General Hospital Update for Friday, 15-Dec-2000

Chloe brings Stephan a Christmas tree to Wyndemere. Stephan admits that he has never personally decorated a tree, that task was always left to the servants. Chloe is surprised but promises Stephan that it will be fun to hang the ornaments and put up holiday decorations themselves. She tells him that she will come back to help and they can do the tree together. Stephan informs Chloe that he has no Christmas ornaments so she tells him that she will bring them herself. They make a date for the following Tuesday and Chloe agrees to bring the decorations and promises Stephan that it will be fun. She then tells Stephan that she must dash off or she will be late for Ned and Alexis' rehearsal dinner. He offers to escort her to the launch.

After they leave the room, Luke, who had been hiding in a closet comes out. His purpose is to break in to Stephan's wall safe. As Luke emerges from hiding he says to himself, "Yet another beautiful blonde. This creep is a babe magnet!" However, before Luke can crack the safe he hears someone approaching so goes back to his hiding place. This time Stephan enters with one of his private eyes. Luke overhears Stephan tell the man to continue to keep Helena under constant surveillance. The PI informs Stephan that Interpol released the Ice Princess to Helena in Istanbul. Stephan then speculates aloud that Helena probably has the Ice Princess in a safe deposit box in Istanbul. Luke is thrilled to overhear this news. Stephan informs his man that within a few days he will again gain control of the Cassadine Estate and he will take possession of the Ice Princess then.

After the two men depart from the room Luke again comes out of hiding. This time he is successful in his attempt to open the safe. Luke helps himself to some "traveling money" and also finds one of the Cassadine Rings in the safe and takes that as well. Later in his office, Luke puts the Cassadine Ring on his finger and smiles with a wicked satisfaction at his latest heist.

Laura is at Kelly's trying to convince Elizabeth that she would be the perfect new "Face of Deception". However, Liz is not convinced and offers up numerous reasons why she is not "model" material. Laura is not going to give up though and has a comeback for every obstacle Liz throws at her. Then Lucky joins his mother in her quest to convince Elizabeth after he passes Gia on his way into Kelly's and as she is leaving tells Lucky that his girlfriend is throwing away the chance of a lifetime! Eventually Liz agrees to a "test" shoot only but nothing more at this point. Laura is satisfied. As Laura leaves Kelly's she sees Scotty and invites him and Serena over to her house for a Christmas tree decorating party. Scotty agrees to come and says that Serena will love it.

Sonny tells Carly that he has to go to Puerto Rico for a while. Carly is frightened for his safety and doesn't want him to go. She tells him that she and Michael need him and it is too dangerous for him to go personally, since Jason is already there and supposedly handling business. Sonny tries to reassure Carly that he will be safe and promises to be home in time for Christmas. Carly gets angry then and accuses Sonny of not really meaning it when he tells her and Michael that they are his world. She asked him if he was just faking enjoyment that day when they went and picked out their Christmas tree, knowing the whole time that he may not be there to share Christmas with them. With tears in her eyes, Carly then grabs her coat and purse and heads for the front door. Sonny asks her where she is going and she tells him that she has to be at the Q's for the wedding rehearsal dinner. Sonny says that he doesn't like the idea of Carly going over to the Q's and that something bad always seems to happen when she is there. As Carly is leaving she informs Sonny that at least SHE isn't putting her life in danger by what she is doing and then slams the door behind her.

Gia goes with Florence to pick out a Christmas tree for her mother. They are having fun at first and Florence is excited about landing the administration job at GH and shares her enthusiasm with her daughter. They have fun for a while, but soon get into the same old argument about the reason for Florence moving to Port Charles. Gia is tired of her mother always telling her and her brother what to do with their lives. Florence insists that it is because of her love for her children that she is so concerned, however Gia simply sees it as her mother's lack of trust and approval of her kids.

Tony, Bobbie, and Lucas run into Roy at the tree lot. Roy is there to tell Bobbie that they have to meet later and talk about what he has found out about her bank accounts, accidents, forgetfulness, and other strange happenings lately. Lucas is happy to see Roy and that irritates Tony. Bobbie agrees to meet Roy at Kelly's later. When Bobbie and Roy finally meet up at Kelly's they try to figure out who would have not only a motive but also the opportunity to set Bobbie up. Roy then tells Bobbie that he found out from Agent Ford that Larkin is out of jail and back on the streets!

Alexis arrives at the Q's late and begins to explain to Ned about her dead cell phone, flat tire, and all around bad chain of events. She is already beginning to hyperventilate and Ned helps her calm down. Then Chloe arrives after Alexis and apologizes to Lila for being late. Then Chloe tells Alexis the bad news, the warehouse in Milan caught fire and her wedding dress went up in the blaze. Alexis begins to hyperventilate again, but Chloe has saved the day by finding a basic dress at Wyndam's and has people working on it as they speak to insure that it will be a perfect original finished in time for the wedding. Alexis takes a seat at the table, but after an outburst from Cook and the traditional Q family bickering she gets up and leaves the room.

Nikolas is the only one who notices her departure and goes to look for her. When he finds her she is in a state of total panic and tells Nikolas that she has to leave. Nikolas tells her he loves her and that he will make an excuse to the family for her unplanned departure.

Alexis goes to Sonny's because she feels that he is the only one that is a sane adult at this point in her life! Sonny lets her vent and then, in a way that only Sonny can, slowly and patiently calms her down and lets her know that everything will be fine once the wedding is over. He also tells her that things have never been better for him, and that marrying Carly was the best thing he has ever done. Alexis is disappointed that Sonny will be in Puerto Rico on her wedding day but he promises her that his thoughts will be with her and reassures her that everything will work out fine.

Later, Carly arrives home from the Q's after a discussion with Lila regarding her feelings for Sonny and the argument that they had. Per Lila's advice, Carly admits to Sonny that she is concerned not only for his safety but also for the future of their family. She says that she does not want to lose Sonny. Sonny assures her that he will be fine and promises to be home by Christmas Day. Carly is still sad, but not angry. They kiss goodbye and Sonny leaves for the airport.
