General Hospital Update for Thursday, 17-Jun-1999

Sonny wakes up with Hannah beside him in bed. She says she didn't mean to spend the night but she's not sorry she did. They start kissing passionately. He wants her to take the night off from work but she dosn't want any special treatment at work. She wants him to respect her independence. He invites her out on his boat for the day.

Emily is editting her tapes. She thinks out loud about what Tony might have said that noone else did. While she is watching Tony's tape, the phone rings. She turns the volume off and answers the phone. It's Lucy. She's calling to find out if the tape is ready for the Ball. As she gives Emily some hints, Emily has her back to the screen and of course she doesn't see the "scenes" of Bobbie and Jerry. Lucy tells Emily to leave her tape at the desk in the hotel lobby.

Hannah arrives at Kelly's and Juan watches her. Tammy gives her a box that was delivered. They open it. It's a dress. They assume Sonny sent it. As Juan starts to eat some of the food on the table outside, Emily sees him and offers to buy him lunch. He says he's low on cash. He just came from Puerto Rico. Emily tells him that she has a brother and a cousin who could get him a job. He declines. As he's walking away, he almost bumps into Sonny and takes a long look at him after. Sonny stops to talk to Emily and Juan pretends to be on the phone while he continues to watch them. Mike comes along. He needles Sonny about needing a seat at the Ball. Sonny says he can sit at his table and goes into Kelly's to get Hannah.

Inside Kelly's, Hannah is ready to go boating. Sonny tells her Mike is performing at the Ball and is sitting with them. Sonny and Hannah go back outside and talk with Emily. Juan is still watching. When Sonny and Hannah leave, Juan asks Emily if she could help him get a job. Mike tells Tammy his objections to Sonny dating Hannah. Mike asks Tammy to be his date at the Ball, but Tammy tells him she's going with Tony. Emily makes a phone call and lets Juan know he has a job bussing tables at the Nurses' Ball. She gives him the address of the hotel. When he asks for her address, she refuses, saying she doesn't know him well enough.

At a nurses' station, Bobbie asks Luke to attend the Nurses' Ball. She thinks it's time for him to socialize a little. He insists that being out in a crowd where there's music and fun won't make him snap out of it. He can't go to the Nurses' Ball without thinking of Lucky, but hopes Bobbie will go and have fun.

Laura is still doing gardening at the country home. Stefan returns from his ride looking mighty fine in his riding pants. Laura tells him that being in the garden here makes her think of her garden at home. She hopes she will be ready to return to work soon. Stefan urges her to take her time and not jeopardize her recovery. Laura wants to go to the Nurses' Ball even though she knows it may be stressful. Stefan thinks she's been acting like people think she should act instead of doing what she wants. She thinks for a moment, then agrees. He doesn't think attending the Nurses' Ball would be wise, but Laura insists she will not crumble. Later, as Lulu is helping Laura arrange some flowers, she says her favorite color is purple. Laura becomes very sad. She tells Lulu about the purple suit that Lucky wore to a Nurses' Ball. Stefan watches from afar as Lulu climbs up on Laura's lap and they tell each other "I love you."

Lucy runs into Alan at the hospital. She becomes upset that he is not at rehearsal. When he insists that rehearsal is scheduled for later, she becomes all frazzled once she realizes she has becomes confused about her schedule for the day. They sit down and Alan sees her frustration and asks her to level with him. Lucy becomes unravelled and sinks into Alan's arms, confessing that she thinks she and Scott will never be able to adopt. Lucy tells Alan the whole story about the caseworker visiting the fire house. She seems to talk without taking a breath in her hyper-Lucy fashion. Alan listens incredulously and before Lucy leaves he tells her he thinks she and Scott would make great parents - just look at Serena.

On the docks, Nik asks Liz to attend the Nurses' Ball with him. He says it would "save his life." She was planning on just helping backstage and watching Emily's video from there. He does a lot of arm twisting and Liz finally gives in. They go to the hospital where Liz asks Audrey to go dress shopping with her.

Luke takes a walk on the docks and has flashbacks of Lucky - first, doing "Jailhouse Rock" at the last Nurses' Ball and then the hip-hop dance he and Luke did years ago.

Sonny and Hannah arrive on the docks to go boating. As they kiss, the ever-present Juan watches them.
