General Hospital Update for Thursday, 9-Aug-2001

Today was an interesting day if you haven't been reading the scoops & spoilers...

Luke shows up outside the auction and "Good Luke" tells him to create a scene and to put on the glasses in his upper left pocket.

Helena watches Gia and Nik on camera and Stavros interrupts her and accuses her of having premature beliefs that Nik is over Gia.

Carly talks with Skye in her hotel room. She starts to become suspicious of Skye and decides that the entire idea was a mistake. She tells her that the only person she can count on to protect her and Michael is Sonny. Carly continued telling Skye that when something was too good to be true, then it usually is. She said goodbye and showed Skye the door. Skye begs Carly to hold onto her son with both hands and never let the Quartermaines take him. Carly has a sudden change of heart and asks Skye about her adoption. Skye spouted out her usually poor me act and told her that the Quartermaine's must pay for what they did, especially AJ. Carly tells Skye that she should just walk away from the Quartermaines and that she could handle AJ all by herself. Skye tells her to contact her if she changes her mind. Just then AJ busted through both of them and started threatening a lawsuit if Carly didn't bring Michael home. Skye got right in his face and said that she would testify against him and that he doesn't have a prayer. They throw insults back and forth until Carly kicks him out and thanks Skye for helping. As Skye leaves she promises Carly that she will be in touch. As Skye walks down the hall AJ tackles her and congratulates her on what a great team they make.

Sonny tells Angel that he knows that Sorel is her father and that he believes that she's been working some angle the entire time. He asks her why she was conveniently in the graveyard on the night her father tried to kill him. She says that she thinks that it was fate. She was visiting her mother's grave and saw her father attack him. She said that he would have died and that she saved him on impulse. Sonny continues to grill Angel for information. She tells him that she used to love her father, she worshiped him. As she grew older she began to understand his business and discovered the price it cost. She told Sonny that she didn't want Sorel to get him too. Sonny asked her if it was because she cared. He told her that you are still being dishonest by keeping quiet. He asked her why Carly was there the night before and why she hadn't been honest with her. Angel said that Carly had been devastated and that she wanted to stop her from doing something crazy. She also did not deny that she wanted to know more about the woman that Sonny would marry. Sonny tells her that Carly is always sorry for the things she does but lies are all she knows. Sonny tells Angel that he understands what Carly does. Angel replies that understanding is not forgiveness and asks if he has forgiven his wife. Sonny starts towards the door but Angel stops him. She tells him that if she has to choose between him and her father, she chooses him. Sonny walks out and Angel's face falls.

Melissa and Roy are still trying desperately to pitch a tent and realize that they have no matches to start a campfire. Roy uses the car lighter to start an almost too perfect fire. Roy eats a candy bar for dinner and Melissa is hung up on Leo's favorite candy bar. Roy tells her she needs to let go of the past and Melissa tells Roy she'll let go if he will. Melissa tells Roy about her friend Patricia who is a healer. Melissa convinces Roy to write down their problems on paper and let them go. They both toss their problems into the fire.

Nik tells Gia he never meant to hurt her to which she replied that he never really loved her. She furthered by saying that he only wanted to get her into bed. Liz walks in interrupting the two which fuels Gia's fire even more. She tells Liz that she's perfect for Nik because they are both liars.

Helena claims that Nik's just amused with Gia's anger. Stavros points out that Nik can't take his eyes off of her. Stavros confides in Helena that once he's done with Gia, she will be ruined for Nik. Helena becomes upset when Stavros tells her his plan to attend the auction that evening as Gia's date.

Gia continues to attack Liz until Nik tells her to back off. Gia once again tells Liz that he's all hers and that her date is waiting. Just as she's leaving, a guard hands her a small jewelry box and tells her it's for her. She opens it and reveals a diamond necklace and a card from Lucien telling her he has been called away unexpectedly. Nik gets angry and asks if she's taking diamonds from men she hardly knows. Gia wittingly replies that she took diamonds from him and come to find out she never really knew him at all either.

Stavros tells Helena he was just joking but that the look on her face was priceless. She tells him that she is flattered that he is respecting her plans. Stavros still believes that Nik's sincerity to rejoin the family is doubtful and that he will prove it to Helena.

Nik tells Liz that Helena is starting to trust him and that he is close to finding out what they need. Liz thanks him and praises him for going above and beyond the call of duty.

At the auction Taggert questions Alexis about the stolen necklace until Ned steps in and saves her. The auction begins and while Helena is welcoming her guests, Luke comes in clapping loudly and applauding Helena's miraculous medical advancements. Mac tells him it's time to go but Helena interjects and says that Luke may stay. When Scotty bids on a painting for Laura, Luke taunts him. Again, Mac steps in and Luke reminds him that he already sent his wife home to him and that he should want nothing more with him. Taggert tells Luke he is under arrest for disturbing the peace and Liz asks Luke to let her help him for Lucky's sake. Luke is touched by Elizabeths words and tells Taggert to instead arrest Helena for ensuring that Liz will never be happy. Nik tells Luke that he should take it outside. Luke then blows Nik's cover and tells Helena that he has been working with him the entire time. Gia is confused while a lurking Stavros smiles with satisfaction to know the truth.
