Subject: GH_ Update Monday August 10 Date: 8/11/98 12:27 AM From: Marina Wolf, fullsun@sonic.net GH Update Monday August 10 COURTHOUSE Stefan reluctantly admits to Alexis that Laura was on the parapet with him and Katherine. She wonders what Laura was doing at the Bacchanalia - Stefan confesses that he sent her an invitation. Alexis wants to know what Stefan and Katherine were arguing about. He admits that Kat found the portrait of Laura and was upset. Alexis now believes she has a firsthand witness in Laura, but Stefan orders her not to involve Laura. Alexis counters that his reasons (for protecting Laura) are not good enough. Stefan looks pensive; Alexis is angry. She wants to call Laura as a witness, but Stefan forbids her, of course. Alexis feels that Laura is the only one who can prove that Kat's death was accidental. Stefan thinks Laura's presence would be scandalous, would appear as collusion. After Stefan steps out, Alexis calls someone (Luke?) - tells them she has good news and bad news... SPENCER HOUSE Luke and Laura are sitting on their porch, talking about LuLu's birthday party. They are excited that they spent almost an entire day as a family (since Lucky showed up), the first time since Laura returned home. They decide to make their family work. Luke tells her that she won't see much of Lucky, though, as long as he is around. They talk about how much Lucky has grown up - how he's now handling himself in a crisis - that they taught him well. Laura is glad that Lucky has Elizabeth to help him. She comments that they are sweet together - protective of one another. Laura comments that Lucky is just like his father. Luke leaves to close up the club (and secretly meet Alexis). Alexis stops by to see Laura first, though. Tells Laura that Stefan told her everything and Laura looks a bit spooked. Alexis tells her that she knows Kat wasn't murdered - that she was there - and needs Laura to take the stand and clear Stefan. Laura refuses to testify. Alexis wonders why Laura and Stefan are protecting each other - is it because of Laura's marriage to Luke? Laura tells Alexis to do her job and that she promised Stefan that she wouldn't get involved. If he needs her help, she needs to hear it from him. Later Laura calls Stefan and tells him about Alexis' visit and her request . She tells him she feels selfish for wanting to keep her family together. Stefan tells her that he can protect her and Nikolas - she just needs to trust him. OUTSIDE OF KELLY'S Liz and Lucky are talking about his family. Liz comments that his house feels like a home should feel. Her family is serious - and blonde. She feels like she would have fit in better in the Spencer home than her own. Liz wonders if Lucky misses his home - he tells her that he misses seeing it the way it looks to Liz. Lucky thinks that Liz believes he is too hard on his parents. She tells him that everyone has a secret and that doesn't make them a bad person. Murty walks out of Kelly's and sees Liz and Lucky, who looks embarrassed and unsure of what to say to him after what happened at his house the other night. Murty sees their apprehension and approaches them - he wants to clear the air between them. Murty wonders if he needs to go to the cops to clear his name. They admit that he was their only suspect . They try to reassure him that it was just a bunch of coincidences that they strung together that led them to believe he was the rapist - not anything that he did or said to Liz or any other girls in school. Murty tells Liz she will have a great life - the thing she'll remember most about her sophomore year is that she made a friend for life - Lucky. Lucky smiles at Liz, taking in Murty's words. Liz and Lucky are sharing an ice cream sundae. They talk about what to do, now that they are all out of suspects. Liz tells Lucky that the police have closed her case and that is why she went off in a rampage to find Murty. Lucky is sorry and looks worried about her. Liz is still determined to find her rapist - she'll keep hounding the cops about her case - she owes it to the next girl to try. Bobbie catches Lucky and Liz sharing an ice cream sundae. She tells them it was nice to see them at LuLu's party and tells Liz that she looks great. After Bobbie leaves, Lucky tells Liz that his aunt Bobbie was right - she does look good...Liz looks embarrassed. He tells her that she looks like ãsomething got fixedä - she says it's certainly not her hair. Lucky agrees and gently strokes her hair as they look into each other's eyes. PC HOTEL LOBBY A mysterious (older) woman is chatting up Jax, telling him she can see how a woman could fall for him - her daughter that is...She tells Jax that she is the Veronica Barrett - Brenda's mom. Jax looks at her shocked. He thinks she is lying - she tells him that she disappeared when Brenda was 4 years old. Her prize for the right answer: a seat and 20 minutes with Jax. Veronica tells Jax the story of her life - that she was groupie in the 60's, led a charmed life, that her only asset was her beauty. She only married Harlan Barrett for money. She didn't want to be a mom to Julia or Brenda. Jax isn't impressed. Tells her that Brenda was only 4 years old - she doesn't remember her mother. Anything Brenda heard after the fact, Veronica could have found out as well... Veronica accuses Jax of being just a pretty boy - he looks a bit peeved. Veronica is convinced that Brenda will believe she is her mother. Jax wonders what Veronica wants w/ Brenda after all this time. Veronica says she has realized that the one true connection she has is to her daughter - someone she doesn't know. Jax wonders if it would comfort Brenda to know that death didn't separate her from her mother - selfishness did. Jax wants to know what's in it for Brenda - she is happy for the first time in her life. Veronica accuses Jax of being just like Brenda's father - he is none too pleased by the comparison. Jax agrees to lead her to Brenda if she agrees to a background check. He tells her he can be her biggest ally or her biggest enemy. Veronica reluctantly agrees and kisses Jax on the cheek - Brenda happens to see this. Brenda comes up to them. Veronica tells Brenda that she was just congratulating Jax on their engagement, that she works for a cosmetics company in France. After Veronica leaves, Brenda tells Jax that she signed her first band of L&B Records. LUKE'S OFFICE Bobbie comes by to tell Luke that he was right - that waiting Lucky out was the right thing to do. Bobbie thinks his visit for LuLu's birthday was a breakthrough. Luke comments that Lucky looks like a man now and that he is crazy about his baby sister - that is the most important thing that Luke ever gave him. Alexis stops by, a bit late for their meeting. The good news: Helena's prints have been identified on Kat's will. Bad news: there isn't any....Alexis tells Luke she wonders about his son and his family sometimes. He tells her about LuLu's birthday party. As Alexis leaves, Luke is gets more and more suspicious about her strange behavior. **the end** Lidia, the other Monday updater :o)
