General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 18-Jan-2000

Hannah visits Sonny, bearing his FBI file. She tries to tell Sonny what they had together was real. She took the file to show him she loves him. She could lose her job for this. Also, since she broke the chain of evidence, the information is useless to the FBI. He is insulted that she thought he would fall for this and basically tells her she must think he's stupid to fall for that. There is no reason for him to forgive her or ever trust her again. He reminds her that he knows all about betrayal and then tells her to get out and never come back (my sentiments exactly). She leaves, and then turns around and pounds on his door, shouting she loves him and begging him to let her back in.

Monica remembers Jason's goodbye in the Q's den. Alan comes in practicing his best pickup lines for Gertrude. This cheers Monica up and they share some laughs. She offers to coach him in the art of seduction, but he says he doesn't need her help-he bought the book "10 Steps to a Successful Seduction". They giggle as they try out a few steps and end up making out on the couch.

Carly wonders how accurate home pregnancy test really are, and calls a drugstore. She's disappointed to hear they're very accurate and paces around looking stressed. Finally she puts the test back in the bag and throws it into the wastebasket in her bedroom.

Bobbie and Roy reminisce on the docks about old times.

Stefan tries to question Helena about Faison over lunch in the PC Grill. She threatens him that she will retaliate for poisoning her and storms off. Stefan wanders over to Alexis's table.

Back to Hannah, she is sitting on the docks in tears replaying the argument in her mind. Roy finds her there, sits down and hugs her.

AJ goes into the Q's den and talks to his parents. Monica tries to convince him to let Carly go. AJ worries about Michael, and asks Monica to back off. AJ is insistent that he is not going to let her go. His parents try (unsuccessfully) to help him see that he doesn't need her.

Carly is pounding on Jason's door, but there is no answer. She talks her way past Johnny and gets into Sonny's apartment. He tells her (mostly nicely) that Jason isn't coming back. She doesn't believe him and tells him about her conversation with Jason on the docks. He told her "they'd always be the best of friends". Sonny's reply: "Don't you know goodbye when you hear it?" She begs to know where Jason is because she's really screwed up this time and needs him…Sonny honestly doesn't know and wouldn't tell her even if he did know. Sonny finally says, "Jason left because of you." She begs Sonny to tell Jason she has to tell him something. He finally acknowledges that it took two to "go upstairs" and that they probably both drove Jason away. Her parting shot is: "Honey, you have no idea." And goes.

Back in the Q's den, Alan and Monica have gone, and Edward comes in to talk to AJ. AJ is defensive as they chat. Edward says that AJ was impressive at damage control from the "Carly incident", and also says that Carly has real potential as a Quartermaine wife. AJ wonders aloud if Carly is just not worth it. Edward reminds him that strong women are the backbone of the family and that AJ has the stuff to make it work with Carly-something Net will probably never do.

Back at the Grill, Stefan tells Alexis he needs her help. (We go to other plots for a while….) When we come back to them (mid-conversation) she tells him she hasn't seen much of Luke lately and suggests he ask Laura about Luke's connections to Faison Stefan worries that Laura may be a target. He wants to unravel Helena's plot before it's too late. Alexis says if she knew anything, she'd tell, and if she hears anything she'll let him know. She also makes it clear that she is quite happy with her life now and is loved by her friends. She won't give that up. Stefan wants her back but understands her desire to have a clean break from the family. (It appears we've finally buried the hatchet here. This scene was actually quite sweet…it was nice to see her feeling strong and telling someone about it….I really love her!) She wishes him good luck and goes.

As Hannah tries to tell Roy what she did (stealing the file and giving it to Sonny), he grabs the file and throws it into the water (they're on the docks). She fusses to get it back, and realizes that the evidence is gone. Roy tells her he set her up, and the file was fake.
Roy: "Do you know how close you are to getting caught?"
Hannah: "I don't care…You're a Fed to the bone and will do anything to protect your case."
Roy: "No, I'll do anything to protect my DAUGHTER."
Hannah: gives him a big hug….it seems she knows he's her father, not like he just dropped a bomb on her…

When we come back, he lectures her that she's going to end up in prison. She doesn't care…without Sonny there's no point to anything anyway. He says she's worked too hard for too much, against terrible odds, and now she's wasting it. He loves her too much to watch her do it. She says, "Dad, how did I end up here?" and falls sobbing into his arms. He is holding her, and we see over his shoulder that Bobbie's at the top of the steps watching him hold another woman and not looking pleased. Bobbie ducks back as we go to other scenes. Roy and Hannah talk about the fact that you don't get to choose who you fall in love with and he gives her some fatherly advice, even hints at the fact that he had a similar situation in his past. (Could he be hinting that he was working for the FBI way back when … ? ) She tells him she loves him. He tells her he loves her too, and to go home and get some sleep. He offers to walk her home, and Bobbie steps back out of the shadows not looking too pleased.

Carly comes home and into her bedroom, where AJ is sitting at her desk. She tries to casually look around to see if he found the pregnancy test she threw in the trash…he notices and asks what she's looking for. He tells her she looks awful and ask if she and Jason had a spat. She says, "You know what I want AJ." He replies that she's never going to get it and leaves. She takes the test out of the trash and shoves it in her purse.

Our show closes with Sonny pacing and thinking in the dark…he seems cold and maybe a little sad.
