Robin and Brenda meet up at Jake's; Brenda came in all jazzed
about a band she wants to sign to L & B, kept her mouth shut
about her feelings of Robin's new living arrangement, and
confided (ok, Robin pried it out of her) that she wasn't pregnant
after all. In the telling, she did not neglect to mention how
totally awesome Jax was about the whole thing. Anyway,
Brenda wasn't interested in crying on the shoulder Robin
was offering.

The man in question was trying out baby names on a pad when
his more questionable brother breezed into the penthouse to
report on the dock situation (all's well). Seeing the pad,
Jerry got the impression that he would indeed become an
uncle, but Jax sourly corrected him.

Jerry couldn't quite work up the same level of sympathy that
Jax was hoping for. The two decided to go drinkin'.

The ladies ran to the bar's back room when the band started,
and were spied by a couple of skanky dudes in the process.
Coming back from the show, Robin opined "They should
change their name to 'We Suck.'" Brenda countered that
she was really more interested in the guitar player, who
she wanted to reinvent (Johnny Bravo, anyone?).

When the two headed for the backstage door, they were
followed by the aforementioned skanky dudes. Waiting
at the back door, the two ambled up and claimed to be
friends with the guitar player; also, they recognized
Brenda and invited the gals to join them at an after-party
in their room.

(*note to Bren: hanging out at the backstage door only makes
you look like a pathetic groupie. Record Co execs would
maybe knock and then barge right in. You're lucky they
didn't offer to introduce you in exchange for a blow job.)

"Uh, yeah, later," the gals say as the skanky dudes wander
away.

Back inside the bar, the Jax Bros are there playing pool
when they overhear the skanky dudes talking about the
pathetic groupies hanging out at the backstage door,
and the one who was the Genie model.

The bros follow the dudes outside to find them all over that
gals; to scare them off, they give a song and dance along the
lines of "You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Him, Lucille," and,
getting the idea that the ladies are even skankier than
themselves, they tuck their tails and run for safety.

Later at the penthouse, Robin advised Brenda that trying
to repeat the Eddie Maine affair like Lois might not be
a good idea.

Finally alone, Jax and Brenda did what J & B do best, then
Brenda went off to shower. Jax opened a courier envelope
what's contents contained a photo of the loving couple
torn in half.

At the Q house, Edward was outlining the evening plans for his
and Lila's anniversary and threatened to nail any chemical-induced
craziness that might wreck the evening. Alan stood up and
rationalized "I have pain," but Edward was in no mood.

Monica was on the phone with Taggert, calling from the PC
Plaza restaurant where she oversaw party preps. Basically,
she was telling him to chill on the Justus/Jason front.
Getting around to biz, Tony bopped in and hassled her to
try to get his GH job back. When he tried to use his
knowledge of Alan's little problem for leverage, Monica
told him it wouldn't be wise to spread untruths. "Ahem," says
the Tone-Man, "there's this little matter of an o.d. I treated."
"Ahem to you, too," she counters, "you did Alan no favors that
night." He slid to the bar, unhappy.

Enter Bobbie, with a choice bit of gossip that Victor Collins
had been arrested for the General Homicide killings. They pitied
the Collins family for a moment, then Bobbie noticed Tony and
offered to pitch him out of the room. Monica declined.

Back at the house, Nedly returned with Emily, fresh from her photo
shoot and in a skin tight dress. She was thrilled and most of the Q's
were supportive of her new career, except Edward.

Alan tried to sneak out; Reggie was ordered to drive him to the
Plaza. He ended up at hotel with decidedly lower rent and
paid a month's advance.

The hotel owner explained the room's previous occupant left a
number of books, she'd be happy to clear everything away.
Alan told her not to bother, and when he got around to
examining them, the books all had titles like _Chemical
Dependency and You_. Spying a Narc-Anon pamplet, Alan
reached for the phone, punched one up and said "I have a
problem."

A short while later, a drug runner appeared at his door.

As party-time approached, Monica and then Bobbie approached
Tony and attempted to boot him from the room. When he
resisted their efforts, they implored him not to wreck the
evening on Lila's Big Night.

When they left Tony, a mysterious, dark-haired, big-cheekboned
woman ran up and begged his help, claiming she was being followed.
She pointed out another who was talking to a hotel employee,
and then planted one of Dr. Jones lips. When Mr. X appeared to
be leaving, she thanked Tony and ran off.

Emily came back downstairs all diva'd up, this time Edward
was more approving. Monica checked in with the news
about Tony's gatecrash and the fact that Alan hadn't yet
arrived. Edward ran off, shouting for Reginald.

All arrived at the banquet room and Tony approached, trying
to suck up to Lila. He wishes her a happy anniversary; she
tells him to take it to email.

Ned and Monica confer over Alan's AWOL status; AJ proposes a
toast which spreads around the room until Alan comes in and
picks it up.

Edward announces that A) he's booked the honeymoon suite,
B) he's booked a vacation in Lake Placid (updater's snarky
comment: Lake Placid? Yeah, I can see Lila wheeling along
those mountain trails now.)

Next, we're treated to a truly beau tribute to Lila; with piano
accompaniment Edward sings "I've Grown Accustomed
to Her Face," complete with espression shots of everyone
at the table and flashbacks to Lila over the years. (updater
is reduced to dampened eyes.)

After, Monica expressed gratitude to Alan for showing up
and behaving; hugging him, she spotted the Narc-Anon
booklet in his jacket and everyone got the wrong idea.
Alan did not disillusion them.
