General Hospital Update for Friday, 6-Apr-2001

Big day on GH. Carly and Gia were up to no good, Laura and Luke fought to be independent of one another, a smart Alexis figured out Sonny was behind Zander's "disappearance," and the newest "Face of Deception" launch party began.

At the courthouse, Sonny tells Zander he did a great job testifying but now he's responsible for his own security. He warns Zander to be careful. Alexis questions Roy about the exact details of his locating Zander. Roy evades her questions. Later Roy tells Sonny that he's keeping quiet about Sonny's role in Zander's disappearance only because he's returning a favor Sonny once did for him. He tells Sonny that they're even now, and he won't associate with the mobster again.

Alexis watches while Johnny gives Zander his watch. She smartly realizes that Sorel was not behind Zander's kidnapping -- and she heads for Sonny's penthouse to confront him.

In the meantime, Carly and Gia meet in the park to discuss their scheme to name Gia as the new Face of Deception at that night's party. Gia expresses her concern that she'll look bad in Nik's eyes; Carly reassures her that she'll take all the blame. A.J. eavesdrops on their conversation. As soon as Gia leaves, he tells Carly he plans to get Michael back. She reminds him that she can still use the arson information against him if he tries anything.

Liz visits Nik, who asks her not to mind that Gia will be at the launch party that evening. He does his best to convince Liz that Gia has a new perspective on the competition. He leaves to take a shower when Gia arrives home. She puts on quite an act for Liz, pretending she no longer cares about the modeling job -- all she cares about is Nik.

Laura and Luke exchange heated words when Luke refuses to let Laura have the launch party at his club. He feels she wants to have it there only to bail him out. She turns it around by saying he's rescuing her if he lets her have the party there, because so many out-of-town guests are coming, the caterers need to set things up, etc. He finally relents and agrees to the party. After Laura leaves and Roy arrives at the club, Luke tells Roy he doesn't like having his wife support him.

Over on her yacht, a joyful Helena is bragging to Andreas over the coup she'll make when she pays a "measly" one million dollars for the valuable disks that will end up destroying Luke. Stefan barges in to disrupt her happy thoughts. Later he visits Luke to remind him of his offer of $2 million for whatever it is Helena wants. Luke tells him he's still considering the offer. Luke then goes to the yacht, but without the disks. He informs Helena that their deal isn't solidified yet.

Just as Carly and Sonny are getting ready to leave for the Deception party, Alexis storms in the penthouse, demanding to know about Zander. Over at Luke's Club, the party is just getting underway. Laura is reveling in her successful social event when a reporter shows up with a magazine featuring the newest Deception ad -- with Gia, not Liz. Laura is shocked into silence!
