Update for May 13, 1999

Our show opens with Bobbie’s baby shower for Carly…except Carly really doesn’t know any of the guests…ouch! Let’s just point out the woman has NO friends!

Sonny confronts Jason about not telling him that Hannah was wondering if she looks like Brenda.

Hannah and Liz chat a bit at Kelly’s. Jax pops in a apologizes for mistaking her for Brenda. Nikolas wants to give Liz a job. He wants her to look over some art layouts for Deception. She doesn’t think she knows enough to be helpful. She thinks Gail sent him over to spy, and lays into him about not needing a grief counselor (and later obsesses that maybe she does). Liz decides she’s going back to Gail after all. Nikolas covers her shift at Kelly’s while she does. Katherine walks in and gives Nikolas/Liz the Evil Eye, and Jax greets her, wondering if she’s going to back out of their deal. No, they close the stock deal, and Katherine says that she’ll allow Jax the pleasure of seeing the look on everyone’s faces when he walks into the board room.

Lesley visits the hospital with Lesley Lou. Audrey asks Leslie (the grown up) if/when she’s coming back. Lulu had a check up, and she’s fine. Laura asks Leslie to babysit, and take her to Kelly’s for dinner. Tony drops by and tells Laura that the boy she saw yesterday is dead—he was stabbed in an alley last night. She’s devastated.

Carly opens her shower presents. (Imagine cheesy/campy music here….) First present: from “Letecia and Mr. Morgan”—a stuffed giraffe and a book about Africa. Chloe and Felicia keep a running under their breath commentary as the afternoon proceeds…Next up, from V, a plastic rock-and-roll guitar…for Michael too, we assume….isn’t this supposed to be a BRIDAL shower? Monica gave her a silver mug thingy (a creamer?) her super-appropriate response to her soon-to-be-mother-in-law: “Oh.” Felicia’s gift: toy dump trucks. Chloe gave a pair of cute silver-spangle overalls for Michael…she didn’t realize it was a baby shower. (Carley’s response, I didn’t either, but thanks to all for thinking of us…) Finally: Emily’s present—trashy lingerie, so AJ would get his money’s worth on their wedding night. Bobbie reprimands Emily, and Carly starts in on her, and Monica defends Emily. Carly has had enough, and storms out of the room, telling everyone exactly what they can do with their gifts.

Back to Sonny and Jason. They discuss the Hannah situation, and Sonny asks, what he should of done, say, “Hey, Hannah, just so you know…you look like my ex-fiancee and my dead wife…”

AJ looks around for Carly after the shower. Carly gets her feelings hurt easily, AJ says, especially after the pre-nup. Edward asks how he’s going to manage ELQ if he can’t manage Carly.

Monica demands that Emily apologize to Bobbie. Monica and Bobbie give her a stern lecture about playing nice when she doesn’t do a very good job of apologizing. Monica tries to compare it to if Monica did something like that at Liz’s party. Emily still doesn’t really get it, but agrees to try harder. Emily apologizes again, more sincerely.

Liz drops by the hospital, sees Audrey and finds that out Gail isn’t in. She schedules an appointment. Liz sees Laura who’s walking around like a zombie…Liz asks why, and Laura is worrying about how she let Lucky live on the streets knowing full well what they can be like. Liz tells her that nothing could have kept Lucky at home. Liz tells Laura stories of how good the times were in the boxcar with Lucky. Laura is comforted, but acknowledges that Lucky was happy because of Liz, not because of circumstances.

Katherine expresses her concern that Nikolas is trusting Liz. She tells Nikolas that she wants people with experience, not nice high schoolers. She demands he attends a meeting right now, and he is worried that he’s covering for Liz. Right when Katherine is about to force him to choose his friends or his job, the next waitress (someone I’ve never seen) shows up.

Back to Sonny and Hannah on the docks, they’re flirting more. She worries about making him angry. He asks her out for tonight. She says yes, and he tells her it’s formal.

Carly tells Jason the story of the shower. She talks about how awful Emily was. Jason warns her to be careful with his sister. They then discuss the pre-nup. Carly points out that if she signs too easliy, AJ might think something is up. Phone rings, the verdict is in. We see the courtroom and everyone rushing in, but they don’t tell us what happens.

Chloe tells Felicia more about the letters after they go to the Rose Garden and cut some roses. The doorbell rings, and Jax walks in and announces to Edward that he’s his new partner.

Taggert drops by Kelly’s to give Liz back Lucky’s subway token necklace. They have a sweet moment together. She thanks him for being good to her. The other waitress sends Liz home early. Liz plays a sad song on the jukebox and looks sad. Flashbacks of her and Lucky…cut to Laura going to the boxcar.

Final scene is Sonny and Hannah meeting on the docks for their date.
