General Hospital Update for Monday, August 6, 2001

1. FELECIA’S HOUSE - “How Could I Have Been Such a Fool?” - Felecia is fed up with Luke and encourages Mac to go ahead and say “I told you so.” Of course, he is supportive. Felecia admits that Luke was always unreliable. Mac asks if Luke ever showed any interest in her children. She says no, everything was on Luke’s terms. She says she’s mad at herself for throwing everything away to be with him; some of her best times were had right at home with her family. Mac consoles her, saying Luke took advantage of a beautiful woman who felt closed in by her hum-drum life. He says they both need an adrenaline rush every now and then. But can’t there be a balance? Felecia wails. What now, Mac wants to know. Felecia decides she needs to go to Texas to be with her grandmother. She’ll pick the girls up from camp and take the cheapest flight she can find on the internet. Mac’s parting words are that Luke never deserved her. Felecia closes the door and says “goodbye.” But who is she bidding farewell to? Luke? Mac? Both of them?

2. AUCTION ROOM - “The Mystery of the Missing Necklace” - Alexis accuses Helena of stealing the necklace. Helena accuses Alexis. Taggert finally has had enough of the charges flying around and shoos everyone out of the crime scene. Stefan stands up for Alexis; then as soon as Helena has left (with her lovely parting words: “I do regret the day you learned to swim.”), he turns to Alexis and asks if she did steal the necklace. She says no, but it is hers. She shows Stefan her mother’s ring that she’s wearing. He wants to know why all this is coming up now (uh, because the writers need to go on to a new plot?). Alexis tells Stefan what she remembers about the day her mother was killed. She says she keeps seeing the necklace covered in blood. Later, back at her penthouse (?), Alexis opens an ornate box and pulls out a black velvet bag which contains . . . the necklace! This makes no sense, because as she looks lovingly at the necklace, Jax is admiring the exact same necklace that he has stolen back in his penthouse! What is going on?

3. THE HOSPITAL NURSERY - Carly evades Sonny’s question about whether she’s pregnant by saying she’s still waiting for the results. She says she hopes he won’t be disappointed if they have a baby girl, and she goes on to envision their happy family life - she and Sonny and Michael and a little girl. Then Bobbie arrives and spills the beans that Carly is NOT pregnant (she got that out of colleague Dr. Meadows). Carly insists she would have told Sonny the truth; she just didn’t know how after seeing his face when he was looking at the newborn babies. A furious Sonny leaves. Carly turns on Bobbie, screaming that she hates her. Bobbie tries to calm her down, but Carly lists all of Mommy’s bad traits and says that Bobbie can’t keep a man in her life so she doesn’t want her daughter to have one. Bobbie says she loves her; Carly answers back with she no longer has a mother. (All I can say is thank goodness Bobbie clued Sonny in - I was envisioning months of Carly stuffing pillows under her blouse.)

4. JOSEPH SOREL’S HOSPITAL ROOM - “Angel Shows Her True Colors - And It’s Not Pristine White!” - Angel is angry, not scared, when Sorel writes “traitor” on a piece of paper. She says she loved him but then he killed her husband. She says he won’t get Sonny, but she will try to. She says she wants to end up with the man that Sorel hates most. She tells Sorel that she was the one who saved Sonny’s life after he left him bleeding in the cemetery. She says she burned the wedding pictures that had Sorel in them. Angel says she is ready to love again and she owes that to Sonny. Her parting words are that she hopes Sorel sees all his friends again soon - in Hell! She storms out to find Sonny in the corridor. Angel tells him her connection with Sorel is broken; she told him she wants Sonny. Before Sonny can digest this bit of news, Carly arrives on the scene. (What now? A cat fight?)

5. LUKE’S APARTMENT - “Luke vs. Luke” - Lucky is stunned and thrilled to see his father alive. “I thought you were dead,” he says. “Sorry, better luck next time,” the surly Luke replies. While the Inner Luke pleads with the drugged Luke to stop acting like a jerk and help his son, the outer Luke acts drunk and tries to make Lucky leave. Lucky starts to remember the underground lab and that he did something to hurt his father there. Drunk Luke says he doesn’t know anyone named Helena. Lucky begs for his help. Suddenly, the real Luke surfaces and he hugs Lucky, promising that everything will be all right. But then he staggers and falls down, just as some goons burst into the room and take Lucky away. Then we have a brief interlude of the Inner Luke watching in disgust as his outer self crawls around on the floor with a bottle of liquor. He tells drunken Luke that he hates him. Helena arrives to gloat. While the Inner Luke screams at his other self to grab her and make her tell him what she did, the Outer Luke doesn’t know who she is. Helena says the world will only see him as a drunken lout, but she sees him as the raw Luke, with no boundaries. “You mean the weak, ineffectual Luke that your enemies want you to be,” Inner Luke sneers. Helena says every good thing in his soul will shrivel up and die and the old Luke will soon be gone. She says she will miss him. Drugged Luke starts flirting with her, but Helena heads towards the door. Inner Luke screams at his other self to grab her, don’t let her leave! Luke does grab her and says, “I ain’t gone yet, baby.” (Will these two finally have a tryst?)

6. MYSTERY MANSION - “Lucky Kidnapped Again!” - Lucky is tied to a chair in an ornate foyer. He yells, “What does Helena want with me now?” Then someone comes in, and we see Lucky’s eyes widen as he exclaims, “You!” (Who is his captor this time?)
