GENERAL HOSPITAL UPDATE FOR OCTOBER 26, 1998

This update's a little late, and it's a little long, 'cause I took a lott'a notes.

HAPPYDALE MENTAL HOSPITAL

The day opens with Jason and Carly talking about making plans for the future, specifically, how Carly is going to fit in, what with Robin and Jason living together and all. Jason has just suggested that Carly might want to get to know her mother a little better by moving in with her after she is released from the hospital. Predictably, Carly is unhappy with this idea, and just as she is telling Jason where to go, her shrink comes in to tell her that visiting hours are over. The doctor also happens to mention that AJ came by earlier and would like to visit her. Jason, who hasn't yet told Carly about Robin leaving BBQ alone with AJ, looks a little stunned by this news. Although the doctor tells Carly that it is up to her whether or not she wants to see AJ, she tells him that Jason is the only one she wants to see.

PC GRILLE - WHERE THE ELITE (AND NOT SO) MEET TO EAT

Tony has just run into his latest ex-wife (Bobbie, in case you've lost count) at the PC Grille. After their usual snippy remarks, Tony tells Bobbie that he has just overheard a very interesting conversation between the Jax brothers. Namely, he overheard Jasper chiding his brother Jerry for setting the warehouse fire that almost killed Lucas. At this point Bobbie "politely" points out to Tony that Lucas never would have been near the warehouse fire if Tony hadn't tricked Lucas into meeting him on the sly. Tony goes on to say that if she doesn't believe his story about her gangster boyfriend, she should confirm it with Jax...right about now, Tony realizes that Bobbie has known the truth about the fire all along. (Hey, the guy may be a few sandwiches short of a picnic, but he does catch on fast).

SPOON ISLAND (PART OF THE UTENSIL ISLAND CHAIN OF UPSTATE NY)

Speaking of gangster boyfriends, Jerry is taking a meeting with Stefan. Stefan would like to hire Jerry to embezzle funds from Nikolas' account and put them into a secret Swiss account where only Stefan would have access. Doing so would hide Nik's funds from Mother Cassadine. In addition, Stefan would like Jerry to get the goods on Luke and Alexis, and find out if they are the ones that loosened the railing.

MONICA'S HOUSE

The lip lock between Katherine and Nik that began on Friday continues today (must be that Big Red gum). Kat pulls away and apologizes to Nik, explaining that she doesn't want her feelings of friendship to be confused with anything more. They reminisce a little about how they met and became friends. Nikolas once again warns Katherine about Helena, and she leaves to have lunch with the Qs.

SPOON ISLAND

Jerry asks Stefan why he chose him to be the one to embezzle the funds. Stefan explains that no one would ever expect Jerry to be involved in any scheme with him, so he's ideal for the job. He will give Jerry 2 1/2 percent of everything he embezzles which, as Stefan points out, will allow Jerry to rebuild his fortune. Jerry agrees and takes off to get to work.

PC GRILLE

Before he leaves, Tony vows to get Lucas back by telling the judge about Bobbie's boyfriend and his involvement in the warehouse fire. There is, of course, just one problem - Tony has no proof. Nevertheless, Tony is undiscouraged and leaves telling Bobbie that her relationship with Jerry is just the ticket to getting Lucas back.
Mac and Felicia are having lunch at the Grille and, after seeing Bobbie arguing with Tony, ask her how she's been lately. "Oh, and by the way, how was that court-ordered visit to the shrink for you and your gangster boyfriend?" (No, they didn't really say it that way, but it was kind of a strange question to ask out of the blue, even for Mac). Bobbie explains that everything went well and tries not to look too concerned about the situation. Mac warns Bobbie that she can't trust Jerry. Bobbie leaves and the audience catches a glimpse of her concern over the whole Lucas/Tony/Jerry/Warehouse Fire thing.

"MONEY CALLS!" - Katy Bell

The big ELQ lunch that Kat had to rush off to is getting underway at the Grille. Edward has decided that being out in public will discourage the usual "grumbling and sniping" that gets in the way of family business. Ned counters that "grumbling and sniping" IS the family business. Anyway, AJ starts blah-blahing about business, when Jason jumps out of nowhere, yanks AJ out of his chair, and pins him against the buffet table. Apparently, he's a little upset that AJ won't stay away from Carly and BBQ. Robin, who has just joined Mac and Felicia for lunch, jumps in and gets Jason to back off, but not before he's made his point with AJ. Jason storms off and the Q's immediately start brainstorming about how to use this incident to prove that Jason is an unfit parent. They bicker some more and Robin realizes that AJ used her to get to BBQ.

SPOON ISLAND

Meanwhile, Nik has returned to Windymere where he is talking to Stefan about his visit with Katy Bell. Nik explains that he told Kat about how he and Lucky found Laura at Windymere, barefoot and traipsing down the stairs in her flowing Greek-flashback dress. (That's it Laura, blame it on the rain.) Anyway, Nik says that because his family has hurt Kat so much, that he and Stefan owe it to her to protect her from Helena's influence.

"A HURRICANE HAS NO HEART" - Bobbie Spencer Brock Meyer Jones Cassadine Spencer

Bobby tells Jerry that Tony overheard his conversation with Jax and knows about his involvement in setting the warehouse fire. Knowing that this will cause problems for Bobbie in her custody fight with Tony, Jerry offers to move out of the brownstone. Bobbie says that she and Lucas will miss Jerry if he leaves, to which he replies, "like a hurricane." Bobby says that she has come to rely on Jerry, and that she has made him more happy than sad.
Later, Jerry is about to say goodbye to Bobbie when she declares that she will not let Tony control her life. She doesn't want Jerry move out of the brownstone and he agrees to stay. They make out a little, and of course, Tony just happens to be watching them through the window.

THE BIKE SHOP

Jason is talking to BBQ about Carly and warns him about the Q's. Robin stops by and he thanks her for intervening with the Q's earlier. Robin tells him that what happened at the Grille was partly her fault for leaving BBQ alone with AJ. (Note to Robin: Don't take responsibility for other people's bad behavior - it's bad for the skin.) She also apologized for throwing BBQ's real paternity in Jason's face - in her heart she knows that Jason is Michael's real father. Robin goes on to say that Jason is right about the Quartermaines and that she will never again go behind his back. Jason decides to move back to the cottage.

SPOON ISLAND

Stefan asks Nik why he felt compelled to tell KatyBell about Laura's visit. Nik tells Stefan that because Kat still loves him that he owed it to her to tell her the truth about Stefan and Laura's relationship (at least how he perceives it). Nik feels that eventually Laura will choose his uncle over her husband. The prospect seems to disturb him; he doesn't like the idea of "winning" Laura (having her move in) if it means that Lucky and Katherine will lose.
About this time, Kat drops by and gives Stefan her engagement ring, breaking all ties with him, but not Nikolas.

HAPPYDALE MENTAL HOSPITAL

The doctor and Carly are just wrapping up their counseling session, when Carly suggests that maybe she would like to have AJ visit her after all.
