THE FAKE ANNIVERSARY...
Show opens with Edward talking to someone on the phone about Emily. He is saying that she can't go to the phone and Ned isn't there. AJ takes the phone from him and says that she's just upstairs changing, but they've hung up. Emily comes downstairs looking pretty old in her new dress but why do they keep putting that weird lipstick on her that makes her look like she has no lips? Monica comes in and says they started the party without her but Emily asks where Alan is.. AJ starts making some phone calls to the police to see if Alan has been admitted to any hospitals or anything like that. He gets a description on a man in a car accident. Tall, over 6 feet, 50-ish, dark hair. They say they have someone. Mmhmm. You think that's really that unique?? So anyway, AJ says he's going to go see if Alan is still at the meeting and goes to leave when Alan comes in. Just before that, Emily had given Monica a framed photo of Michael. Alan says it's a wonderful gift. He also tells them he's late because he got so caught up in telling pepole at the meeting about his family, and his anniversary. He says there wasn't a dry eye in the place at the end. Emily tells him that it's an even better gift that he's going to NA meetings [which of course he's not]. Reginald takes some pictures. Then Emily and AJ split to leave their parents alone and Monica kisses Alan. He tells her that one things the meetings have taught him is that you shouldn't put yourself in a pressure situation. She says she understands, she just wants to be close to him.

MOTHER MAY I...
Brenda confronts her mother and says that she can't believe she's alive. Veronica says she's sorry to surprise her like this. Jax excuses himself after telling Brenda that he knew about her for a while.. Brenda questions her mother as to why she would come back, and why she left int he first place. She tells Veronica not to give her any sob stories because regardless, there is no way that Brenda will ever feel sorry for her. Veronica tries to explain that she didn't leave Brenda, she left her father. Actually, he pretty much paid her to divorce him and then told everyone she was dead after the fact because murder IS illegal. Veronica admits that had she been able to fight him for Brenda she probably wouldn't have because she had no mothering instincts then. Veronica says that if she wants her to leave she will, but Brenda tells her not to play games. She won't get rid of her own mother as fast as her mother got rid of her. Brenda wants to make it clear though, that she only wants Veronica to stay purely to answer questions. Brenda then tells her that she thought she was pregnant, and she was afraid she would be a bad mother, but now she knows she would have been ok, because she's nothing like Veronica. She says she's not her daughter and walks away.

BRENDA CONFRONTS JAX...
Brenda goes back upstairs to Jax, who apologizes for keeping the truth from her. She says it's alright, she understands why he did it. She's glad that she went thru all of that knowing that she wasn't lying. Jax says she might still be lying, just not about being her mother. Jax asks her what she wants to do but she doesn't know. She had this image of her mother as a child where her mother would try to come back to her, and now it's all crushed.

VERONICA..MENTAL PATIENT...
While this is happening, Veronica is wandering around downstairs unable to remember her room number. One of the hotel guys offers to help her, and she asks if it's on the room card. He says it's not for security reasons. "916" she says..she suddenly remembers her room number. She asks him to come and open the door and turn on the lights for her while she runs a bath. She says that sometimes it's scary in a new city. He obliges.

TO DATE OR NOT TO DATE...
Lucky and Liz are still in their "not even close to an almost kiss" moment and break apart. [Boy = boy that was with girl making out. Girl = well.. you can figure it out :) ] Boy comes up and asks for the cheque. Liz says she already gave it to him but he doesn't have it. She goes to print another one. Girl coems up and asks how long they've been together. Liz comes out and Girl tells her she's really pretty and glad she's with Lucky. Boy and Girl say they're going up to a cabin, and there's only 2 bedrooms but they know they can share.. Lucky says he has to work. Boy takes Girl away who is asking what she did wrong.. [Girl is REALLY ANNOYINGLY DITZY]. Liz says if they only knew how long they'd been sharing a bedroom. She also says she doesn't mind what they think about them. Lucky says he minds. Liz looks upset and goes in. Later, after they go to lunch, Liz gives Lucky some money for the lunch. Their hands touch and they both stop for a second. They laugh and go off with each other.

THE TRIAL..
Now the trial. Laura is on the stands and Luke is looking mighty DISpleased with the whole thing. Laura says that she was at the Bacchanalia but didn't tell Luke because there didn't seem to be a reason to, and because she knew it would cause friction. She says that she went to the parapet and heard Katherine and Stefan talking. They didn't seem happy, but she points out that Stefan's voice was not raised in the least. She couldn't make out what they were saying though. She says that Nikolas went to visit her and even though she told her there was nothing between her and her uncle, he didn't seem to believe her so that's why she went to the ball. Back on the parapet, Alexis asks how far away from Katherine was Stefan and Laura says about 10 feet -- not close enough to touch. She asks Laura to describe what happened, but Laura says it happened really fast. She stepped out onto the parapet and Katherine stepped back and fell. Stefan never moved from his place until after she had fallen. At that point Laura though he was going to fall too. Stefan then rushed her off the grounds because they both knew that there was no sense in people knowing that she'd been there. Dara wants to know why Katherine was scared, but Laura admits she doesn't know, and she can't answer if it was because of her because she doesn't know. Dara wants to know if their was at all a sexual relationship between Stefan and Laura at any time. After a hesitation, she says there wasn't. At this point, Luke looks devestated and shocked. That's all Dara wanted to know and Luke gets up, looks at Laura and walks out. Laura jumps up and runs after him. Stefan goes to go after her but Alexis stops him. Helena comes up and Stefan says that she'll die in prison for what she's done, but she says she won't, and leaves. Nikolas then gets really happy because he realizes that Laura has finally chosen him for once. Nikolas and Alexis leave the courtroom and Stefan looks up with a smile on his face. Katherine is there and says that he must be happy, now that Laura has finally chosen him.
Laura gets home and realizes that Luke has left. SHe puts her head on the table, crying for Luke to come home.
