Ladies and Gentlemen

Today, General Hospital did not air due to the horrific events taking place.

As a Canadian we take pride in many things, and one of those things is the strong ties we have with America.

So as the days go forward, please know that the hearts of myself and my countrymen are with you. We feel the hurt, the anger, and the loss that is being experienced by all your nation.

You have lost mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, friends and neighbours. You have lost your security, your innocence, and for some of you, your faith.

I am not a religious person, so I am not able to pray. I am, however, a hopeful person. And so I hope for you all the strength to make it through the trying days ahead. I hope for you the love of family and friends. I hope for you the justice demanded for the atrocious terrorism acted upon your people. And I hope for you the peace found in that strength, that love and that justice.

My best wishes and thoughts are with you. Continue to shine, America, for you are truly great.
