General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 25-Jan-2000

AJ chats with Lila in the den, and comments that Carly has been sick the last few days and refuses to go see a doctor. He wonders aloud if she’s avoiding him.

Ned is on the phone at L&B, it appears that his distribution deal has fallen through due to some pressure. (My interpretation: Edward threw his weight around.) Chloe is sympathetic but worries that he’s advanced a lot of artists assuming the deal would go through. Ned comments that if L&B goes under, Chloe and Jax can stop pretending…

Em and Juan chat with Liz at Kelly’s. Em’s got a sling on her arm (I’m guessing she was hurt IRL (In Real Life), and their excuse was a “snowboarding accident”. Juan is “tutoring” her in history. Em asks Liz if she’s going back to her studio…this is the first time she’s going back since the bomb. She’s sure she’s ready.

Cut to Sorrel (sp?) and some other thug breaking into the studio, insisting that if there are “any clues to Jason Morgan’s whereabouts, his girlfriend will have it”.

After the commercial, we’re back to Kelly’s…Em and Juan try to be sure she will be safe…and Liz tries to reassure them. Juan goes and Em giggles and looks pretty moon-eyed about Juan. Liz comments that she seems really happy. The conversation wanders, and Em asks Liz if she regrets that Liz and Lucky never made love. Liz says if she’d known they didn’t have a future, then yes, she would have. But, she assures Em that she should wait anyway.

Jax is walking through the park and hears a scream. Turns out Hannah’s tried to teach herself to ice skate, and isn’t having much luck. He helps her up and reties her skates and offers her a lesson. They share a bit about how some days just getting up in the morning is pretty tough and talk about coping (she skates, he jumps out of airplanes…”with a parachute I hope” was Hannah’s response to that one.)

Chloe offers to cancel her afternoon plans with Jax to help Ned gang up on the distributor. He says not to worry, he loves what he’s doing and reassures her. He sends her off to meet Jax, and picks up the phone. He calls George to tell him the deal fell through. (We only hear Ned’s side of the conversation.) He asks who did it and isn’t at all surprised by the answer.

AJ keeps talking to Lila. He’s worried about Carly. Lila says to give her time. He doesn’t think he has time…Edward’s given him a big chance and he’s got to run with it.

After the commercial, Ned is waiting in the den while Edward comes in. Ned lets him know it would be a big mistake to mess with him. Edward flat-out says he’ll destroy Ned. Ned points out that this will NOT make him want to work with Edward. Monica comes in after Edward storms out, and reminds Ned of his promise to stay away. He tells her not to worry. He used to have AJ’s job, and remember, he didn’t like it. He finally found something more important than profit margins, and he’s truly happy. She sees that he’s happy. Alan comes in, and Ned baits him a bit…Monica insists that any woman would fall in love with Alan. He leaves and Monica tells Alan, “Remember the chance Edward gave AJ? Well, it doesn’t exist.” They end up making out, and AJ walks in. They start fighting about Gertrude again…AJ asks them to call a truce…he needs medical advice. He asks if one of them would look in on Carly, she seems actually sick. Monica says she’ll go right up.

Liz goes to her studio, looks around. She sits up on the ledge and tries to read. She can’t concentrate and remembers every moment with Jason from the day they met at Jakes’ to his saying goodbye. Finally she gives up and leaves.

Chloe glows in Kelly’s and Tammy guesses she has a “hot date”. (Sheesh! Watch out or you’ll get caught!) Felicia comes in and they have a long talk about love and marriage. Felicia is still struggling with Luke vs. Mac. Chloe’s advice is to talk to Mac and work it out. Felicia gives her directions to the pond where her romantic afternoon is going to be. She warns her it’s off in the middle of nowhere. Chloe comments that her date is trained in wilderness survival. Chloe reminds her she’s always there if Felicia needs to talk. They hug and Chloe goes. After she’s gone, Felicia comments to Tammy that she didn’t know Ned was trained in “wilderness survival”.

Back to the Ice Skating Lesson… (BTW, if this place is so remote that Felicia told Chloe to take breadcrumbs, how in the heck did Hannah find it?!?) Hannah asks Jax how like Brenda she is. She thinks maybe Sonny was using her as a substitute and didn’t really love her. She obsesses a bit, and Jax finally says he doesn’t know if Sonny was using her and Brenda was irreplaceable. But then again, Sonny is pretty foolish… She asks whether he tried a substitute… he says no, but he’s found someone pretty great now. After a few other scenes, she thanks him for trying to warn her off of Sonny…she starts blaming herself for everything that went wrong. Jax tries to tell her not to blame herself, but to be grateful she’s away from him. He says she DOES sound like Brenda, and he seems miffed about it. He tries to tell her she’s strong and doesn’t need Sonny. She seems confident and decides to skate on her own. Chloe walks up just in time to see Hannah fall and land in Jax’s arms while they laugh.

Fabio is riding a white horse while faries sing “I can’t believe it’s not butter”…oh wait, that’s the commercial…I don’t have to update about those.

At L&B, Juan is walking around straightening up and singing. (Frankly, he doesn’t stink, but he’s no Ricky Martin either…) Em comes in while he’s singing and he stops. Then he starts again…she smiles and he laughs. He says he doesn’t mind singing for her, but he doesn’t want to share it with the world, and no more surprise auditions. She apologizes and they kiss and it gradually gains intensity.

Back to Kelly’s, Liz tells Tammy she forgot food. The talk about things a bit: Tammy says Jason was unsafe and she’s glad he left. Jason “did right by you,” she tells Liz. As Liz leaves Kelly’s, Sorrel and his thug catch up with her and ask if she would like to talk a walk.

Juan tells Em nothing's going to happen unless she wants it to.
Hannah falls off her skates into Jax's arms, and he sees Chloe watching.
Alexis tells Helena she has some "interesting information".
Liz tells Sorrel to leave her alone.
