General Hospital Update for Thursday, 26-Nov-1998

Well, it looks like we won't see the Q's eat their annual Thanksgiving pizza this year!! ABC reran Luke & Laura's wedding episode from 1981 and what a treat it was!! Let's walk down memory lane....

Things start with Luke & Laura taking their vows. (I had forgotten how beautiful Genie was in the early '80's!!!)The camera pans across the crowd and we see a beaming Leslie in an absolutely horrid mother of the bride dress with Rick, Dan & Ruby (won't we miss her), Scorpio, et al..
After they are pronounced Man & Wife, L&L get congrats from the entire population of Port Charles and man, did I enjoy that!!! It was so nice to see Joe & Rose Kelly, the original Edward Quatermaine and Lila out of her wheelchair!!! Let's not forget Dan Rooney (Ruby's date)and of course, Steve Hardy.

Moving to a subplot (and of course, ya gotta have one!!) we go to the hospital. Sweet, always a virgin Annie Logan is coming on duty early. It seems she got depressed at the wedding and decided to cut out early. (I guess this was about when she got dumped by Jeff?? or was it Joe??) Anyway, it's pretty obvious she's manless about now. Noah Drake tries to fix that situation and invites her for coffee. (I had SUCH a crush on him!!!!!)

The best subplot was played out by Liz Taylor as Helena Cassidine. (She was GORGEOUS!!!) She only had 1 line, but she delivered it with aplomb; putting a curse on L&L.

While L&L are dancing, Alan also cuts out early. It looks like he's living in the Gatehouse with Susan Moore, Jason's mother. There's trouble in paradise, as Alan gets into a big fight with her. (I guess she wasn't invited to the wedding? I don't remember!!) Monica is also in a wonderful mood and goes to the hospital. You can tell from the way she's talking that she's still not over Rick Webber yet, and it was killing her to watch him with Leslie.

After the toasts, delivered by Scorpio and Ruby (we miss them!!!)L&L go upstairs to change. Laura is being helped by Amy and Tiffany. Amy's blathering on as usual and compares this wedding to Luke and Jennifer Smith's!!! (boob move!!!) I got a laugh out of Amy & Tiffany's bridesmaid dresses. It seems like we were all into the Princess Diana thing that year!!

The best part of the hour?? L&L are on the balcony of the mayor's house. Luke's just thrown the garter (caught by Rick)and Laura throws the bouquet, which is caught by none other than SCOTTY!!!!!!!!!! He's there to cause trouble, and Luke proceeds to beat the you know what out of him. (Hey, what's a wedding without a fight, right??) Lee takes it from there and tells L&L to go.

They drive off in an old Model T (the steering wheel was on the wrong side, did anyone else notice that??) and start their life together. Coming: Lucky, Leslie Lu and Stefan Cassadine......Happy Turkey Day!!!
