General Hospital Update for Friday, 16-Jul-1999

Alexis is at the gatehouse. She sneaks in, finding Jax sleeping on the couch. She jumps on him, expecting Ned. Jax just laughs. Ned is at the mansion, talking to V in the living room. She hopes he isn't in on the scheme himself. He asks if she wants him to tell Simon to stop sending flowers. She says that she won't tell Simon where she lives. She tells him reluctantly about how Jax and Chloe set her up. Chloe comes in, and tells V that her dress is ready. V tells Ned that THIS is the worst. "What? You and Simon at the nurses ball?" Laura is at GH, talking to Amy at the nurse's station. She tells Amy that she is there to see Gayle, and that she is doing better. Luke is at Kelly's, signing off on some receipts for Tammy. She teases him about his bookkeeping skills. Lucy arrives and sees Luke. She stops short a minute then says hello.

Lucy comes over to Luke and hugs him. She says that she is sorry. Luke knows. He thanks her for her note to sympathy. She apologizes for not coming to the memorial service, her memory was gone. They sit at a table together. She apologizes again for not even calling, she couldn't think of the right words for him. But if it weren't for Scott, she would be still in NYC. "Scott? A hero?" she says that she wouldn't have it any other way, but to have Scott for her hero. He teases her about their timing, now he is free as a bird, but she is not. She asks about his marriage. He says that it's more than a separation. Amy is begging Laura for details about living at the Cassidines, the servants etc. Laura tells her about Lulu's new toys, and her first pony ride etc. Amy asks if she likes living there. Laura says that it's different, but it's hard to sleep sometimes. She begs Amy to come visit her. Amy runs off to find Gayle, just as Scott appears in the elevator. He walks up to her "Laura? It's been a while". He smiles at her. V tells Chloe that she can't go through with her date at the ball. V says that Jax tricked her into agreeing to go to the ball. Chloe asks if she isn't even interested in the dress at all. She tells V that it's a brand new design, never seen. Ned asks for some more details, then decides not to when V tells him that Simon proposed. He says that its all V's decision, he will support her. Chloe begs her to think about it, try the dress on. If she doesn't want to go, Chloe will tell Simon, no harm done. V promises to think on it, as long as Chloe can get Ned to practice two songs. Ned is surprised, but agrees. Alexis is yelling at Jax for surprising her, and he is teasing her about her "physical relationship" with Ned. He asks her about her thoughts regarding the Cassidine fortune. She says that she has given it up. He says that his only regret is not repaying Helena for trying to kill them. She says not even to involve her. Jax asks where Ned is. He tells her that he has dumped a lot of $$ into ELQ, and he doesn't think that Ned has Jax's best interest in heart as CEO of ELQ.

Alan greets Luke and Lucy at Kelly's, but then heads over to the counter. Tammy pours him coffee, then asks him about his part in the ball. He apologizes for his behavior at last year's ball, because he was so stoned. She says that he has lots of guts to get back up on the stage. HE says that he is up there this year with AJ and Edward. She says, "break a leg". Alan laughs that he hopes AJ and Edward won't actually do that! Lucy says that just because you love someone very much, it doesn't meant you were to be forever. She talks about her engagement to Kevin, and the fallout afterwards. Meanwhile at GH, Laura congratulates Scotty on his engagement. They talk a bit, and Scott says that he knows that she is stronger that she looks. Gayle comes over to talk to Laura. Scott wraps up his conversation with Laura. Chloe and Ned are at the gatehouse. Alexis says that it's about time he showed up. Jax comes out of the kitchen, surprising Ned. Chloe smiles at Jax, who offers her some of Ned's chips. Ned asks Jax what he really wants. Jax says that he wasn't informed of AJ's appointment to CEO. Jax asks why Ned hasn't stopped this appointment.

Alexis and Chloe refuse to leave the men while they talk. Ned reminds Jax of the deal of AJ's, ELQ for Michael. Ned says that he didn't think AJ would last this long, nor would he marry Carly. Ned has no idea what Edward will do next. He suggests just sitting back letting the chips fall. Jax doesn't like that idea. Lucy is talking still to Luke; she has a dreadful feeling that something will go terribly wrong at the ball. Tony has arrived at Kelly's. He asks Tammy to be his date for the ball. Felicia arrives at Kelly's also, and sits with Luke and Lucy. Lucy thanks her for bringing Chloe to town; her dresses are wonderful this year. The women start talking dresses, and Luke tries to excuse himself. Luke promises to take them both out dancing without husbands over the summer.

Chloe has taken AJ's side for CEO. Everyone else think that she's kidding, or imagining. They all try to figure out a way to tell her. Ned says that he 's a pathetic brown nosed loser, who can't even organize his sock drawer. Chloe asks Ned why he doesn't help AJ then, you are family? You have a vested interest in the family business. She asks if it's to everyone's advantage to help him succeed? Ned says that AJ has terrible judgement, and an obsession with kissing Edwards a$$, and AJ wouldn't even accept his help even if offered. Jax say that while the cousins bicker, Jax is hanging out on the cliff edge. Ned says that Edward is probably setting AJ up for a fall himself, and he will be called upon to fix it. But if Ned is out of the way, it will be easier for Jax to take over. Jax smiles. Chloe suggests that they drive Edward nuts by going into business, the two of them (Jax/Ned). They answer in unison "No way!" Leslie is out in the garden planting. Laura hands her some flowers. Laura sits down to help her mother. She sits for a moment, then tears form. She remembers out loud that Lucky used to love to help her garden. Laura tells Leslie about seeing Scotty at the hospital, and that he is getting married. Leslie has no answer. Lucy and Felicia head outside to sit and chat. Tony asks Tammy again to be his date. He knows that he is not the prime catch of the season. But she agrees, as long as he behaves. Lucy asks Felicia if she thinks Luke will show up at the ball. Probably not. Lucy feels bad for being engaged to Luke's former rival (Scott). She says that it's exciting to think of her new life with Scott, Serena, and the possibility of adopting a baby. A young blonde woman shows up at Kelly's, and plops her head down on the counter. Tammy comes over "rough night, huh?" The woman looks up "you have got to help me!"

The woman tells Tammy that her young baby keeps crying, and she can't "work" tonight with no sleep. Tammy sends her upstairs to sleep while she goes out to check on her woman's baby. Felicia and Lucy want Tammy leave, wondering where she is going. The two talk about children, and being mothers etc. Lucy has a good feeling about all this. Laura is talking to her mother. She says that she would like to start her life over, like Scott has, like Luke has. She thinks that Lucky would want her to. Ned is alone with Alexis now. Ned and Alexis are playing. She tries to jump over the couch and land on him to kiss him like she did to Jax earlier. She misses, and falls on the floor. Ned laughs at her. Jax and Chloe make a date for later. Jax smiles, watching her leave.
