General Hospital Update for Thursday, 1-Jul-1999

At the Q's, Chloe is having trouble concentrating on sketching. When Carly comes in, Chloe tells her that Jason is at the boat house with Michael. They talk briefly about doing charity work. Chloe regards most young women who join charity guilds as social climbers. Carly leaves and the phone rings for Chloe. Jax enters, talking on his cell phone. They both continue to talk business on their respective phones and they realize their business philosophies are the same.

Ned and Alexis are in bed. He is giving her a back massage. He tells her what's on his mind - marriage. Her face freezes. They discuss Chloe's potential spouses. Jax is a possibility but Alexis says Chloe would not be willing to consider him. Alexis thinks Chloe would get too attached to Jax over a year. She needs someone who would just be a friend. Ned volunteers to marry her. Alexis doesn't like the idea. He teases her. He's been married so many times. What's one more? And besides, it would really drive Edward crazy. But he says he wouldn't do it unless Chloe agrees to Alexis being his mistress. Alexis calls Jax and asks him to meet her.

Carly joins Jason and Baby Michael at the boat house. While Michael is napping, Jason rubs sunscreen on Carly. Surprise surprise - AJ arrives and says "well isn't this cozy." AJ and Jason argue about Jason being with Michael on an unscheduled day. As they start to hurl insults, Carly takes Michael back to the house. Later, as Jason is having a bit of a fit, Carly brings Michael back. Jason doesn't want Michael to see him like that so he calms down and leaves. After sunset, Carly is alone at the boat house. AJ comes along and suggests they go for a swim. He starts to take his clothes off.

Felicia and Luke are in a diner in Oyster Bay trying to think of a cover. Felicia hates to lie. They are meeting Ida Walsh. When Ida joins them, she doesn't understand what they need from her. Felicia tells her she is writing Lila's memoirs. Ida worked for the Morgans. She tells Luke and Felicia that although Edward and Elliot looked alike, their voices were so different. Edward had a deep voice and Elliot's voice was high. She says Edward and his father were very close. Edward's father died suddenly. Felicia and Luke both look curious. Ida tells them that Edward's father, George Quartermaine, was very conservative. He avoided scandal. He didn't approve of Lila and Edward because Lila was engaged to Elliot. He threatened to disinherit Edward. She remembers Edward saying "to hell with the money." Luke begins to choke on his drink at the thought of this. George and Edward never made amends. George died the next day. It was a heart attack. Right after, Edward left on a trip. Luke and Felicia ask Ida if anyone made a connection between the argument and the heart attack. When Ida leaves, Luke doesn't believe the whole story, but Felicia does. He wants to go to city hall to look at records. Later, they return to the diner, with no evidence. Luke is convinced that Edward murdered his father, but Felicia protests. Luke would like to have the body exhumed. Felicia reminds him that family consent is needed. They know that George is in a crypt. Luke tells her that with or without her, he's visiting George.

Tony is at Kelly's and Bobbie is serving him at the counter. The two of them are quite chummy, joking with each other and talking about Lucas. Tony is thrilled when Bobbie offers to save him a seat at Lucas' next game. Jason comes in and tells Bobbie about how he got upset and Michael saw his behavior. Before, he didn't have any feelings about AJ. Now he can't stand him. Jason has flashbacks of Michael and himself since Michael was a newborn. He rushes off. Jax and Alexis arrive at Kelly's. Alexis tells Jax that a new candidate has emerged for Chloe's husband.

Chloe sits alone sketching in the Q's parlor. Ned comes in. He speaks of Chloe getting married. He asks if she would consider him.
