Laura tries to let Gia down gently by telling her that Carly only asked her to test on a whim and because Carly doesn't like Elizabeth. Laura tells Gia that Laura wants Elizabeth, but because Carly is her partner, Gia will still get her test shoot for the "Face of Deception". A discouraged Gia later sees Nikolas at Kelly's and tells him about the conversation between her and his mother. Nikolas tries to raise her spirits and tells her that she has as much of a chance as Liz since Carly and Laura are equal partners. Gia's spirits start to pick up until the rest of the gang arrives and she realizes they are all headed to Laura's office for a surprise birthday party for Laura. Elizabeth is going and Nikolas feels sorry for Gia. Outside of Kelly's, he asks the others if he should invite Gia along, but Lucky and Elizabeth remind Nikolas that the party is only for family and close friends, of which Gia is neither. (Poor Gia, I am beginning to feel sorry for her!)
Scotty goes to see Laura on the pretense of legal matters regarding Deception, but finally runs out of legal mumbo jumbo and wishes her a happy birthday and hands her a gift. It is an engraved nameplate that says LAURA SPENCER, President and CEO. She thanks him for remembering her birthday and he tells her that he remembers her birthday every year. They kiss passionately but are interrupted by the surprise party guests.
Alexis asks Carly if she can get in touch with Sonny for her. Carly assumes that Alexis is having Ned trouble again and is not very sympathetic. Carly informs Alexis that she only gets a couple of minutes a day on the phone with Sonny and she is not going to waste her precious phone call time on Alexis and her marital troubles. Alexis then informs Carly that this has nothing to do with Ned but that she was threatened by Sorel and Sonny needs to know about it. Carly agrees to ask Benny to try and reach Sonny for Alexis.
Roy talks to Mac about Larkin's release. Mac wants to go strictly by the book, but Roy says that Larkin is a danger to Hannah and Bobbie and he is going to do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
Mac and Felicia discuss their past and their future. They both agree that they want the other to be happy and that they want to try and remain friends for the girls' sake.
Bobbie shows up at Roy's. He isn't home so she sits on the sofa and begins looking at the Christmas cards he has received. She sees a letter along with a picture that disturbs her. Later, when she asks Roy about it, he has no idea what letter or picture she is referring to. (Could it have been planted?)
Zander has a busy day. First Mac confronts him about his plea to Alexis for better protection while in jail. Mac doesn't take kindly to the implication that any of his officers are working for Sorel. Then, Roy drops in to tell Zander to "keep the faith" and that as long as he sticks to the truth, Sonny will protect him. Emily goes to see him and tells him all about the GH Christmas party and how much fun it will be if they can go together. (I wonder what world she is living in!)
Alexis finally shows up with good news. The judge has agreed to drop the murder charge in exchange for Zander's testimony against Sorel. Alexis reminds Zander and Emily that he is still facing kidnapping and drug dealing charges, although those charges do not carry the death penalty. Zander and Emily are ecstatic at the news and Emily hugs him. Alexis also tells him that, depending upon Sorel being convicted or not based on Zander's testimony, that what happens with Sorel may have a positive effect on the other charges in Zander's favor and he possibly could get a much lighter sentence. Emily hugs him again, and again, and again, and again ...
Sorel has something up his sleeve and seems very pleased with himself. He tells one of his men that "Mr. Corinthos made a lethal tactical error by leaving town."
(But don't underestimate Sonny, Sorel, because that would be a tactical error on your part!)
Carly can't find Johnny outside the penthouse door. As she cautiously looks around the corner and calls out his name, the elevator door opens! Sonny is home and Carly runs into his open arms and hugs him tightly. As he hugs her back he smiles, flashes those oh so awesome dimples, and says, "I told you I'd be home for Christmas!" (Sonny's dimples are the ultimate climax to an otherwise humdrum show for a Friday. Then again, Sonny's dimples are the ultimate ... period!)
Have a Merry Christmas everyone :)
