General Hospital Update for Thursday, 20-Sep-2001

1. Angel’s Lake House - “A Little Chit-Chat Between Friends” - Carly bluffs her way into Angel’s house, telling Kristina she and Angel are good friends always dropping by each other’s places. She says she’s dropping off Angel’s photos and shows Kristina the one of Jax. Carly starts jabbering about how Angel and Jax were an item, getting non-committal nods from Kristina.

2. Sonny’s Office - “Do Me a Favor” - Alexis asks Sony to loan her a henchman to protect someone. She won’t explain beyond giving Kristina’s first name. Sonny says no problem; she’s his friend and she needs help. He’ll arrange a safe house for Kristina. Alexis says she likes being his friend. Sonny goes on to tease her, asking if that means she won’t make a big fuss the next time he needs her to defend him.

3. Jax’ Suite - “You Have a Roommate” - Jax tells Angel he dropped Kristina off at her lake house. He needs to keep her somewhere out of sight. Angel says, no problem. She heads home to help Kristina settle in. Jax makes a call and learns he has taken over two more Cassadine subsidiaries.

4. Port Charles Grill - “Testing, Testing . . .” - Helena tells Nikolas there is a threat to the family. She says Elizabeth broke into her suite, stole the Ice Princess, then gave it to Lucky and let him throw it off the pier. Nikolas covers by expressing anger that Helena had the Ice Princess in the first place. Why wasn’t it in the vault? He demands access to all of the Cassadine holdings. Helena says certainly, as soon as he passes a test of allegiance. Nikolas says he thought he already proved himself. What does she want now? Helena takes him off to perform the test.

5. Port Charles Grill (nearby table) - “Watch and Worry” - A concerned Laura watches Nikolas leave with Helena. Her table companion, Roy, tells her not to worry; Helena is vulnerable when it comes to Nikolas, because she wants to believe he’s on her side. Roy also assures Laura he will find Luke, no matter what rock he’s crawled under. Laura wonders what Helena will ask Nikolas to do to prove himself and asks Roy how he dealt with that when he was undercover. Roy says he’ll manage.

6. Port Charles Grill (in the bar) - “Lucien Looking for Love” - Lucien meets Gia in the Port Charles Hotel bar. Gia is upset because she spotted Nikolas in the dining room. She tells Lucien she wants him to introduce him to her former boyfriend. Lucien/Stavros says he’d rather not, because he wants her to be happy, and she’s anything but when she’s around Nikolas. He offers to take her out on the town. Gia says no, she has a photo shoot in the morning. Then she offers to introduce him to her boss, Laura, who is also in the next room. Stavros slips out of that tight spot by saying he needs his first meeting with Laura to be perfectly choreographed. He convinces Gia to invite him up to her room for lunch. Upstairs, he offers her champagne. She refuses, saying alcohol will make her puffy. Stavros mentions Laura again and asks if she has a special project going with the man she was dining with downstairs. Gia wants to know what’s with all the questions about Laura. He seems more interested in her boss than in her! Stavros says he is interested in investing in Deception. Then, piling on the charm, he says Gia is the reason the company is a success, but he believes Laura thinks too small. He wants to finance a bigger campaign that will make Gia the star she deserves to be. That’s why his first meeting with Laura has to be perfect - so she will agree to his plan. Gia lets him convince her to drink some champagne in celebration of her greatness. A little later, she’s feeling tipsy, and Stavros just keeps the compliments coming.

7. Sonny’s Office - “I Got the Dirt on Your Beloved Angel” - Carly arrives. Sonny tells her he’s taken care of A.J. and she shouldn’t worry. She sees that as proof that he still cares, but he says he did it for Michael. Carly steers the conversation around to Angel, going on and on about how Sonny likes her because she understands him. But your precious Angel witheld information from you, she crows. Sonny doesn’t want to hear it and asks Carly to leave. She shows him the photo of Jax and says she found it in Angel’s house on a roll of undeveloped film. Doesn’t it bother you that Angel is close to the man you hate? She’s playing you for a fool, Carly gloats, and I know how you don’t forgive betrayal. Sonny pretends to not be bothered by this bit of news and instead focuses on the fact that Carly broke into Angel’s house and stole the film, proving that she’s out of control, as usual. Carly can’t keep quiet any longer and spills her juiciest tidbit - Angel and Jax slept together!

8. Jax’s Suite - “Where is My Sister?” - Alexis arrives and wants to know where Kristin is. She says she’s made arrangements to keep her safe. Jax says he’s already moved her to a safe location. He refuses to tell Alexis where she is unless she promises not to tell Stefan. Alexis says she’s grateful to Jax for finding her sister, but she says he has no right to interfere in a family reunion. Jax reminds her that today is the anniversary of Brenda’s car going off the cliff. And after what happened to Chloe, he will not let any more innocent women get hurt. Alexis compromises - she won’t tell Stefan anything until after he is cleared. That will happen quickly, she says, once the DNA test results are in. Jax gives Alexis the address of the lake house and says the woman who Kristina hired to find her birth family owns it.

9. Police Station - “Charges are Made” - Stefan tells Taggert and Mac that Helena tried to kill him on her yacht. Mac wonders why he is just now coming forward with this accusation. Stefan says he had delayed due to a misplaced sense of family loyalty. The police are skeptical. Helena arrives and answers with a charge of her own: Stefan murdered Chloe. She spins a detailed tale about how Chloe came to her asking for protection because Stefan was stalking her. Helena then produces a witness: Nikolas. Stefan says she’s lying and asks Nikolas to tell the truth, confident that his nephew will not so utterly betray him. Nikolas says he heard Chloe ask Helena for protection from Stefan. A destroyed Stefan tells Nikolas: “God help you. God help us all.”

10. Angel’s Lake House - “A Busy Little Hideaway” - Angel arrives home. Kristina tells her how lovely the place is, how quiet. There’s a knock at the door. Angel makes Kristina hide before going to answer it. When she opens the door, a surprised Alexis stands there.

11. Port Charles Grill - “A Big Audience for a Big Announcement” - Helena and Nikolas return to their table. Nikolas wants answers immediately, but Helena puts him off by saying she wants to eat first. At a nearby table, Alan, Monica, Edward and Ned gather after Chloe’s funeral to talk about what a wonderful person she was. They make one reference to A.J.’s absence (A.J. is still “hanging” around the warehouse, yelling that Sonny will be sorry). Then Jax arrives and joins the group. Next Stefan enters the restaurant and announces to all present that he loved Chloe and could never hurt her. He offers a donation to Chloe’s favorite charity. Jax grabs the check out of his hand and tears it up. Mac and Taggert arrive before a fight can break out. Mac tells Stefan he is under arrest because the preliminary DNA test results show a match between his DNA and that found on Chloe’s body. Stefan is incredulous, Nikolas looks upset, and even Helena looks confused.
