General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 18-Aug-1999

Today’s episode begins with Ned brining Chloe across their THIRD threshold, at the gatehouse. Our fearless foursome continues to obsesses about how the next year is going to be, with Chloe trying to let them back out again.

Cut to Edward, Monica, and Alan arguing about inviting Juan to dinner. Lila comes in and they begin to accuse her of interfering. Lila points out that Edward of all people should know that one’s parents not approving has no bearing on young love. She also points out that Juan is her guest, and they had better treat him well.

Juan is all dressed up and bearing flowers to give to Lila. He’s at Kelly’s and Bobbie gives him some advice about how to handle the Q’s—it’s all about taking sides. Emily comes by to pick him up. She tells him not to worry; they’ll like him.

Faison fills in Helena about her condition.

Stefan and Nik go horseback riding, and he asks Nik what’s bothering him. They talk about how Stefan was jealous of Lucky and Nik’s relationship. Stefan tells Nik that he has never disappointed him, but he’s proud of Nik for ending it so well. Nik replies saying “I appreciate your faith in me.” Stefan then goes inside to check his messages, and Katherine comes up the walk. He tries to drive her off.

Ned and Alexis talk about the new arrangement. Jax helps Chloe move into the gatehouse. Her suitcase pops open, and they see her dress from playing German tourists. She says it will be her favorite souvenir from her honeymoon. She then points out that Jax doesn’t have an souvenirs, so she gives him her sketch. He says that’s his second favorite memory of his honeymoon. What’s the first? Kissing Chloe, of course.

Reginald walks up to the Q’s door and slams it in the kids’ face. He goes into the den and announces them saying, “They’re here.” Em’s very forgiving, Juan thinks he hates him…Em says, “No he’s just in love.” The greetings are a touch awkward, but Lila greets Juan very warmly. Edward warns her off of flirting with every young man who comes through the door. Cute lines of the day:
Juan: You look beautiful Dr. Quartermaine.
Alan: Thank you.
Juan looks a little flustered, but it was cute =)
Juan continues to suck up, and completely charms Edward. Juan shares some of his family background. He went to a strict private school. They keep questioning them like he’s a total delinquent and he keeps coming off as a clean-cut charming young man. Lila gently reprimands the Doctors Q.

The Jax newlyweds head to Kelly’s. Bobbie and Jerry chat with them about their honeymoons. It was fun to watch them squirm answering questions, since they went on completely different trips…

The Ashton newlyweds join the Q’s for dinner. Lila asks them to play referee while she goes up to bed. A major argument comes about Sonny, which offends Juan and turns the evening around. Chloe calls them all “unforgivable rude” and the Doctor’s Q basically toss Juan out, telling Em that she can walk him to the door and no further. They have an awkward goodbye. Em looks like she’s about to cry.

Stefan informs Kat that Nik is busy. They fight a bit, Kat is saying there’s no reason they can’t all be friends. Stefan rakes her over the coals telling her it’s over, Nik walks up and tells him not to speak for him. Nik sends him off on his way, with Kat looking smug. She turns offers him a check, his last paycheck and severance pay, and a letter of recommendation. He gets upset, saying that the only reason she is to contact him is to talk about the baby.

Emily tries to explain to Ned and Chloe that Juan likes her, and she likes him. She’s frustrated that her parents are making it harder. Chloe tries to placate her, to no avail. Ned and Chloe head down to the gatehouse. Ned heads upstairs, while Chloe stays down, and they left the front door open. (Not a good idea, IMNSHO!) Chloe takes the dress out of her suitcase and twirls, dancing and humming to herself. As she comes around, she sees Jax, greeting her with “How about naked in a fountain?” He warns her about leaving the front door open.

They chit-chat a bit. He thanks her for letting him horn in on her honeymoon. She says “anytime”. He asks if that’s an invitation to go on all of her future honeymoons. “Only if …” she replies. He looks questioningly…she says “Only if you kiss me.” They share a gentle kiss, right in the open front door. He says “good night” and leaves. One more time: SHE’S GETTING PAID TO KISS HIM. Boy, am I in the wrong field ;)

Back to Kat and Nik, she’s on her high horse and points out that once she’s showing, everyone will of course assume he’s the father.

Stefan goes upstairs to visit his mother. Must be a boring job to play a lady in a coma on a soap opera :). He informs her that he has consolidated control of the family holdings back into his hands. Faison is waiting in the wings and hears everything. He looks like he’s getting a clue.
