General Hospital Update for Monday, 21-Feb-2000

Gertrude has walked in on Jax and Chloe with a photographer, and is gleeful that she has finally caught them. Chloe stumbles across the room in an attempt to get at Gertrude…the photographer notices she’s blind and has an attack of conscience. He gives the film to Jax and leaves. Chloe says nothing is more important than love and tells Gertrude she’s won. Gertrude tries to gloat until Jax reminds her that he’s a corporate raider and enjoys eating companies like hers for breakfast. He calls the police and plans to press charges. Taggert shows up and she replays the whole story of the mixed marrieds…Taggert isn’t impressed and reads her rights to her. She threatens to sic Edward on them: Chloe says to tell him she said hi. After he hauls her off, Alexis points out that it’s true: they did commit fraud. Alexis comments they’ve lost everything…Chloe disagrees as she pats Jax’s knee.

Alexis talks to Ned and agonizes about whether or not to help Sonny. Ned thinks it’s about getting the Q’s…Alexis thinks his intentions are more honorable. Ned points out that he really misses his daughter but for Brooke Lynn’s sake, he’s kept it out of court.

Bobbie talks Carly into reconsidering her situation and offers her a home in the brownstone. Carly leaves to think and Bobbie calls Monica to try and propose a solution: Carly and Michael move into the brownstone with her, and Monica and everyone can come visit until Carly and AJ work out the custody situation. Monica likes the idea but clearly doesn’t trust Carly. As they discuss it, AJ walks in saying, “It will never happen.” He points out that joint custody didn’t work last time. The moms pitch the deal to him, but he isn’t buying it. They ask him if it wouldn’t be best for Michael. He is not going to budge…Michael stays and that’s final. Carly can come or go as she wishes.

Luke and Felicia continue their quest for Lucky…a caretaker confronts them and they press him for details. A group of seven men just left…one of them matched a super-generic description of Lucky. They tell the man the boy is Luke’s son, and the guy tells them he overheard them saying they were taking him “almost home”. Luke gives the guy some cash and his numbers.

Hannah tries to confront Sonny about Carly’s baby…he’s not interested. He doesn’t care about her, and she’s just as pathetic as ever. After she leaves, she runs into Carly on the docks and tries to confront her…(BTW there’s snow on the ground, and Carly is wearing a silk shirt and no coat…) They have the same conversation as always…Carly accuses Hannah of chasing Sonny; Hannah accuses Carly of trying to trap him.

As Hannah storms off, Sonny comes up behind Carly and asks what she’s doing out there in the cold. He gives her his coat and suggest she try to take better care of herself…he actually seems compassionate, while she’s defensive. She makes it pretty clear she doesn’t want to go back to the Q’s. She begs Sonny not to take the baby away from her. He seems to be inviting to take her in, and she doesn’t want to go. She ends up going, though.

Back to the mixed marrieds…they are relieved not to have to sneak around anymore. Ned says to Jax, “No more kissing Alexis.” They swap spouses for the night and are a little sentimental as they say goodnight. Ned and Alexis leave. Jax kisses as she says, “I never knew losing everything would feel this good…”

Mac is fiddling with a video tape as Maxie comes down asking for help picking her clothes for school the next day…he’s distracted and trying to dismiss her…she accuses him of not caring. She’s showing signs of teenage angst here. :) She misses her mom. She wants to call her, and Mac admits not knowing where she is. Maxie overheard everything and wants details. She thinks her mom’s abandoned her and doesn’t like her. Mac isn’t much comfort, but he tries.

Ned and Alexis sit in bed and comment they miss cheating. Chloe tells Jax she is worried that she’s come home too soon. He comforts her and tells her to get some sleep. Alexis thinks her in-laws will be crushed, and she is going to miss being a Jax. Chloe misses her sight…and regrets the wasted time. Jax comforts her with kisses.
