General Hospital Update for Monday, 23-Oct-2000

General Hospital moved at a fast pace today which involved 4 very strong, independent females... Alexis, Laura, Helena, and a fiesty, determined Emily.
After Alexis fainted, Sonny gave her very strong coffee ,and tried to console her. She is quite fearful of marriage.. a commitment to Ed, and ,yet, she loves him dearly. She seems to feel that she will lose the independence and strength that she has acquired if she marries. It does not seem to bother Ed too much because he wants this 6th. marriage to be "FOREVER". Ed would like for them to take a trip to celebrate his daughter's 6th. birthday, and to share their desire to marry. Alexis tells him that Lois is the one who intimidates her, but Ed quickly reassures her that he loves her more, etc. In the meantime, Laura tells a patient, supportive Scott that she is ready to move on. She quit her job, is filing for divorce from Luke, and, in essence,is getting rid of" the old", and starting on a new adventure. Scott says, "IT IS EVIDENT THAT I NO LONGER MUST PROTECT YOU." On the other hand, Luke in his sinister, dark clothes confronts the conniver Helena as she lay in her bed. He tells her that she has messed up her son's head. She tells him to do whatever he wants to do to her, but if he kills her, Lucky will suffer. She tells him that she has programmed lucky which DR. Collins can't fix.Because, Luke feels that, perhaps, there is a strong link between Helena and his son, he kisses her and leaves. Helena is determined that Lucky "must remember his queen."
Emily met Zander in the park to give him money so he could return to Canada, but Lucky and Nicholas spied him with her and jumped him. Of course, Emily has feelings for Zander so she tells them to lay off. At this time, Taggart comes, arrests Zander, and takes Emily to the station to give a new statement. She pleads with Taggart, Mack, and her mom and dad to believe her. She says, "HE did not hurt me or kill Ted." The question that all have asked is: Why are you defending this guy who kidnapped you?? It's not 100% clear to anyone just now.
