General Hospital Update for Monday, 16-Jul-2001

AT THE COTTAGE:
Nik flat out refuses to get rid of Gia to prove he is sincere in his desire to return to the family fold. He will keep the woman he wants, no matter how unsuitable she may be, just like his father did, he tells Helena. Helena reminds Nik that Stavros' choice already cost the family too much, and IF he wants to get back to the bosom of the Cassadine family he will do as she says. Later Nik assures Gia that he wants her to be part of his life for a long time, but does not answer any of her questions. They cuddle and say, "I love you" to each other.

AT ANGEL'S HOUSE:
Mike pounds on the door and calls out to Sonny that Carly is in trouble and Sonny HAS to help her. Angel answers the door and tells Mike that Sonny never came back. Mike realizes that Sonny lied to him so that he(Sonny) could take care of the problem alone. Mike wants to call the police, but Angel refuses to let him use her phone. She tells him that Sonny would not want the police involved and Mike should know that much about his own son. Later she does a Tarot reading and sees the death card (Ace of Spades right?). She sends up a prayer for the Lord to protect Sonny.

AT THE SPENCER HOME:
A frighten Laura tries the phone and lights, but both are out. In the dark she does not see Stavros on the stairs watching her. Suddenly there is a shadow on the porch. It is Stephan, a badly shaken Laura rushes in to his arms and tells him someone was/is in her home. Stephan gives the house a once over, but does not find anything. They think the picture and rose with the ring are the work of Helena. Suddenly Laura remembers that she and Stephan are NOT on good terms and she asks him why he is there. Stephan confesses that he is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of a new love. They talk about the past and the link that binds them together - Nik. They are unaware that Stavros is listening and watching them from the stairway. After Stephan leaves, Laura watches the storm from a window. During a flash of lightening she see a man standing just of off the porch…
Stavros. Frighten she takes a step back, but when the next flash of lightening comes there is nobody there!

AT HELENA'S YACHT:
Luke holds a gun on an uncooperative Tony, and tells him they will stay until Luke knows everything Tony knows about what Helena is up to. Luke tells Tony about the things he has discovered, but Tony denies knowledge of Helena's actions. Luke does manage to get Tony to admit that what he has done was not to protect his own life, but that of their children. Luke pleads for Tony's help, as they both know that whenever Helena wants, she will kill the Spencers (this includes Bobbie and by association Lucas). Tony does finally relent enough to confirm that Luke is on the right trail. He does not give Luke any information, he just lets him know that the elevator is NOT a dead end, and encourages Luke to keep looking. He gives Luke a very cryptic message. He tells Luke to think about what they said and what was left UNSAID.

AT THE PENTHOUSE:
Sorrel orders Sonny to step inside and give up his gun. Sorrel's disbelief that Sonny is unarmed turns to shock when Sonny informs him that even though he doesn't have a gun he is wearing a BOMB! Amid their arguing Sonny manages to convince Sorrel to let the others go. They rush to Alexis' apartment, where Alexis call for an ambulance. After settling Zander on the sofa, Carly rushes back to Sonny's side. Sonny orders her leave, when she refuses he tells her that if she wants to gain his trust back she will do as he says. Alexis pops in and escorts Carly back to the other penthouse. Sonny manages to convince Sorrel that he doesn't care if he dies. Sonny is tired of causing others pain and wants to be at peace. He tells Sorrel to choose his own fate. He can put the gun down, go back to prison, waste tax dollars on several years of appeals, then he'll have nice painless death or Sonny can detonate the bomb and Sorrel can go straight to hell! While Sorrel ponders which death he prefers; Taggart (who called him) arrives at Alexis' penthouse and asks what is going on. No sooner does Alexis inform him that Sonny and Sorrel are across the hall with a gun and a bomb than there is a loud explosion and the screen goes blank…
