General Hospital Update for Friday, 14-May-1999

Courtroom: "Custody hearings are never easy," says the judge. He goes on to say that AJ and Carly have fufilled the requirements of guardianship, and he is awarding them primary custody of their son. Edward erupts in glee while Jason looks on, devestated.

Sonny's PH: Hannah questions why Sonny's brought her there; he told her to dress up. I question why this woman is being given so much airtime in favor of Dara, V, Taggert, Ned, Tammy etc. Sonny opens the door, showing her a table full of desserts -- "You see
anything you like?"

Kelly's: Luke comes in asking for Tammy; Leslie enters after him and he turns and embraces her. "You're looking good." "You're not. And neither is my daughter."

Boxcar: Laura climbs inside, looking around with a flashlight (which makes me wonder when exactly the custody judge came to his decision; in the middle of the night??)

Courtroom: Judge orders Edward to sit and calls for order. He qualifies his earlier ruling with the addition that Jason be given partial custody, including but not limited to three
nights a week. He then goes on to remind them that they are family, and for Michael's sake, suggests they act like one. AJ and co. leave, upset, while Emily ( "we did it") embraces Jason. I begin looking for the cocktail forks.

Kelly's: Leslie urges Luke to go to Laura -- "You're cutting yourself off from the only other person who knows what it feels like to lose your child. . .I don't know how to help my daughter; you do. You created Lucky together. You need to mourn him the same way."
Luke denies her words (he calls her 'Les', which I love; why is Denise Alexander not on contract??) She points out he's still wearing his wedding ring; he responds that maybe it's time he stopped. Leslie -- "This should not have happened!" Luke -- "There's a lot of
that going around." He asks her to kiss LuLu, then leaves.

Sonny's PH: Sonny tells Hannah about the deserts; she tells him about her past. It was bad,she doesn't want to move too fast again, blah blah blah. They kiss after he feeds her deserts. (I love Sonny, but this is just really boring, sorry.)

Boxcar: Laura imagines the life Lucky's never going to have -- his wedding day with Elizabeth, the birth of their first child, a surprisingly sweet scene of the two of them and their son putting
the angel on the top of a Christmas tree. She sobs, apologizing out loud to Lucky, then zombie-like, walks off into the woods.

Kelly's: Bobbie comes in to see Jerry waiting for her; they make out in the middle of Kelly's (I like them, but, geez, get a room!). She tells him about the custody hearing; they head back to the Brownstone.

Q mansion: Edward's ranting at Alan; AJ joins them and Edward starts to rant at him, too. AJ demands the CEO position, then as Edward waffles, threatens that he'll never see Michael again
if Edward doesn't give it to him. You know, I really want to see AJ's position in this custody mess, and in theory, I can. But when he starts using his son as a bargainning chip for ELQ, I get
disgusted.

Sonny's PH: Sonny and Hannah are kissing passionatly (at least it's supposed to be passionate, I think) on the couch, his shirt unbuttoned. He unzips her dress, she pulls away saying it's moving
too fast, it's not him, it's her. He offers to have Johnny take her home if she wants; Johnny and Hannah leave while Sonny's collar is twisted, and Hannah's looking awfully disheveled. The stories Johnny
could tell. . . .

Q mansion: Monica comes in; AJ lashes out at her. He says sarcastically, as she tries to say that this is a decent comprimise, "Yeah, Mom, Jason kidnapped Michael because I was driving drunk. . ."
I say, well, now that you mention it. . .

Docks: Luke has a vision of Lucky, telling him he and Laura are the only ones who can help each other. Luke talks about getting on with life, that he's trying to honor Lucky by moving on. He
smiles softly at his son, and my heart breaks as his smile fades as the vision of Lucky disappears.

Q mansion: Carly returns AJ's ring, telling him she's not going to hold him to a promise he made her just to get sole custody of their son. He reassures her that he wants to marry her because she's Michael's mother and the three of them can be a family. She takes the ring back, and he kisses her. Meanwhile, Jason explains the custody hearing to Michael, who is a really cute kid, despite the mess of a story he's created.

Brownstone: Bobbie and Jerry have just made love in her bedroom; he tries to tell her he loves her "I don't know when it happened, when your joy became my own" but can't quite find the words. Bobbie tells him that whatever he wants to tell her, he will when he's
ready and when it's time. As he kisses her, Lucas bursts in looking for his baseball cards.

Docks: Luke flashes back to him and Laura dancing in the diner, he works his wedding ring off of his finger, brushes it across his lips, almost but not quite kissing it, stands up and in one fluid
motion, tosses it into the water.

Boxcar/Train Tracks: Laura/Lasha stumbles zombie-like on the train tracks. She collapses, sobbing, and as she gets up, sees a train headed right for her (as much as I do/did love Laura, the frustrated and annoyed part of me is cheering on the conductor as the show is. . .
