General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 5-Jul-2000

What a difference a millennium makes ... LOL In the 90's the exciting climax of the Fourth of July picnic was "who would end up watching the grand finale fireworks with whom" ... but not this year:)

Liz takes Emily home to the Q mansion. Emily wants desperately to shower off the feel of "death" from her body, but Liz tells Emily that she must wait until after she had been examined by a doctor for traces of any evidence that she was raped by "Ted". Since Liz was raped herself and did all the wrong things, Liz is adamant that Emily NOT shower before going to the Women's Clinic. Liz reassures Emily that she is not in this alone and Liz will be by her side for the duration.

Lucky and Nikolas open the motel room door and the manager enters, demanding to know what all of the noise was about. The guys say that their "friend" (the dead guy on the bed) just gets a little out of hand when he parties. Nikolas hands the manager a $100 dollar bill and he agrees not to call the cops and Lucky and Nik agree to keep the noise down. After the manager leaves, Lucky and Nikolas put "Ted's" clothes back on him and clean up all of the drugs and paraphernalia and any other evidence linking Emily to the motel room. They then put "Ted" in the trunk of Nik's car.

Carly overhears a private conversation between Benny and Sonny. Benny has flown down to the island to plead with Sonny to return immediately to Port Charles or else Sorel might make a move. Sonny tells Benny that he can't leave yet because he made a promise to Jason to take care of Michael and he always honors his commitments. Carly takes this to mean that she and Michael are nothing more than a "duty" that Sonny is honoring and decides that she must do the right thing for once in her life.

Back in PC at the park Tony and Lucas see Bobbie and Roy having a picnic and Lucas wants them all to spend the day together, so Tony and Lucas join Bobbie and Roy. Tony asks Roy what he is doing for a living now and Roy tells him that he is running Luke's club. Lucas becomes excited and asks Roy "So do you get to wear tuxedo's, too?" Roy tells him that he prefers to leave the black and white to the penguins, but Lucas adds, "Jerry used to wear a lot of tuxedo's!" Everyone just looks at each other. But never fear, Bobbie tries to save the day by telling Lucas how much responsibility Roy has while Uncle Luke is out of town…. Lucas quickly loses interest though, so Bobbie changes the subject and asks, "What did you guys do this morning?" "We washed Thunder" Lucas replies happily. Roy, trying desperately to be "a part of" asks Lucas if Thunder is his dog. "He's my pony! Jerry gave him to me!" Lucas answered. (Poor Roy, shot down again…..)

Jax and Chloe are having their own little private picnic at the park. Chloe tells Jax that she has a surprise for him. Jax uncovers the dish and voila … special pastries flown in from Europe! "How did you manage this?" he asks her. "You're not the only one that can tie up the phone lines. Besides, it helps to have a secretary in Europe!" (Whatever happened to hot dogs and potato salad on the 4th of July……LOL)

Alan tells Monica that he knows the signs after all these years and demands to know who her latest lover is. She looks him right in the eyes and says, "I'm pregnant, Alan!" She turns and walks away and Alan is left speechless (who says there are no surprises left in Port Charles …. Alan speechless…LOL) Later, Alan asks Monica if what she said is true. Monica tells him she isn't sure yet. "Who's the father?" Alan asks. Not to be thrown for a loop Monica retorts, "You are, deal with it!" They both calm down and discuss the joy of having another chance at parenting and to maybe even "do it right" this time! (Now that would be a twist…..LOL)

Liz consoles Emily again and reminds her NOT to shower and reassures her that she'll be back first thing in the morning to go to the clinic with her. Emily goes upstairs to her room and Juan is sitting on her bed (he snuck in through her window). Emily tells him to leave and he says, "I'm sorry and I love you." He tries to approach her but she turns her face away and yells, "Get out of here!". Juan reluctantly leaves the same way he entered. Emily breaks down into tears.

Lucky and Nikolas have successfully stuffed the dead body into an old freezer in one of the underground tunnels at Wyndemere. Just as they shut the lid Helena appears at the doorway! Nikolas and Helena have words and he tells her to get off HIS property! After she leaves he and Lucky congragulate each other on pulling it off and think they are home free….

Dara runs into Taggert and Hannah at Kelly's and says she'll see him at the station. He asks why and Dara tells him that Mac has called everyone in because an undercover cop named "Ted" has disappeared…..
