General Hospital Update for Monday, 7-Feb-2000

Happy sweeps everyone! ;)

Our show opens with Jax comforting Chloe. She asks if it’s been 72 hours yet (that’s when the swelling is supposed to go down so she can see again). Tony comes in and checks her. He tells her the swelling is going down, but isn’t super-encouraging either. She offers to make him a Chloe Morgan original doctor’s coat. Alexis sits with Chloe while Tony briefs Jax and Ned.

Alexis brought Chloe truffles. Chloe is worried that the doctor isn’t as optimistic as she would like. A tear drops down her cheek as Alexis feeds her a truffle. (I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised to see that maybe Tava can act after all…this was very touching…) Tony tells the boys that while the swelling is going down, it isn’t fast enough, and Chloe should be seeing some by now. They ask about options and getting a second opinion.

Roy and Hannah continue to argue about Sonny on the docks. She tries to tell him about Sonny’s good points. Roy tries to tell her what Sonny really said: he was going to “toss her soon anyway, Fed or not”. He tries to convince her that the real Sonny is the one who was cruel to her in the park, not the one she thinks she knows.

Bobbie accidentally lets it slip to Sonny that something’s up with Carly. Bobbie tries to cover by saying that Michael needs to be around him. Sonny basically tells her when she’s ready to tell him what’s really going on, he’ll listen.

AJ tries to confront Carly about her pregnancy. He reports that Lila suspects, and she is indignant. He thinks it’s Jason’s and she is going to try and pass it off as his. AJ rips up the picture of Carly, Jason, and Michael, and tells her he’s all she has left and leaves.

Juan and Emily go to Kelly’s and bump into Liz. They wonder why she has a bodyguard. Emily wants to play the tape she and Juan made together for Liz and Juan is pretty upset about it…Emily is totally insensitive on this point! He reluctantly gives permission and leaves. Em goes after him. He sneaks up behind her and gives her a hug…guess he’s not so mad after all.

Liz plays the tape, smiles, and says she’s impressed. Sonny comes in behind her, and she says she promised not to let anyone hear it…but he convinces her to let him listen. He smiles as he realizes who is singing on it.

Bobbie and Monica chat back at the hospital. Monica asks if everything is okay with Carly…and did she happen to say anything about AJ. Monica reports that since Jason left, Carly seems to be trying to be the perfect wife again. Bobbie says to give Carly a chance, but Monica isn’t listening. Bobbie tries to tell Monica to stay out of it.

Back to AJ and Carly, he threatens to throw her out, and she says not without Michael. She says she’ll win in court, “emotional abuse and mental cruelty”. His counter, “You got knocked up by my brother.” She promises him the fight of his life…he says she has no money, no resources without him. He finally suggests he pretend that the baby is his. Everyone wins that way. Carly isn’t so sure it’s a good idea; she’s afraid that he’ll hate the baby as much as he hates Jason. AJ thinks it will be ironic. He only has one condition: neither the new baby or Michael will ever hear Jason’s name. She gives up and tells him what he wants to hear.

Juan and Emily come back into Kelly’s and catch Sonny listening to the tape. Sonny is actually quite encouraging. Juan worries that people will think he’s cashing in on Miguel’s success, but Sonny tells him his mother would be proud. Juan looks like he’s starting to consider the idea. Juan and Emily offer to share their pizza with Sonny. Juan says it’s great that Sonny’s keeping an eye on Liz. Sonny takes Emily aside to ask if Michael is okay. She says no one tells her anything, but Carly leaves him with Leticia a lot. Emily seems a little panicked and worries that something’s wrong, but Sonny tries to reassure her, and he asks her to keep an eye out.

AJ runs downstairs to tell Edward that he’s about to be a great-grandfather again. Edward is ecstatic. Carly comes into the den, and Edward starts babying her and says he knows she’s Quartermaine material, and he’s thrilled to have her around.

Bobbie runs into Roy on the docks. He says that Carly’s baby is better off not knowing that Sonny is his/her father. Bobbie is pretty adamant that Sonny needs to know. They have a big argument. (There’s a little irony that Sonny’s bedded both of their daughters…)

Chloe tries to tell her friends to go home and get some rest. Jax stays behind, and she knows he’s still there…she tells him he doesn’t have to stay. She wants to go dancing with him in the moonlight. He helps her define her dream a bit. In it, they dance in a snow-filled park with lots of lights…I don’t know the name of the song, but it’s a sweet country ballad. I think it’s called “When you say nothing at all”…she drifts off to sleep.

AJ tells Monica she’s about to be a grandmother again.

Mac asks Felicia to tell her where she is, so he can have the girls call him. (Luke is in the background.)
