UPDATE THURSDAY, JULY 2

1. Count Vlad

Stefan is sorting his mail.  Nik asks why he's throwing the cards away.
Stefan can sense the hypocrisy [All the writers are glad Katherine is dead?]
Nik says sometimes you get one that feels sincere.  Nik gets a mysterious
note: "Dear Nikolas.  It's morning now and I'm thinking of you.  I know
what it's like to wake up with an aching heart.  I wish I could take your
ache away, but believe me, I promise it does end."

Alexis comes in.  She needs to go over things.  She tells Nik to "offer
nothing."  He doesn't understand. Stefan explains: "There is no case.
Only a spurious theory which Dara Jenson cannot prove."  Alexis tells Nik
to keep his eyes on her at all times.  "I just got an unrepentant
kidnapper acquited, if I can handle that I can handle anything."

The phone rings.  It's Dara in full poisonous mode.  The trial has been
noved up.

Stefan tells Alexis about Laura and Lulu's visit.  Alexis warns him that
can't happen again.  She tells him that Katherine left him her estate.
Stefan has flashback of Katherine trying to tell him about it.  Sefan is
surprised that Alexis truly believes in his innocence.

Mrs. Lansbury has closed the guesthouse [shackup pad] and gives Stefan
the only key.

2. Dara Caught in the Headlights

At Jakes (I think) Dara flirts with Taggart.  They play darts.  She does
really well when she's shooting at Alexis' picture.  She asks why
Taggart hates Sonny, and he tells her about Sonny and Deke.  She wants to
Lighten it up and they dance.

3. The Silver Fox

Edward comes in to see Carly.  He's bearing flowers.  He tells her that
the court case is next week, and insinuates that Jason hasn't told her
because he wants to keep her locked up so he and Robin can be together.
He suggests that it was Robin's idea.  "What are you doing wallowing here
in this psychiatric hospital while the mad Dr. Jones goes free?  Why
can't Jason the Powerful release a distraught young mother who struck out
to free her infant child."

Carly insists Jason will free her.  She says all Edward cares about is
being in control.  She knows Jason better than his so-called family.

He insinuates that Robin has moved in.  Edward leaves his card with his
private number.  She says she'll call "when pigs wear toe shoes."  He leaves.

4. Teen Angst

Liz and Lucky meet outside Audrey's.  A. is out all night.  Lucky says he
needs to leave to keep a promise to himself.

Lucky visites Nikolas and asks how Nik knows about Elizabeth.  The
blinking neon "Rape Survivor Group" sign at the hospital was his first
clue.  Nik says he won't talk.

Nik goes to see Liz and assure her he won't talk.  Liz is glad, but Lucky
comes upon them and is furious.  Liz tells Lucky Nik was being nice and
made her feel better.

5. Red Flag to Alan

Emily comes in all excited from her photoshoot.  She talks to a chair
pretending it's her grandfather.  Ned joins in on the fun.  Then Emily
worries: what if she photographs like a chipmunk?  Ned: "Then you'll have
to sign up for promos for national parks."  Emily doesn't like that idea:
"Then I'd be taking pictures with squirrels instead of surfers."

Emily describes how exciting it is.  She can pretend, "then I don't have
to be ME any more!"  Alan comes in, "What are you SHRIEKING about?? You
sound like a herd of magpies!"  Ned, always helpful, inserts, "Actually,
I think magpies travel in flocks."

AJ comes in and admires Emily, and Emily ignores Ned's frantic signals
and tells aout the fashion shoot.

Alan explodes.

What med school will ever take Emily seriously?  AJ and Ned try to
protect her.  "Are you trying to make a mockery of the Quartermaine
standards?"  Edward comes in: "No, you're doing that quite well by yourself.
What's the crisis now?"  AJ: "Dad's in meltdown."  Edward: "Oh, nothing
has substantially changed." Alan says Emily "is on the road to Sodom and
Gomorrah and Ned has packed her bags."  Edward finds out this is a photo
shoot and tells Emily congratulations.

Alan says, "The Brenda Barrett road to destruction.  First a mannikin,
then a gangster's moll, then total mental collapse."  Emily, stunned, leaves.
AJ and Ned keep Alan from following her.  AJ tells Alan he needs help.

Alan tells them they are deranged.  Ned warns him that they'll restrain
him till he straightens up.  AJ says they have enabled Alan too long.
Alan tells him to shut up with that 12-step jung. "You are a pathetic
human being who needs to share his affliction with anyone who will listen."
AJ, hurt, says "and you're an addict."  "I am NOT an addict.  I am
anxious and I am depressed and I have become the brunt of this family's
hostilities." He leaves.

AJ has had Reginald take all the keys. Edward tells them that Carly's
stays are beginning to snap.  He checks with Ned about the photo shoot
and Ned assures him it was all aboveboard.  "Why bother to struggle with
adolescence if you can't at least have a little fun?"

Edward goes on to tell about his visit to Carly.  Fortuitously, she calls
just then to tell him that nyaah, nyaah, Jason and Michael are coming to
visit.  Edward tells her to squeeze all these visits in, as she'll need
her strength.

Ned and AJ listen to this.  Ned warns Edward: "wait till Jason finds out."
AJ goes out to a weeping Emily.  "Shoot me."  Emily says she's by gosh
going to model if they like her.  Alan sneaks out and buys hydrocodone.
