General Hospital Update for Friday, 10-Aug-2001

Today's episode was good, plus it had a few surprises at the end...

IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS:
Melissa admits to feeling better after burning the paper with her worries written on it. Roy confesses to feeling better also, even though he never thought he would when Melissa came to PC. This leads them to share a kiss. They both admit that despite the tent collapsing and the trouble starting the fire, they are having a good time and feel closer to each other. They decide to get some sleep. As they lay in their sleeping bags, they make wishes on shooting stars. They fall asleep holding hands. Later Melissa is woken up by the sounds of someone moving around the camp. She mumbles to Roy to keep quiet, as she is not ready to get up. When she turns over, she is surprised to find Roy…
still in his sleeping bag. So if that isn't Roy making noise who is? She tentatively peeks over her sleeping bag and sees a bear…
A rather large black bear pawing through the food they did not put away the night before. After an attempt to scare the bear backfires, they decide to make a run for the car. Unfortunately the car is locked and neither one has the keys. When they are perched atop the car roof, Roy remembers where the keys are. He put them in his sleeping bag…
The same bag said bear is now pawing through!

AT THE AUCTION:
Bio-Luke continues to expand on Nik's duplicity to Helena. He also warns Nik to keep away from Helena or soon HE will have to be brought back from the dead! Unseen by anyone Stavros watches and smirks! Nik tries to save himself and the situation by saying Luke is drunk. When Luke throws more insults at Helena, Nik defends her and punches Luke. Luke does manage to throw some truths about Helena's activities with Bio-weapons to the assembled group. Unfortunately they are diminished by his seemingly drunken ranting and insults directed at Mac. Before being escorted out by Taggart, Luke tells Stephan to have Nik arrested, it is the only way to keep him safe from Helena. Afterwards Stephan asks Nik if Luke was telling the truth. Nik denies it and in front of everyone tells Stephan that he is grateful that he is not Stephan's son, as Stephan is not and never will be half the man Stavros was! A very hurt Stephan leaves the room, with Chloe close on his heels.

Stavros catches up with Helena in the control room and greets her with a great big "I TOLD YOU SO!" Before he leaves he tells Helena to handle the problem…
meaning Nik.

Taggart has handcuffed Luke to the wall. Alexis tells Luke she is willing to help him with his current legal troubles in exchange for the truth about Nik. When Luke can not concentrate enough to give her straight answers, she tells him he is on his own and returns to the auction.

In another room Nik vents his frustration with Luke's back stabbing, to Liz. She in turn confesses to having kidnapped the missing Lucky to keep him safe from Helena. Now she is worried that Nik will be in the line of fire-if Helena believed Luke. She tells him they are the only two still fighting against Helena. Gia arrives and after Liz leaves, she asks Nik if Luke was telling the truth. Was pushing her away just a trick to convince Helena, and save Lucky? Nik tells her to stop living in a fantasy world. They dated, had a good time, but now it's over, and it's time to move on. They return to the auction.

When Taggart goes to call a patrol car to take Luke to the station, Stavros appears. He taunts Luke by saying it's going to be pleasure to watch the toxins destroy Luke as he loses his family, his friends and then dies a slow painful death! Taggart returns in time to hear Luke threaten Stavros. Luke demands that Taggart arrest that man, but can't concentrate enough to make sense. Taggart goes to check on the progress of the patrol car. Stavros excuses himself; he has other victims to see to, he tells Luke. Mac appears and tells Luke he is finally getting what he deserves. Luke taunts back with crude remarks about how Mac can't satisfy Felicia in bed. Scott stops Mac from hitting Luke, but has a few taunts of his own for Luke. He is going to get Laura back and this time he will not lose her to Luke. Luke tries to warn Scott that Laura is in danger (from the shadow) and that Scott needs to keep her hidden. Scott scoffs at what sounds like drunken ravings and leaves. Inner Luke appears and tells Bio-Luke that things are getting out of control. Everyone they care about is in danger, but they are running out of time and have to do something NOW!

Monica rudely ignores Skye, who comments to Alan that being ignored is better than being insulted. Alexis shares a memory with Ned about a statuette in the auction. Edward admires a diamond ring he wants to purchase for Lila. The auction starts again. Monica bids on the ruby bracelet. Alan outbids her and snidely tells Monica to stop being rude to Skye. He then gives the bracelet to Skye. Alexis bids on the statuette. Edwards bids against her until Ned makes him stop. Afterward Helena remarks to Alexis that she hopes Alexis can afford to spend that much money. Alexis responds by smashing the statuette at Helena's feet, then looks her directly in the eye and says, "That is what I will do to you if you mess with me or mine again!".

Out Spoon Island (Wyndemere), Stephan resists showing his pain in front of a comforting Chloe. (They are unaware that Stavros is lurking in the bushes, listening to their conversation.) She tells him showing emotions just mean you are human. He responds by saying that in his family it is a sign of weakness. She tells him it just might be time to break away from the Family, not just for Nik but for himself. Stephan tells her he could do it, if she was with him. A surprised Chloe listens as Stephan proposes! (Stavros listens with a malicious gleam in his eyes).

Back inside, the ring Edward has his eye one on opens at $50,000. Edward decides to cut out the competition and bids $100,000. From the back of the room someone bids more. They go back and forth until the bid is $650,000. Suddenly, the door opens and a new voice call out a bid… $1,000,000. A shocked group turns to look at the bidder and get another surprise…

Taggart returns from checking on the patrol car to find his own surprise. The officer he left to guard Luke is unconscious and the handcuffs are EMPTY!
LUKE HAS ESCAPED!!!
