General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 14-Mar-2000

Yes, kiddies, I'm back! And while today's ep wasn't as spectacular as some other recent onces, it wasn't at all bad. Let's take a peek...

1) Our opening scene is on the yacht formerly known as the Titan, formerly known as the Haunted Star. Helena and Lucky are sitting down to supper, which is some French dish that Lucky pretends to be enthused over. It struck me while watching that this new guy bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain celebrity--perhaps you've heard of him--Brad Pitt? In other words, he certainly doesn't *look* Spencer-ish. Anyway, as Helena gets into another of her Luke and Laura dissings, Andreas (thank God! He's not dead!) enters, and tells Madam that she has a phone call. Helena gets up to take it...leaving Lucky alone, with an awfully pensive look on his chiselled face...

2) Juan and Emily are at L&B *again*. Juan's singing *again*. But--what's this?--he forgets the words! Horrors! He starts being deliberately melodramatic, and maneuvers his young girlfriend towards the couch (where's Taggert and that Sex Lecture when you need him?). Before anything can happen, though, Liz walks in, and the couple immediately becomes un-couply. Liz berates them for treating her differently, and they leave so that Nikolas can enter. He and Liz start talking about--what else--Lucky, and Nik lapses into melodrama as well...except he wasn't supposed to. Oops!

3) Alexis is back in her old digs, and that's where Stefan finds her. With the usual lack of preamble he asks her to "cover for him" with the police, as he wants to leave town to find Helena and Lucky.

4) Speaking of finding the lost Cassadine and Spencer, Luke and Laura have checked into a rather posh hotel, and seem to be doing well together. They lapse into the old banter about who knows Helena better, them or the cops, what Laura wants to eat for supper, and finally...the back-up ID's Luke brought. Wondering who she's going to be this time, Laura flips through them--and discovers Felicia's picture on the ID labelled Orphy Goodlove. Whoops...

5) And now we get to see the real article, sitting her daughter down to "have a talk". Felicia says that Maxie is completely justified in being angry, but nevertheless wants to explain her actions. Maxie, however, wants none of it; she overheard various things Mac said, and knows about Luke! Felicia takes this news in her stride, and explains about Lucky...but Maxie doesn't care. Refusing to listen to her mother, she runs up to her room to do her homework. (You know the kid's upset when she actually *wants* to do those 50 math problems!) Felicia's face crumples--but she hold it together, and calls Mac.

6) Back with Luke and Laura, Luke explains that he must've picked up those ID's with the others, and apologizes. Laura, however, has become quite chilly, and decides to bypass supper in favour of going out and finding their son. They leave the hotel.

7) Alexis' reply to Stefan's plea for help is an exasperated admonition not to leave town. She wonders just what it matters *who* finds Lucky, just so long as he's ultimately brought home--of course, Stefan sets her straight about the effect his bringing the boy home will have on Laura, who he has loved for half of his life, etc etc. Alexis, however, is still fairly unimpressed by Laura and Stef's complete devotion to a woman who could believe that he had something to do with keeping Lucky from her. Stef defends his feelings, and Alexis eventually decides to help him. Grimly pleased, Stef heads out to try to talk to Laura again, not knowing that she's already left town.

8) Liz and Nik continue their conversation about Lucky at L&B; Nik tells her that he can't get hold of Helena, and takes this as proof that she's off somewhere with the non-deceased. Liz admits that she has hope that her boyfriend's coming back.

9) Back on the yacht, Helena returns from her phonecall to discover an absence of Lucky at the supper table. She immediately instigates a search, and is adamant that Lucky be found.

10) In response to Felicia's call, Mac shows up at home to talk to Maxie. He sends Felicia away, then settles down to explain the situation in a way that won't make the kid run screaming for the math book. It's all very touching; Maxie seems much more willing to listen to him than her mother, and he reassures her that he and Felicia have always and will always love her and her sister. It's a family moment. Aww.

11) Emily talks to Nik about Juan needing practise at singing in front of people; Nik agrees to listen to Juan perform, but Juan doesn't tackle kindly to that idea, and runs off, trailing his girlfriend behind him. Nik looks partially bemused for half a second--then turns around to find Stefan standing just inside the door, asking where Laura is. Adopting some of his mother's chilliness from a few scenes ago, Nik informs his uncle that Laura left with Luke to look for Lucky. (Alliteration, thy name is Spencer.)

12) Speaking of the adventurers--they've gotten on-board Helena's yacht (not the one she's on with Lucky, the other one). Having regained some of their bantering abilities, they spring into action, and start turning the place over, looking for clues.

13) On that *other* yacht, Lucky has been found. He stands before Helena, who is most disappointed in him; she thought they were done with his silly escape attempts. Lucky assures her that he wasn't trying to escape, just get some fresh air; Andreas, who found him, backs him up, and Helena apologizes for jumping to conclusions--but reminds him that he needs to ask permission before wandering off. The smug young Spencer's reply is that he now knows where they are; he gives her the location of the Indian Ocean, and admits that he can read constellations. Helena is impressed, and says that he's to be rewarded...a fact that doesn't appear to make Lucky very happy.

14) Now Ned is in the sacred boudoir of Alexis Davis, and he's wearing a ridiculous-looking vest. He wants to have some words with her about how Sonny managed to get Carly and Michael out of the Q house, and she admits that she had the legal documents drawn up. Ned reveals that Edward is trying to lure him back to ELQ, and Alexis reveals that Stefan was looking for her help again...and they both realize that they're sheepishly stepping closer to their old roles of Gatekeeper.

15) More Nik and Stef at L&B. Sing, boys, sing!

16) Luke and Laura discover a model of that other yacht in their search, and wonder why it's so familiar...

17) Back with Mac and Maxie...poor man. In my humble opinion, he's in the right in this situation--but as he explains stuff to the young 'un, he begins to see his wayward wife's point of view! They discuss forgiving Felicia, and come to a consensus that "I will if you will". Of course, then Felicia and Georgie enter, and Mac decides to stick around for the evening to do some "family" stuff. Everyone's very happy, smiles all around...

18) No smiles with Ned and Alexis, though. She's explained the Lucky situation to him, and he's flabbergasted.

19) More with Emily and Liz, just so we don't forget that they exist.

20) Luke and Laura continue to ponder their model yacht--and suddenly they recognize it as their old Haunted Star. Deciding to subject it to further examination, Luke stashes it in his bag and they both leave.

21) Back with Ned and Alexis, he notices that she's taken her wedding ring off her finger. He decides that he likes this development, then awkwardly asks if she's considered moving the ring *he* gave her to the proper finger. They both realize where they're headed, and become very cutely neurotic about switching the ring position. Suddenly, it sinks in that they're--*gasp!*--engaged! Cue kissing and grinning. Aww. (That one was genuine, by the way.)

22) In his usual place (that is, two steps behind Luke and Laura ;), Stefan has finally reached Helena's empty yacht. He talks about it with the police officer that's guarding it, and learns that, indeed, his lady love and her husband have already been there.

23) Back at the hotel, the abovementioned couple take a closer look at their stolen model. Let the conjecture begin!

24) Helena's big reward for Lucky? She let him go swimming. And she apparently enjoyed his performance, too... (okay, gutterbrains, stop that. ) That boy's hair is spikier than Jax's on a no comb day.

25) Finally, we have a nice little domestic scene between Mac and Felicia. She thanks him for returning for supper--and he tells he that he wants to return for more than that. As Felicia's eyes get wider and wider, he says that he'll come home for good--IF she promises to never, ever, *ever* see Luke again. Kind of like the arrangement Carly had with AJ about never going to see Jason... Of course, Felicia accepts, and they hug. One more aww for the road, and we fade to black.

Tomorrow: In what can only be assumed to be 'The Ransom of Red Chief Redux', Sorel still has Bobbie...and Roy starts getting suspicious.
