Carly is sitting on the Q's couch reading a toy catalog as AJ comes in and asks how the party preparations are going. Carly points out that this is what they have "the help" for. He tries to stress the importance of the party to her, but she isn't too impressed. Later in the episode, Carly asks AJ if he's sick of having the same conversation/threats over and over again with her. (Little note to TPTB: THIS VIEWER IS!) He tells her she should watch out, because if she is no longer useful to him, he'll throw her out…without Michael. Edward comes in telling AJ he's incompetent and useless…more labor troubles are happening on the docks.

Juan and Emily show Elizabeth the new digs for Chloe Morgan Designs/L&B Records. Chloe comes in carrying a ton of stuff and talking on her phone. Emily and Juan wander off to do whatever it is that they do and Liz is alone with Chloe. As Chloe is going around and around with a supplier on her cell phone, the office phone rings, and Liz jumps in as the perfect receptionist. Chloe notices. Later, Ned comes in while Chloe is still on the phone and Liz hands him his messages. He is impressed that they're legible and hopes someone hired her when he wasn't looking. Chloe gets off of the phone and agrees. Liz and Chloe discuss the idea of her working as an assistant, and decide to think about it. Emily tells Ned that she's found L&B's next artist.

Sonny tells Jason that Liz stopped by and was worried about him. Jason says he will check in with her.

Hannah and Mac discuss the bomb in Elizabeth's studio. There are no traces of where it came from. Hannah tries to say that since they were after Jason and not Sonny, she didn't understand why Mac would follow up with Sonny. Mac looks at her like the clueless wonder that she is and pointedly questions her loyalty and tells her that she's not inspiring his confidence. As bubblehead leaves, Dara comes in to tell Mac that the fibers on the wig in Faison's stuff match those in the hallway outside Helena's room at Windemere. Mac tells her they have Helena's bank records and hopes they can establish a link between the two.

Emily talks Juan into singing for her…while Ned is standing outside the room. He does, and Ned listens…until the phone starts ringing and Ned comes in to answer it. Juan isn't too pleased with Emily's trick. He doesn't want to ride on Miguel's coattails. He also tells Ned that he doesn't want to be a singer, but an executive like him. Ned tells Juan that he has a good voice, but there's more than that to a successful singing career. After Ned leaves, Juan comes down hard on Emily and says she must want her boyfriend to be some hot new singer, and that isn't him. She makes her "immature little brat" face as he stalks off.

Mike runs into Gertrude in the park. Right as she's about to forgive him, Tammy walks by and Mike realizes he doesn't want this job anymore. Gertrude didn't see Tammy and invites Mike to the ELQ party with her. He says no and she calls him a horrible little man and says she never wants to see him again. Mike grins and follows after Tammy. (Actually, this was a good point about the flaws in the Mike plan: everyone in town knows he isn't who he was claiming to be…they were bound to be discovered!)

Edward continues to chew AJ out. AJ holds his own, pointing out that no matter what he did, Edward would complain and also that Ned had the same problems with labor on the docks. Edward warns AJ that he will get the board to throw AJ out. AJ remains confident and finally Edward storms off to handle the dock issues himself. Alan and Monica overhear and worry that AJ will start drinking again. Monica restates her desire to get rid of Carly.

Carly strolls through the Q's foyer and bumps into Sonny and demands to know what he's doing there. After the commercial, he says that Edward invited him. She asks about Jason, but he says Jason's being distant still. Unspoken sparks are flying a bit throughout this conversation. She tells him she's trapped and he criticizes her for not being more courageous…he knows that she's free and clear of Ferncliff. As Edward comes in, she invites Sonny to the party…which Edward says will happen over his dead body.

Jason drops by Kelly's and Liz runs out to see him. He tells her they can't see each other anymore and they share a big emotional scene where she tries unsuccessfully to change his mind. She's crying as she goes back into the diner and says she doesn't need "any more people in her life who are going to treat her like she's some porcelain doll that needs to be protected". Jason looks pretty upset by this as she goes.

Ned tells Chloe about Juan, saying he has potential and hints at the fact that he might be missing singing himself. Mike comes in and tells them that he quits. Ned tries to threaten him a little, but Mike gives the money back. Chloe is more compassionate: now they have extra information when they brief their next candidate. Ned hints that he has someone in mind. Both Ned and Chloe acknowledge that their game is getting old and are looking forward to getting back to the correct partners.

Helena meets her new towel boy in the park and reports that the PCPD is probably checking her bank records as they speak. She is pleased that they will link her and Faison…then she will have him right where she wants him.

Mac reports to Dara that three sizable deposits in Faison's accounts correspond to activity in Helena's accounts. Mac realizes this makes sense, as Faison is a mercenary…Felicia was just a distraction while he was in town on other business.

Mike goes to see Tammy and tell her that he quit. She says he didn't need to do that, but she isn't upset.

Liz drops a tub of dishes in the sink and sobs. Jason goes to the park and also looks pretty bummed as he replays his conversation with Liz in his mind. (On a lack of acting talent note: did you ever watch Friends when Joey was on Days? Remember his "Smell the Fart" acting technique? When you're trying to look serious or pensive, just pretend you're smelling a fart….that's *exactly* the face he was making here!)

Carly says she hopes Sonny will come to the party and hints that it will be worth it…Sonny agrees to clear his schedule. Edward tries to say he's not invited, but Sonny points out the Ed needs a favor from him. Lila comes in and settles it: Sonny will be there with pleasure. Once they're alone, Sonny asks Carly, "Did you invite me to spite Edward or because you have some crazy plan that's going to bore me to death?" She assures him that NO ONE will forget this party anytime soon.
