General Hospital Update for Thursday, 31-Aug-2000

Carly is on the phone trying to find Jason when Sonny gets home. She quickly hangs up the phone when he walks in and asks him if he knows where Jason is. Sonny tells Carly that he and Jason have a meeting later. Carly asks if Jason is coming to the penthouse and Sonny informs her that the meeting is scheduled for somewhere else because Carly has proven that she cannot be trusted. This sets off another heated discussion between Sonny and Carly and her good intentions and his inability to forgive or understand. Carly tells Sonny that now that Jason is back everything will be okay because her and Jason and Michael can move back into Jason's penthouse (as soon as he "evicts" Alexis, that is) and then Carly will no longer be an "obligation" that Sonny has to put up with and he can get on with his life. They continue to argue about the arrest and Carly's intentions. Carly informs Sonny that she has already told Jason every sordid detail about the arrest and that Jason knew that Carly was trying (in her own way) to help Sonny. Carly tells Sonny that no matter how hard he tries he will not be able to make Jason hate Carly. Carly is very insistent that now that Jason is back, everything will be fine. Sonny tells Carly that she is living in a dream world! He reminds her that he is still facing 15 years for drug trafficking charges…..

Over at the Eddie Maine concert Alexis shows up in disguise (pigtails, dark shades, and a baseball cap)….. oh ya, that "get up" won't draw any attention………LOL Needless to say, the disguise doesn't work and Ned and Alexis are swarmed by reporters wanting to know if "Eddie's Angel" is going to compromise her credibility as the defense attorney for "Sonny the drug traffic king of Port Charles!"…..

Meanwhile, somewhere in Paris, Chloe is sleeping off the "knock out" drug that was in the handkerchief. The door opens and a man slowly walks over to the bed where Chloe is "sleeping". (At least I think it is a man, he is only shown from the knees down but is wearing dark trousers and black shoes that are definitely men's ) He reaches out and gently touches Chloe's cheek briefly and tenderly, then turns around and leaves, closing the door behind him.

Jason runs into Liz on the docks and they share a big hug. Liz calls Emily and tells her to get down to the docks immediately because she has a HUGE surprise for her and whatever she does, NOT to bring Juan with her! Liz fills Jason in on what has been happening since he left. The main topic is the fact that Lucky is ALIVE! Jason thinks that is great but Liz tells Jason about the mixed signals and Lucky's bizarre on again/off again feelings for her. Emily shows up, sees Jason and runs to him and gives him a big hug. Emily tells Jason how glad she is that he is back and what a mess things are right now and that there has been sooooo much going on that she must tell him. Just then Lucky shows up and stops Emily practically mid sentence by saying that the three of them, Lucky, Liz, Em, must get to Kelly's ASAP. Liz jumps in and tells Lucky that Emily has a lot to talk to Jason about but Lucky becomes even MORE demanding as he INSISTS that the three of them get over to Kelly's NOW!! Lucky tells Emily that she will have plenty of time later to catch up with Jason on any "family" business, but that now is NOT the time. Just then Sonny shows up to talk to Jason, so Jason tells Emily to go ahead and leave with her friends and they'll talk later. Lucky, Emily, and Liz, leave and Sonny and Jason stay on the docks where they have privacy.

Over at the Q mansion Alan and Monica come strutting into the den wearing only silk robes and wide grins. Alan offers Monica some "non-alcoholic" champagne, just in case they were successful, and they are standing there giggling playfully about how much fun their "project" is….. But, never fear, Big Eddie is here to put a damper on even the slightest show of joy or happiness. As he witnesses the "adolescent and inappropriate" behavior of Alan and Monica he begins his usual lecture and Alan played the trump card today. He told Edward that if he didn't like it he can always move into the Port Charles Hotel! (it's about time Alan stands up to his daddy for a change….LOL)

Carly goes to visit Lila to tell her that Jason is back in town and to talk to her about her feelings for both Sonny and Jason. As she is pouring out her soul to Lila, Edward overhears and comes running into the room announcing that Jason is back and calls for Reginald to get the family together so they can all hear the wonderful news! In typical Q fashion, the celebration turns into a shouting match at which point Carly decides to make a quiet exit, telling Lila that Jason will be over soon to visit her.

Later, Sonny and Jason are alone on the docks and they discuss Carly. Sonny tells Jason about some of the things Carly has pulled and why she did them. Jason tells Sonny that he is beginning to understand the way Carly's mind works. Sonny denies having feelings for Carly, but Jason can see through it. Then Sonny tells Jason that Alexis told him that the only way for him to keep Carly from testifying and thus him going to prison is for Sonny and Carly to get married. Sonny looks into Jason's eyes as he says this and waits for Jason's reaction. Jason tells Sonny that Carly is not Lily and maybe Sonny and Carly could learn to be happy together. Sonny asks Jason how he can be so "matter of fact" when Sonny knows that Carly is in love with Jason and that Jason also has strong feelings for Carly. Jason says that if marrying Carly will keep Sonny out of prison, then that is what Sonny has to do!
