General Hospital Update for Thursday, July 26, 2001

1. AT THE POLICE STATION - “Another Round of ‘Let’s See What We Can Charge Sonny With Today’” - Carly and Sonny are both at the police station, Dara questioning Carly, while Taggert grills Sonny. Taggert says he is charging Sonny with the attempted murder of Joseph Sorel. Carly is in her usual “defense of Sonny” mode, telling the cops they have no right to harass her husband. She says Sorel threatened to kill her. Dara convinces Taggert to let Sonny go. Sonny leaves without even a word to Carly. Gia arrives and tells her brother that Nikolas was using her. She then dials a number on her cell phone and leaves a message for Lucien Kane (aka Stavros), saying she does need a friend after all. . . (That girl sure does like Cassadines!)

2. AT THE HOSPITAL - JOSEPH SOREL’S ROOM - “Roy Switches to ‘Defend Melissa’ Mode” - Roy is not too happy to see that Melissa is Sorel’s nurse. When Sorel wakes up, Roy threatens him. Later, Melissa demands to know what’s going on. Roy says he’ll tell her why he wants her to stay away from Sorel but not there. They leave. Sonny arrives, chats with the guard outside Sorel’s room (does everyone work for him?), then goes inside and closes the blinds. . . (Will he finally kill Sorel and end this plot once and for all?)

3. AA MEETING AT THE HOSPITAL - “Father and Daughter Have Something in Common” - Skye confesses her jealousy of Emily and tells the AA group that she is truly sorry and wants to be a better person. Then she is amazed when Alan steps forward and admits he is an addict. He speaks about his addiction and his commitment to staying clean. After the meeting Alan tells Skye she should get with the program and go apologize to Emily. Father and daughter admit they need each
other . . . (I guess Skye realizes she is like her father, after all.)

4. AT THE PORT CHARLES GRILL - “The Charade Continues” - Nikolas tells Lucky and Gia that he’s been interested in Elizabeth all along. Elizabeth, angry that he’s not telling the truth, says the two of them will never happen. Gia, ready to believe the worst of the prince and Miss Perfect Complexion, blasts Elizabeth for stringing two guys along then leaves with Lucky. Nikolas and Elizabeth catch up to Lucky, who tells Elizabeth to be with Nikolas, that then she might be safe. He says it’s too late for him. Later, Lucky shows up on the hospital roof and steps up on the ledge. Nikolas and Elizabeth, who were following Lucky, arrive a few minutes later and discover a picture of Luke on the docks laying on the floor of the roof. . . (Will they discover the secret entrance to the elevator?)

5. FAR BENEATH THE HOSPITAL - “I’M BACK!” - As Stavros and Helena chortle with glee over Luke’s shock, he composes himself and declares that the man before him is a two-bit actor. Then Stavros describes in detail the events in the bedroom the night Luke killed him, even repeating his dying words. A horrified Luke realizes his arch enemy is truly back from the dead and he deduces that the mysterious disks held instructions on how to “thaw out loin of Stavros.” Stavros tells Luke that Nikolas was Laura’s pride and joy; Luke says Laura never loved him - and so on and so on, until Stavros pushes Luke too far. Luke grabs him and puts a knife (that he’d gotten off the guard he knocked out) to his throat. “Checkmate,” he tells Helena. Give him Lucky or her “medical experiment” dies again. Then Lucky shows up, creating enough of a distraction for Stavros to pull free and Helena’s goons to restrain Luke. Helena hands Lucky a syringe full of toxin and tells him to “take the king to protect the queen.” Luke watches helplessly . . . (Who is the syringe for - Luke or Lucky?)
