General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 30-May-2000

The phone is ringing off the hook at L&B…Liz is taking offers for interviews, Nik is ready to use the opportunity to promote other acts, Alexis is encouraging Ned, but he makes it clear the concert was a one time only deal. She tries to talk him into performing more…think of the money and publicity. He reminds her about the separation they'd go through. She saw how much he loved it, and he says he already knows how this story turns out: he's not Eddie he's Ned. She says, "No, they want you."

Tony tells Jax that the new drug is Chloe's shot, but unfortunately she can't get into the trial. Jax makes it clear that he will get the drug for her by whatever means necessary. *YAWN*

Edward is trying to gain Sonny's vote against the takeover, Alan points out that it's probably hopeless. Monica comes charging in and points out that Edward is a lone, and it's his own fault.

Hannah is about to take a run when she bumps into AJ. He tells her about bumping into Sonny last night on the pier, and she warns him about how violent Sonny is and reassures him that Sonny losing his baby was not AJ's fault. AJ obsesses/mopes about living with the consequences. If I weren't updating I'd be FF-ing this scene…am I just getting cranky or do these plot lines really stink? I'm sick of Chloe's tumor, AJ's sulking, and Lucky's whole story too…*sigh*

Lucky runs into Helena on the docks and tells her he's leaving Port Charles soon. Helena asks about Nik and Lulu. Lucky says he's leaving because Liz keeps hoping for something that isn't going to happen. He asks, "Why? If I don't promise to stay, will you lock me up again?" Stefan walks up and says she can't do anything to Lucky now that he's admitted that he was kidnapped. Lucky corrects him: Faison kidnapped him, Helena released him. Stefan accuses him of sounding rehearsed and smirks at Helena while Lucky walks off. He warns her that things will unravel before long. He points out that Lucky is about to turn on her.

Emily bumps into Chloe outside Kelly's. They sit down and talk about Carly losing the baby and worry about Lila and how tough things are for Emily at home with the takeover, AJ's drinking, and Carly. Em tells Chloe that no one blames Jax for the takeover, but thinks Grandfather is getting what he deserves. Chloe promises to drop by and check in on Lila.

Edward is sounding a bit desperate as he says that Sonny will vote with him: ELQ is Michael's inheritance. Edward points out that the takeover has put a strain on Jax's assets and threatens him with a few well-placed phone calls to his bankers. Alan says he'll vote with Edward because he has no choice, but he's looking forward to seeing Edward lose it all. Everyone but Edward and Lila has wandered out of the room after a well-placed pot shot at Edward. She tells him he deserves her love unconditionally (dodging his question about whether he deserves everything that is about to happen).

Back to Jax, he's now offering to buy a pharmaceutical division of a company, even though it's earnings are down, etc. The person on the other end seems to be warning him that he's financially stretched too thin, and that this isn't a good buy. He doesn't care…he's buying for their research.

Jax goes into the Q's den looking haggard. Edward won't let him get a word in as he gloats and promises to give Jax all he has. Jax finally says he needs to postpone the board meeting. We see Chloe peeking in from the hallway and overhearing.

Edward thinks Chloe has convinced Jax to be compassionate about Sonny's loss. He then moves on to tell Jax he can't call off the meeting without a good reason. They argue back and forth, Edward thinks Jax doesn't have the votes or a buyer for ELQ. He leaves saying that as of Friday ELQ will be his. Reginald wanders in and Edward tries to gloat until Regi points out that Lila would be happy if Edward had more time with her. He starts to threaten to raid Jax until Chloe finally storms in asking Edward, "How could you?" Chloe finally realized that Edward isn't the benevolent patriarch she thought he was, and she is officially going to stop defending him. (Because he is using her illness to get back at Jax.)

Mike goes in to Kelly's and Tammy comforts him about losing his grandson. AJ walks in at the tail end and Mike greets him as "the baby killer". After the commercial, AJ tries to apologize to Mike for his loss, but points out he didn't push Carly. They rehash what happened. Alan comes in and steps in. Mike sort of curses him as he storms out the door, saying he hopes that AJ experiences the grief that Sonny is going through …AJ points out he already is.

Emily bubbles into L&B as Ned is trying to drive home the point to Alexis that Eddie Mane is no more. Em fishes until Ned compliments Juan's performance. She tries to get him some local gigs since he won't let Juan tour. Juan comes in mid-conversation and Ned tells him that Juan will be opening for a tour of boy bands coming into town. Juan is ecstatic. He tells Emily that it's all because of her. Nik comes in and they make some peace. Juan is to work on his music, and stop being the janitor. He's talent now.

Juan goes upstairs to work and Liz comes out to talk to Nik. She asks him if he saw Lucky, and Nik looks hesitant to relay Lucky's message. (In case you missed yesterday, Lucky asked Nik to tell Liz to back off because he didn't think she was getting the hint.)

Back at the penthouse, Jax is talking on the phone. His deal is obviously not going well, and he is starting to sound desperate.

Alan chastises AJ for getting into an argument with Mike. He's worried that Sonny will retaliate. AJ won't live in fear. They argue about his drinking too.

On the docks, Mike is sitting and staring off into space, and Tammy finds him. He rehashes how he found out about the baby…inviting Sonny and Michael to a ball game. He said that Sonny looked like he was drowning, and he wouldn't reach for Mike when he offered. He doesn't understand why Sonny can't have the child that means so much to him. Tammy tries to comfort Mike and tells him he's not alone.

Back in the Q's den. Alan and Monica come in, and Edward tells them that Jax asked to postpone the meeting. Edward is gloating that Jax is going to throw in the towel. Monica thinks it's just a stay of execution. Lila comes in and says he'll never learn.

Back at the penthouse, Chloe comes home and says she owes Jax an apology. She tells him what she overheard. (Edward's gloating and threats.) She now sees Edward for what he is, and pledges to truly stay out of it this time. He says he's glad she isn't going to waste her energy worrying about Edward. They kiss.

Nik tells Liz that Lucky loves her, but she needs to stop expecting things to be like they were. She worries that every time she tries to tell him she's being patient she ends up pushing him further away. Nik tells her to keep trying. She gives him a big hug, and he looks kind of guilty over her shoulder.

Lucky walks along the docks, and Stefan was waiting for him. He realizes that Helena was pressuring Lucky. Lucky says he's tired of the Spenser/Cassadine war. Stefan points out that he and Laura have parted ways. He suggests that Lucky ask Nik whether he thinks Helena kidnapped Lucky.
