General Hospital Update for Thursday, 6-May-1999

Today’s show opens with Liz looking really sad on the docks. She flashes back to when Lucky came back from a trip Jason sent him on, and they greet each other. Cut to Lucky taking the switch plate off of the door to his “cell”, and then walking to his computer to try to hack into the system and make the door open.

(Can I just comment on this for one moment…?!?!?!? If Faison took TWO seconds to research Lucky, he’d know better than to give the kid a computer with network access to the building!!!!! C’mon! TPTB were asleep at the wheel on this one!)

Next we see AJ’s attorney preparing him for trial. Edward is informed that he will not be testifying. They are going to let Carly be spontaneous, because she’s a better liar that way…The attorney says they will be limiting testimony to immediately family only.

Next we trot over to Kelly’s for some pointless conversation….Carly runs into Jax on his way into visiting Bobbie, who is kissing Jerry, who Jax is on the way in to visit. How neat. Carly tells Jax about her engagement, then moves on to giving Bobbie a hard time about kissing Jerry so publicly. Then she finds out that Hannah is living over Kelly’s and chases her down.

Lines of the day:
Carly (to Hannah): “There’s a chance that you’re as dumb as you say you are…but my guess would be ‘No.’…You do a great helpless bimbo routine. It’s almost as good as my own.”

Carly proceeds to give Hannah a hard time, basically stating she owns Jason. The fight between these two is priceless! Keep your eyes out for these two! Jason comes running up with the drugs he found in the coffee…throws them to Carly and tells her to flush them. Carly runs off, then Jason notices Hannah saw, and up run the cops.

Edward asks AJ if Carly has seen the pre-nup yet. (So Edward’s not to taken with her after all!)

When Monica and Alan walk into the den to meet with the attorney, Edward flamboyantly reminds her what a family woman she is, and that she will play along nicely with whatever the family needs at the hearing.

Jax tells Jerry that things are looking good for purchasing ELQ stock. He thinks Ned is supportive because he wants a “strategic alliance” to keep his job.

Liz comes in asking Bobbie if she can work for a while to take her mind off of Lucky.

Faison gives Lucky a little too detailed account of Luke and Laura’s grief, describing the scene where Luke began to throw Lucky’s possessions out the window. Lucky looks like he might cry here…poor kid. Faison tells Lucky to be careful or he will never get out of that room alive.

Laura comes in and sees Liz at Kelly’s. Laura tells Liz that when she goes through picture albums, Lucky always seems happy, but he was happiest when he was with Liz. Liz tearfully tells Laura that she gave Luck the candles that started the fire. Laura tells her to stop talking that way, she doesn’t need to blame herself.

Back to the docks, Taggert catches up with Jason and the also catch Hanna, who denies seeing anything.

Monica states she thinks Michael belongs with his biological mother…but also Jason. They lawyer and Edward try to gang up on her, with no luck. She basically says that this is what she’ll say, use it or not…Edward blows her off.

Taggert gets back to the station, and fills Mac in. Mac points out that if there was a setup, they would have found drugs. They speculate a bit about whether Justus will pick his family or his ambition…and decide his ambition.

Carly gets home and just wants to dump the drugs, but they want her to practice her testimony…and is acting really jumpy. She gets upstairs, and when she’s about to dump the drugs, AJ walks in. (Insert commercial here, of course!) AJ tells her he has a present for her…new clothes for court. She tries to get rid of him while she changes…and walks out of the room, we hear a flush. (I’m sure she dumps them, right….she won’t keep them for blackmail or anything, right? But then, why didn’t they show this….didn’t want to build a bathroom set?)

Back to the police station…Justus comes in, making sure Jason and Sonny have their attorneys. Mac advises Justus to step aside and let Dara handle this case, but Justus won’t. Alexis walks in asking, “Have you concocted the carges yet, or are you still in the brainstorming stage?” (I love her!) She proceeds to tell them the files are incomplete and to release them immediately. She proceeds to poke holes in their case, and they say Sonny can go, but Jason stays. Alexis goes to look for a judge who will listen to her…they have to get Jason out before the custody hearing.

Laura and Bobbie discuss grief. Liz falls asleep crying and thinking of Valentine’s Day. Back to Lucky trying to hack the door.

AJ gives Monica a hard time, and they all end up arguing about the case. Edward enters announcing Jason’s arrest. The show ends with Carly standing on the stairs listening to Edward’s victory speech.
