General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 28-Jul-1999

Ned is dining with Stacy, a woman in the recording industry. He is totally distracted when Alexis enters and sits at a nearby table. Stacy remarks about Jax getting married. Jax comes in and kisses Alexis. Ned loses all his concentration. Stacy asks when Ned and Chloe are getting married. He says "tomorrow." Stacy leaves. Ned asks to join Alexis and Jax, but Jax wants to leave. He says they have plans and is delighted to see Ned miserable. Ned and Alexis tell each other "I miss you" and "I love you." Ned wants to spend time with Alexis but can't tomorrow - he's getting married. Later, alone in the restaurant, Ned writes a love letter to Alexis and has many flashbacks of them kissing and him singing to her.

Alan tells Monica that he thinks they've finally convinced Emily not to see Juan. He thinks they should reward her by trusting her. Maybe they can allow her to see Juan on a limited basis. Monica protests. Her daughter will not date someone controlled by Sonny. Alan says no, not date, just visit Juan in the hospital. Monica finally agrees to let Emily see Juan.

Emily sneaks into Juan's hospital room. He is surprised to see her since her parents have forbidden her to visit him. He warns Emily that someone is coming to see him who is probably a friend of her parents. Emily hears the door start to open. She hides in a closet. It's Laura. Juan apologizes to Laura for being rude when Tony introduced them. He thinks he can benefit from her guidance and the Outreach program. Juan asks Laura to convince his father to let him stay in Port Charles so he can stay with the Outreach program. Laura sees right through him. She warns him to be honest with her and not try to use her again. Laura tells him he's luckier than most kids in the Outreach program. His father wants him to live with him. She believes in the power of the family but promises to point out the benefits of the program to Mr. Santiago. When Laura leaves, Emily and Juan talk about going to the Boyzone concert when he gets out of the hospital. He gives her his hospital bracelet and she gives him a bracelet of hers. As they are about to kiss, Alan walks in. Alan calls Monica. Alan and Monica tell Emily and Juan they are to have no contact in the future. Emily tells Juan they'll find a way to see each other. When Alan and Monica bring Emily back to the house, they tell her how they were going to let her see Juan, but now they can't trust her. Juan is no longer the issue. She is grounded until further notice. She, of course, protests. They stand firm, but privately wonder to each other if they've done the right thing. Mr. Santiago tries to convince Juan that his life in Puerto Rico will be fun. They'll fish and go to baseball games. Juan wants to stay in Port Charles. He asks Mr. Santiago if he can stay for three months. The Outreach program is important to him. After Mr. Santiago leaves, Juan plays with Emily's bracelet. At home, Emily plays with Juan's bracelet.

Outside Kelly's, Katherine tells Liz that they must talk about Nik. Liz says she knows Nik broke up with Katherine. Katherine says that Nik overreacted because Liz overreacted. A woman can have great power over a man. Katherine thinks Liz has made Nik feel obligated to protect her. Katherine insists she puts Nik's interests first. She tells Liz that she (Liz) is using the "victim routine" just as Nik arrives and tells Katherine to stop it. Katherine tells him Liz attacked her. Nik defends Liz. After Katherine leaves, Nik says he wasted so much time on her. Later, Nik meets Liz after her shift. They joke about his being unemployed. Maybe he'll apply for clown school.

Katherine visits Helena. She tells her that even though she was originally following Helena's order when she started her affair with Nik, they eventually fell in love. In the beginning, she just wanted to hurt Stefan, but she cared deeply for Nikolas. She says she'll find a way to get Nik back in her life and resume their relationship. Laura enters and says "like hell you will." Laura calls Mrs. Lansbury and asks for Katherine to be escorted to the launch. Katherine tells Laura she'll win Nik back and parade him under her nose. She tells Laura she's jealous because Katherine has had her lover and her son. Katherine tells Mrs. Lansbury that Stefan gave her permission to visit Helena, but Mrs. Lansbury says Laura is in charge of Wyndemere since Stefan is not in town. Katherine leaves. Laura tells Helena that she is finished torturing those that Laura loves, now that Katherine and Nikolas have broken up. Now the only one who will suffer is Helena. Laura leaves and Faison enters. He tells Helena not to worry. He will carry out their plan as devised, with just a few minor modifications.
