Friday’s episode was interesting from start to finish with the exception of the lame Chloe and Stefan scenes, but perfection is hard to find these days.

Let’s just cover Chloe and Stefan and get it over with. Chloe accused Stefan of being complacent about his situation. She spent the day in vain, trying to get down the cliffs to the beach. Stefan replied that rather than being complacent, he’s being reasonable whereas she risked her life. He used the game of chess as an analogy to Helena’s “game” of “kidnapping” them. When he learned that Chloe doesn’t know how to play chess, he suggested they spend the evening together, with him teaching her chess.

Now to the good parts . . .

Jason and Carly have such incredible chemistry. Why can’t they be together? Why? OK, so they were still at Jake’s and Carly was still trying to convince Jason to take her and Michael out of the country. She used the “family” trump card, but Jason wouldn’t go for it. He told her she was fooling herself that she’d be happy forever with him. He reminded her of the days when she declared herself in love with Tony. She said that was totally different, but Jason said it really wasn’t. He then asked her if she thought they’d be living together as lovers. When she enthusiastically responded yes, he shot her down by telling her that it would never work. She seductively reminded him of how good sex was between them and then promised it would be even better now. Jason told her that she would destroy him if they became lovers. He said he loved her and would always be there to “save” her.

A very disappointed Carly stormed out of Jake’s and returned to the penthouse. She instantly accused Sonny of having told Jason to turn her down. He told her he hadn’t done it – which is the truth – and after a little more conversation, Carly suddenly announced to Sonny that she’d marry him. (It certainly makes you wonder if the only reason she agreed to marry Sonny is to make Jason jealous.)

Elsewhere, as in Prague, Roy was not supportive of Luke’s odd proposed disguises for sneaking out of the country. Things haven’t been the same between them since Luke confirmed Lucky’s story that Luke raped Laura -- plenty of tension now. Luke assumed Roy would approve of the travel plans he had made, which were to get to Portugal where some pilot Luke knows and trusts would fly them to the Florida Keys. Roy countered with Sonny’s arrangements to get Luke back to Port Charles undetected. Luke refused to accept Sonny’s help, saying he had no reason to trust Sonny. A few minutes after Roy reluctantly left for the U.S., two guys in suits pounded on Luke’s hotel door. That was near the end of the show, so we don’t know if they’re FBI, Interpol, or what.

Back in Port Charles, Jason learned the whole “dead-Ted” story from Liz, who went back on her promise to the group not to tell him. Her reason was good, though: she realized Emily had gone to the rave. Earlier that evening, Emily visited Liz at the studio; as she was leaving, she claimed that some big dinner was taking place at home. Later Monica called Liz to see if Emily was there. Once Liz figured out that Emily had lied to her, she felt compelled to call Jason for help.

Over at the rave, Gia successfully distracted Zander long enough so that Juan could actually take the keys out of Zander’s back pocket and put them back after Lucky and Nikolas had moved Ted’s body into the trunk of Zander’s car. In order to make Zander believe she wanted to be with him, Gia had to pretend she wanted drugs. After Juan had returned the keys (you’d think Zander would have felt it one of the two times Juan’s hand was in his pocket!), Gia told Zander she was ready for a high. Bad timing: Zander arrived at his car just in time to see a “disguised” Emily (hat and sunglasses, which she removed…) peering into the windows of his car. He “flashed back” to the sight of her in the hotel bed, holding a syringe, lying next to Ted. His devious smile was the end of that scene.

And that was Friday’s show.
