General Hospital Update for Friday, 24-Aug-2001

As usual Friday arrives bearing surprises in store. Some of today's surprises were quite unexpected.

THE PORT CHARLES HOTEL:
HELENA'S SUITE;
Helena tells Stavros how easy it was to deprogram Lucky's love for Liz. She uses this example to show that LOVE does not really exist. She mentions to him that it might be time to do away with Alexis, NOW that Mikkos is no longer around to protest. (NOW??? He's been dead for about twenty years!) Before he leaves, Stavros warns Helena not to let her attraction to Jax make her the prey instead of the predator.
GIA'S ROOM;
Gia continues to grill Lucky about what is going on. When he gets angry and tries to leave she stops him by coming on to him. She then stalls by saying they need to set the right mood. She goes out to get a bottle of wine and makes him promise to stay in her room. Once outside, she phones Liz, who is downstairs at the Grill, and they agree to meet.
GRILL;
Gia tells Liz about Lucky's current thrill seeking state and concludes that Helena must have something to do with it. Liz has a plan. She will go upstairs and get what she needs from Helena's room. Gia will watch out for and stall Helena if she returns before Liz comes back.
Alexis meets Jax at the grill very curious to find out what he is in to. Jax in turn is curious about the Ice Princess. After she gives him a brief history (off screen) they are surprised by the arrival of Ned and Chloe. Chloe apologizes to Jax for over reacting to his return, he in turn apologizes for not giving her any warning of said event. They all sit down to dinner together. Chloe announces that she has just decided to return to Milan. They toast to her new life. Stephan arrives and asks to speak with Chloe. They go out on the terrace where Chloe tells him that she is leaving, Stephan wants to go with her. She asks him about the drown girl Lucian (a.k.a. Stavros) told her about. Stephan tries to explain that it was a long time ago, and his FAMILY covered it up to protect themselves. She tells him he has been lying for so long he can't stop. Stephan tells her he loves her and will do what ever she wants to prove it. She tells Stephan she never wants to see him again.
Alexis stops Ned and Jax from interfering with Chloe and Stephan. Jax leaves the table to make a phone call. Alexis is beeped and must leave. Jax's phone call is to the mysterious woman 'Kristina'. (Whom we now see is a red head-All we see is her back, not her face.) She tells him it has been weeks, and she is tried of waiting. He responds that they must be sure it is safe before they continue.
Helena returns to the hotel and enters the Grill to retrieve her forgotten wrap. (Lucky for Liz, or Gia never would have seen her from her post at the terrace doors in the back of the restaurant). Gia stops her from returning to her suite by telling Helena about her plan to sue Nik & the family. Helena dismisses it and Gia. Gia stops Helena again by grabbing her arm and smashing some cake into Helena's power suit. Helena asks to have Gia removed.

ANGEL'S HOUSE:
Taggart tells Angel and Sonny about Carly accusation. Angel finds Carly's statement so ridiculous that it makes her laugh. Taggart makes snide remarks and starts to ask very personal questions. Sonny tries to protect Angel by pointing out that the warrant does not allow him to ask about personal feeling. Taggart goes through some of the boxes and finds two tickets to Greece with the same date Sorrel kidnapped Carly. He speculates about Sonny and Angel. Sonny very reasonably points out the obvious - the tickets were never used. Never-the-less Taggart feels he should bring Angel downtown for questioning. Sonny tells her not to answer any more questions without HIS attorney being present.

AT THE PCPD:
Mac and Dara point out to Carly the ramifications of signing a false statement; it is perjury. Mac tells her IF she lied, (like there is any doubt when dealing with Carly) she will be prosecuted, and perjury carries a sentence of up to two years. Mike arrives in response to Carly's call and tries to convince her to retract her statement. He warns her that Sonny will be very upset that Carly has involved the police in his business AGAIN. He tells her to change her mind before Sonny finds out (TOO LATE) and her plan backfires. Realizing this could drive Sonny further away, Carly looks for Mac, so she can take back her statement.

LAST SCENES:
To keep Helena busy, Gia tells her she has some news about Lucky.
Liz gets in to Helena's suite and thanks to Jax finds the Ice Princess in an urn. Before she can grab it, she hears the door opening. She manages to close the lid and turns around just in time to see...Stavros!
As Carly looks for Mac, Taggart escorts Angel and Sonny into the station. Alexis arrives and wants to know what the charges are against Sonny. Carly (forgetting her resent resolve to get on Sonny's good side) starts to mouth off against Angel despite Sonny's warning to keep quite.
Desperate to keep Chloe from cutting him out of her life, Stephan grabs her hands and pleads with her to give him time, away from away everyonw, to show her he loves her. She angrily pulls away, stumbles, falls and hits her head on a large stone planter! Jax arrives just as Stephan is bending over an unconscious Chloe.
