan is now the older one. He wants to know how long Stefan has known he’s alive. Stefan mentions the disks. Stavros comments that he can’t believe how sure of himself Stefan is. Stefan says he’s had 20 years to mature. He tells his brother about the wonders of science, specifically DNA, which was the major clue into realizing his brother was alive. Stavros tells him that Chloe fought hard. She was going to warn Stefan, so he had to kill her - making her death your fault, he taunts. “You never did have any luck with women, did you?” Stavros sneers. “I did with Laura,” Stefan coolly responds, wiping the smirk right off his brother’s face. He goes on to tell Stavros that he had no idea what was going on right under his nose on the island all those years ago. He and Laura were in love and they hated Stavros, a bond they will always share. Laura gave me her son, Stefan says, and I raised him and taught him everything he knows. Because of me, he is fair-minded and strong. That will soon change, Stavros says. Soon I will reclaim my son. Stefan declares he will never let that happen. You’re no match for me, Stavros says confidently. “Come closer, big brother,” Stefan says. “Let me show you what I learned while you were sleeping.” The brothers approach each other slowly . . .
8. General Hospital E.R. - “Tripping Down Memory Lane” - Laura is stunned to find Luke in the cubicle but she plays along with his idea that they have a date. She does ask if Bobbie knows where he is, then steps outside the curtain to call her herself. In their brief phone conversation, Laura finds out that the antidote didn’t work. She goes back into the cubicle with Luke and tries to convince him that he needs to let Tony help him. “All I need is you, a strobe light, and a good sound system,” Luke replies. Then Laura sees Helena out at the desk. She has Luke take a peek, trying to jog his memory. Luke says Helena looks familiar, but he doesn’t know why. Disguised as a doctor in scrubs, Laura tries to sneak Luke out of the hospital in a wheelchair. Helena spots them. Luke and Laura take off, leaving Helena behind cursing them.
Luke and Laura end up in a theatrical warehouse on the docks, but Luke thinks they’re hiding in Windam’s Department Store like they did years ago. He sees some fancy glasses and remembers drinking champagne with Laura and having caviar a lifetime ago. In the present, he tells her she is so beautiful. He dons a top hat and tails and asks her to dance. They twirl around the storage room to remembered waltz music. Then Luke falls down. Laura comforts him, saying they’ll get through it, they always do. Luke seems to come to, looks around and wonders where they are. Then he notices Laura doesn’t have her ring on. Did she lose it? Pawn it? Then he sees his ring is gone, too. Laura tells them they are divorced. “How can that be?” Luke asks. “I still love you.”
