From: cordet@munged.mindspring.com (maryb) Subject: GH: Update Wednesday 6/24 Date: Sun, 28 Jun 1998 13:45:06 -0500 X-Server-Date: 28 Jun 1998 18:34:01 GMT Happy birthday, Mom! Jason finally bothered himself to visit Carly. NOTE: BBQ's hair is starting to follow the shade of his grandmother's (this week). Jason claimed to have found a friendly judge and she was pretty stoked to see them, until she found out Jason'd been back for a full day, but chose to squire Robin to the Nurses' Ball before reuniting mother and child. Jason side-stepped an argument, Carly swallowed one, and he left. Taggert was nearly busting his pants with the news of Sonny's return; no matter how much time Mac spent begging him to remain calm, no matter what enticements Dara tried to put in his way, our boy threw caution to the wind and set out reel in the object of his affection. Many reunions for Sonny. First, with Mike, who was a bit brusk, speaking of racehorses as having "turned on him like family." (Nice regional reference: the Saratoga Harness track.) When Sonny offered to help bail out his dad's debt, Mike gave him more 'tude and reamed him for the non-contact, comparing it to the situation when he left Sonny as a child. Finally, Mike admitted that he wanted his son to stay in town this time, but Sonny said that was out of the question. Unwilling to hold back his passion any longer, Taggert broke up the family scene. He stood in the doorway. Sonny sat at the bar. Their eyes met and locked. They looked away. Their eyes locked again. Sonny played it cool. "You've ignored me. I'm not going anywhere with you." "Alejandro's also waiting. He missed you." Soulfull gaze. "Really?" They left, and on their way out the door, Taggert looked back to Mike. "Don't worry Mr. Corbin. You're not losing a son, you're gaining two more." Filly and V. found Mac to poke holes in the Jake-as-PC murderer case, but Mac reminded V. she was being payed to work Katherine's case and to keep tabs on Jerry Jax. Filly, OTOH, ... In comes Tony to inform Mac of his planned lawsuit - somehow PCPD were responsible for Jason crushing his hand and wrecking his life. After, Filly got back on Mac's case about re-opening the General Homicide case, but their discussion was disrupted when the recently reunited lovers entered the precinct. Marcus whispered sweet nothings in Sonny's ear, telling Corinthos that he was wasting his time with Jason, who could never be as faithful as he. Finally, Mac pulled Sonny away to the interrogation room, leaving Taggert jealous and sullen. Again, Dara reminded him of the treats awaiting, if he could just rein in his passion, but it was no good; Marcus gazed wistfully at the blinds, but couldn't see through them to the conversation between Mac and the object of desire. Mac and Sonny were discussing Robin, actually, and how she was endangered by the Gummy Bear Mobster and his Peep Partner. Sonny pledged that not a hair on her head would be harmed. When Jason showed up, Taggert taunted him ("He's with *me* now"), and then Tony showed his face, which led Jason to remind the ex-doctor that he was only alive because Robin wished it so. Jason also threatened Tony with an "accident." V., at that time, was back at the docks - Jerry caught her trying to tail him, and outed her with a smirk. She denied his charges and wandered away. Jerry had a meeting with what's-his-face (Carlos?), in which it was determined that Sonny was going to hell. AJ woke Alan up to confront his father over his dependency. Alan got huffy and directed AJ to butt out. Meanwhile, Edward, Ned, and Monica went on damage control, calling everyone in the media and explaining that Alan was fine, just a little under the weather. Once they all got off the phones, the hand-wringing ('how could we be so blind') began, at least until Emily came in. Instead of telling her anything of substance, they told Emily she should offer her father all of her love and support. When Alan, still in his tux from the ball, made it in, they first attempted to coax him into admitting he a had a problem, but he insisted the problems were all theirs and pointed fingers all around the room. Alan: "I don't dance the 12-step 2-step." Monica then brought up her deductions about Amy's role in all this, and again, Alan deflected. (This was actually my favorite scene of the day. Good swatch) Monica: "You are having an affair Alan. But your lover has left you weak, distracted, wasted and absolutely no time for me." Monica: "Amy must have found out about your mistress in a bottle, and somehow you convinced her to cover for you." Alan: "There's nothing to cover." Monica: "Oh really? Then why are you shaking?" Alan: "Because I feel like hell from the likes of you -" Monica: "Because you need a pill Alan." Alan: "Hey Monica, have you never taken a pill when you were in pain, or had a drink to calm your nerves, or had a FLING when you were BORED?" Finally, Monica told him a) she hadn't told Emily and b) to shape up or ship out. When Emily came upon him, she did was she was instructed to - offered him all of her love and support, and an excuse or two. Endnote from Alan: "I think it's you and me against the world, now."
