1. HELENA’S SUITE AT THE PORT CHARLES HOTEL - “A Bungled Burgle” - Liz and Nikolas find Jax hiding behind the curtain. He says he wants to stop whatever Helena has planned for Alexis. He guesses they’re looking for the Ice Princess and intimates that he can help. Liz begs him to tell them where the diamond is; she says it’s a matter of life and death. Nikolas continues the prince act. Jax says he’d be more inclined to help if Nik confessed he was faking. Helena shows up and demands to know why there’s a “costume party” in her room. She wants Liz’s maid outfit explained. Liz says she was looking for clues to help Lucky. Keeping the charade going in front of his grandmother, Nik argues with Liz, telling her to forget Lucky. They leave and Jax is left alone with Helena. He said he was doing some investigating himself and threatens to keep snatching up Cassadine business assets unless Helena tells him what she’s up to. She stalls; he says she hasn’t changed and leaves with these parting words: “Those who can’t adapt generally don’t survive.”
2. THE DOCKS - “Lucky Living a Little” - In Nikolas’ car, Gia kisses Lucky as a distraction then grabs the car keys. She says he’s acting like a lunatic, wanting to go drag racing, and it’s all because of his break-up with Liz. He yells that he doesn’t want anyone to control him. Gia takes off with the keys, Lucky chases her. He catches up with her on the docks and promises he won’t go drag racing. She takes the keys out of her blouse (when he’s reaching for them) and throws them in the river. She says he’s acting like he has a death wish. He says he wants to DO, not THINK. Gia asks him how he stopped loving Liz overnight. Lucky says he remembers his relationship with Liz as facts with no feelings; it’s like it happened to someone else. Gia says you can’t turn love off like that; Helena must have something to do with his odd behavior. She says she’s all he’s got, and she’s determined to protect him. She takes him back to her room at the PC Hotel. Lucky comes on to her but calls her Elizabeth. Gia says that maybe whatever Helena did to him didn’t work completely . . .
3. POLICE STATION - “Arrest the Tramp! (Carly being Carly) - Carly (still in her hideous outfit) demands that the police arrest Angel because she was in on her daddy Sorrel kidnapping her. Mac leaves Taggert to deal with Carly’s “tantrum.” Carly tells Taggert that Sorrel knifed Sonny, then Angel kept Sonny at her house, while her father took Carly captive. Taggert points out that she has no case and no evidence; isn’t this just a domestic dispute? ADA Darrah comes in; Taggert takes her aside and fills her in. He says that Angel was very cold about her father’s death and he’d like to use Carly’s complaint as an excuse to question Angel. Later, Carly signs the complaint against Angel.
4. HOSPITAL - “Mac’s Back - Let the Investigation Begin!” - Mac asks Alan about info. about who was on duty the night of the murder. Alan wants him to drop it. Roy arrives and overhears Mac saying that the killer could have been a member of the staff because only hospital personnel would know how to rig the equipment in Sorrel’s room. Melissa comes in, and Roy goes over to her to try to convince her to leave town with him for a vacation. Mac comes over to question her. Why did she run out of Sorrel’s surgery, he wants to know. Roy intervenes, spouting all sorts of stuff about due process and doing this by the book and Melissa shouldn’t say anything without a lawyer. Mac asks Alan about Melissa’s conduct. Alan says Mac would need a court order to see a formal report on hospital personnel. He says he remembers Melissa had a headache during the surgery. Mac leaves. Melissa thanks Alan for covering for her. Alan says he won’t let that scum Sorrel hurt people from beyond the grave. He agrees to sign her request for a vacation. Melissa realizes Roy is trying to protect her, get her out of town before she incriminates herself. “Do you think I killed Sorrel?” she gasps. Roy evades the question, saying a lot of people had reason to want the guy dead. He doesn’t believe she should be punished for that. He adds that he wants to build a future with her . . .
5. PORT CHARLES GRILL - “After the Failed Assault on Helena’s Room” - Liz and Nik discuss the Ice Princess, and Liz wonders if Jax really knows where it is. Nik says he wants to check Cassadine business records for clues and leaves. Jax comes in and suggests to Liz that Helena’s urn might be of interest. But he warns her to stay away from Helena’s room; it’s too dangerous. He says she should look for Lucky instead. She agrees and leaves. Jax calls someone on his cell phone and tells them to meet him at the PC Grill right away. . .
6. POLICE STATION - Mac discovers that Melissa's brother Leo was killed by Sorrel.
7. ANGEL’S HOUSE - “You Love Her, You Love Her Not - Forget Her and Love Me!” - Angel tells Sonny about Carly’s little visit and complains about her temper. She says it’s no secret (to him) that she has feelings about him, but she’s certainly not out to steal another woman’s husband. Carly’s not stupid, she says; she knows how I feel. Angel wants to know (for the billionth time it seems) what Sonny’s going to do about Carly. He says he can’t forgive betrayal. Angel says it’s not easy to give up on love, and it’s obvious he still loves Carly. Sonny doesn’t answer. Angel says - and this is the best line of the day, in my opinion - “I wish that you would say something.” (Bravo! Enough brooding silences from Sonny!) He says he won’t deny he still loves Carly but he can’t trust her; he can’t trust anybody. Angel says she understands that life. She ran away from her father after he killed her husband because she still loved him and didn’t want to. (Here is the explanation for why she was living the high life when she met Jax.) She said her love for her father died when he hurt Sonny (but killing her husband - what?- just made her sulk for awhile?) and she has him to thank for freeing her. She pointed out that she knows mob life and gave the “man in charge” a break when she let him stay with her. She said if he needs another break, he’s more than welcome. She wants to help him find peace . . . and more. Sonny doesn’t promise anything. Then Taggert shows up . . .
