General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 17-Jan-2001

Laura tells Carly about the problem at Deception
and she needs to leave town to take care of it. Carly is all for Laura going and handling the problem without her.

Alexis tells Sonny about Zander skipping town. Sonny thinks it is because Sorel got to him. Once Alexis tells Sonny about Emily they realize he must have gone to California to see her. Alexis wants Sonny to get some of his men to find Em and Zander. Sonny tells her to calm down and he will get someone on it but it will take a few days because he doesn't want Sorel to find out Zander is gone.

In California Emily is glad to see Zander. She yells at him for leaving without discussing things with Alexis first because he could have jeopardized the case against Sorel. Emily tries to convince Zander that he could lose everything if the police find out he skipped bail. Zander says if she is alright at the school then he will turn around and go back. Emily tells him she is miserable and feels like she is in prison. The Head Mistress drops by to discuss Emily's trying to run away, while Zander hides in the closet.
Emily tells the Head Mistress she would like to stay and give St Catherines a chance. Emily tells Zander she was only putting on an act and the sooner they leave the better. Zander gives Emily a bus ticket that is good to go anywhere and they take off.

Outside of Kelly's Stefan tells Gia she isn't worthy of Nicholas, and he will tire of her. She tells him he is no better than Helena. Lucky and Liz come along and Lucky wants to know what is going on. Gia tells him she has no interest in what Stefan has to say so Lucky tells him to leave. Gia asks to speak to Lucky alone, much to Liz's annoyance. Gia tells Lucky that Stefan said she would never fit into Nicholas' life and she wants to know if it is true. Lucky tells her that Nicholas doesn't care about the Cassadine Lineage and Nicholas wants to be his own man. Gia worries because Nick loves Stefan like a father and his opinion matters, but Lucky assures her Nicholas thinks for himself and even though he loves Stefan he doesn't use him for a role model. Lucky tells Gia not to give up on Nicholas.

Liz is upstairs waiting for Lucky in bed. They talk about how great their lives are together.

Helena tells Nicholas about Stefan kidnapping Chloe and faking his own death. Nicholas doesn't want to believe her, but Helena tells him enough to make him question what was going on. Helena tells him if he has any doubts he should talk to Stefan. Helena tries to convince Nick she has always been there for him and Stefan just poisioned his mind against her. Nicholas acuses Helena of turning Stefan, the man he loved, into someone just like her. Helena tells him that the Cassidine heir has to do without love and it is time for him to face his responsibilities as the next Cassidine heir.

Gia arrives home to find Nicholas going on about how much Stefan has meant to him, she assumes he wants her to move out but he tells her he needs her to stay. He tells her Stefan faked his own death and he is now dead to him.
