General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 21-Jul-1999

Ned is preparing the gate house for a romantic evening. Someone is at the door. He assumes it's Alexis. It's Chloe, who tells Ned to kiss her and throws herself at him. She explains that Aunt Gertrude might be watching. Jax and Alexis arrive. She is ready for her conjugal visit and kisses Ned. Alexis reminds Jax that he should be somewhere else while his wife is having a tryst. Chloe thinks Jax should stay there in case Gertrude is watching from the Q mansion. Ned and Alexis go upstairs. After making love, they agree that Ned should go ahead and marry Chloe as planned. Downstairs, Jax and Chloe are on their respective phones, making simultaneous business deals. Jax throws paper planes at Chloe. One lands high on a shelf. Chloe needs it because it has her designs on it, so Jax lifts her up to reach it. She falls down into his arms and surprise surprise! -- Edward and Gertrude enter to witness it. Edward says "AHA" while Gertrude stands with a smug look on her face. Jax explains about Chloe reaching for her designs on the paper plane. Edward asks where Ned is. Jax and Chloe say he isn't there just as Alexis comes downstairs acting all bubbly and wearing a man's shirt only.

Liz is stunned to find Nik and Katherine half-undressed in Katherine's office. Katherine pretends to be surprised to see her standing there. As Liz runs away, Nik goes after her, revealing an upper body that will have many fans saying "Tyler who?" He gets dressed and tells Katherine that he must find Liz. Katherine pretends to be sorry that she didn't lock the door. Later, Laura arrives to accuse Katherine of setting up Nik to hear her defending him to his father. Laura wants to know why Katherine would want to turn Nik against his father. Katherine denies it. Laura tells her that if she loves Nik, she'll do what's best for him. Laura leaves.

At Kelly's, Hannah tells Tammy that when she was at the hospital with Juan, Sonny shut her out. Tammy is surprised to learn that Juan is Lily's son. Hannah worries that people will hold Sonny responsible for what happened to Juan. She decides to wait for Sonny at his place. Tammy is surprised to see Liz. Wasn't she supposed to be having lunch with Nik? Liz goes outside to clear off tables. Nik comes along. Liz thinks what he did was tacky. Doesn't he work like normal people do? When Liz says that Nik's secretary called to arrange the lunch, he realizes that Katherine was probably setting up Liz to see them together, because he had no knowledge of lunch with Liz. Liz deduces that Katherine doesn't want Nik to have any family or friends. She wants to be the only one in Nik's life. Before he leaves, Nik apologizes to Liz for what they suspect Katherine did to her. When Katherine comes back to Nik's office, she finds him cleaning it out. He hands her his resignation. She sees that it is blank. He tells her she's good at putting words in his mouth, so she should make something up. He wants nothing to do with her, personally and professionally. He won't let her manipulate him again.

As Juan is rushed away for more surgery, Emily asks Sonny if he spent the night with Juan. Sonny tells her what happened through the night. He then asks her if she knew that Juan thought Sonny was his father. She replies that Juan *knew* he was his father, so why won't Sonny admit it. Sonny replies that Miguel Morez was Juan's father and that he promised Lily he'd always look after Juan. Emily can't understand why Sonny wasn't nicer to Juan. She tells him that Juan wanted to impress Sonny. That is why he took the job with Moreno. Emily goes on and on about Juan. She says he's really a sweet guy. He remembers meeting Sonny when he was a child and she tells how she met Juan. Sonny is not happy to hear that Emily first met him out in public. He warns her not to talk to people she doesn't know. She tries to convince Sonny that Juan is smart and just wants to impress Sonny and be like him. Bobbie tells them that Juan has two more hours of surgery. There's a problem with his spleen. She thinks Emily should go home because it will be a long time before she can see Juan. Emily wants to wait but when Bobbie says she'll let Monica know that Emily is safe at the hospital, Emily decides to go home. Sonny offers to bring her in his limo. She accepts but insists on being dropped off down the road so she can slip back in her room unnoticed. Alan catches Emily sneaking back into the house and lets her know that he and Monica knew she was missing. She tells him about Juan's spleen and Alan says it's serious. They do a lot of hugging and Emily explains she just couldn't let Juan be alone through all this. Alan calls the hospital and finds out that Juan is off the critical list. Alan reminds Emily how seriously ill she was and how he didn't want to leave her side. He and Monica had promised Paige to watch over her. Emily says she has to go and see Juan, but Alan says no. Monica and he forbid her to see Juan. They argue back and forth and Emily leaves the house. Alan watches her leaving and gets a very sad look on his face.

When Sonny arrives at the penthouse, Johnny tells him there is a visitor. He enters and sees Hannah whom he tells about Juan. She tries to comfort him, telling him she knows he would trade places with Juan if he could. She wants to go upstairs with him but he dismisses her, telling her thanks for stopping by. When Hannah goes back to Kelly's, she tells Tammy that she knows Sonny needs her, but he keeps pushing her away. Meanwhile, Sonny is on the phone yelling at someone to find Mr. Santiago. Juan needs him. He throws the phone across the room in frustration.

Outside Kelly's, Felicia tells Mac that she wants to continue with her investigation in Oyster Bay. Mac is clearly unhappy with her decision but tells her he hasn't asked why she and Luke were trapped in the crypt and has no intentions of asking. However, he is worried that Felicia is in danger, because he thinks her being locked in the crypt was no accident. She insists on working on the Q investigation. After she leaves, Mac calls Taggert and asks for someone to tail Felicia.
