General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 2-Jun-1999

At the hospital, Audrey and Liz talk about how they rarely see each other and make dinner plans. Audrey tells her granddaughter how proud she is of her. Liz sees Nikolas and before she gets a chance to say anything, he denies waiting for her. He tells Liz he's there for Laura - she crashed. After Nik explains how Helena tormented Laura and what kind of a person she is, Liz still can't understand how Laura can blame herself for Lucky's death. She helped Liz when Liz was blaming herself. Nik says it's because Lucky wasn't living at home. Liz offers to tell Luke that Laura is in the psych ward. Nik tells her that he already has and he's surprised he hasn't seen Luke visit yet. Liz asks if Laura recognizes Nik at all. He says yes, but I'm not what she needs - she needs Lucky. Liz reassures Nik that Laura doesn't want him to replace Lucky. Nik opens up to her, telling her how he can't give Laura the things she needs most - Lucky, Luke. He starts to tear up. Liz takes him in her arms to comfort him just as Katherine walks by and sees them. She leaves, unnoticed. Nik wishes he could help Laura deal with everything that was going on. Liz remembers that after her rape, several people tried to help her, but it wasn't until she helped herself that she made progress. Lesley is on her way to the cafeteria and stops to tell Nik and Liz that Laura is sleeping soundly. Nik asks her to tell Laura he loves her when she wakes up. Nik and Liz hold hands, comfort each other. Nik goes to see Gail. Liz gets on the elevator. Katherine sees Liz alone. After Nik is finished talking to Gail, he and Katherine talk about Laura and how he has so much work to do, especially with the Nurses' Ball coming up. Katherine tells him to take the day off. He's been at the hospital all night. When Nik explains Gail said that Laura had a breakdown because she didn't give herself time to grieve, Katherine says she doesn't want to sound like a boss but she insists Nik take time to grieve the loss of his brother. Katherine thinks he should take time off to be alone or be with someone who cares. She smiles. He agrees. He'll go for a walk in the woods alone....or take Sheba. She loses her smile.

Faison is on the phone with someone and asks how Lucky is doing. He pulls out a file. The name on it: Malcolm Scorpio..another one: Robin Scorpio..the next one: Felicia Scorpio. He opens it, looks at a picture of Mac, Felicia and Maxie and runs his finger over the image of Felicia. He opens Mac's file. There's a photo of Mac, a description of his personality, and newspaper articles. Helena arrives. She has diamonds. They agree that those will keep Luke occupied for as long as they need.

Luke comes into his office and is surprised to find Felicia there. She is reading his half of the love letters. When she has finished, she announces that she has determined that the love letters are nothing more than just love letters. Luke disagrees. He has her read one line that he thinks is a hint: "as for the rest, it will take care of itself." Luke thinks maybe the secret is not Edward's, but Lila's. Felicia refuses to believe anything bad about Lila. Luke thinks she should keep an open mind. Luke finds a 3-week gap in the letters and is suspicious. Felicia tries to come up with excuses why this happened. After Felicia has left, Liz drops by to let Luke know that Laura is feeling better. He asks if Liz has talked with Laura. She explains that Lesley told Nik about Laura and she was there with Nik. Liz asks how Luke is doing. She tells him she is there if he needs anything. She hugs him and he is very touched and speechless as Liz leaves.

Chloe is sitting on the docks with diagrams in front of her. She is talking to herself, trying to figure out the diagrams. Jax sees her and of course she is once again embarrassed. She is trying to decipher the diagrams so she knows what she's doing when she votes at ELQ. Jax smirks. She has the diagrams upside down. Jax invites her to his sailboat. They go running off. (yes - running. They are racing each other)

Another couple now on the docks: Ned and Alexis. Ned thinks Edward may give ELQ to AJ as a way of punishing him for returning to singing. Alexis suggests he just "let go" of his family. She was surprised at how easy it was to do with the Cassadines. Alexis encourages him to follow his heart, pursue his singing. They are distracted by Chloe and Jax who are soaking wet and still running. The boat tipped over. Ned says he should have warned her about Jax. He tells her about the Sahara adventure. Jax and Chloe leave separately. Alexis finds a letter in Ned's pocket. Ned thinks she should wait to read it. She can't wait...opens it and reads it. It isn't finished yet. They kiss.

Felicia has made a picnic lunch for Mac. The menu is exactly like the one Lila made for Edward before he went off to war. Mac doesn't like it. Felicia brought roast beef on rye just in case. She tells him all about the love letters and how she and Luke obtained them. Mac isn't thrilled. After they are finished eating, Felicia tells Mac that she knows how Lila felt at that picnic with Edward. She was sending him off to war and feared she may never see him again. That is the way Felicia feels when Mac goes to work every day.
