General Hospital - Update for Monday June 1

--Early evening. Alan has crashed the car into a tree. It is dented and
smoking and the windshield appears to be damaged. Emily was with him in
the car when the accident happened.

Emily complains that her neck hurts, so Alan offers her his pain pills.
Emily asks why he has them in his pocket. He covers up by saying that
his hand has been sore lately. Then Alan breaks down - says he doesn't
know what's wrong with him. He claims it's because he expects too much
from himself and everyone else expects too much from him ; that
everything he does goes wrong. Alan is afraid that Monica will never
forgive him for the accident. Emily comforts him, telling him that it's
just an accident...

--Wyndemere

Mac and Taggart arrest Stefan for Katherine's murder, while Nik and
Alexis look on. Alexis comes to Stefan's defense, claiming that there is
no evidence. Stefan orders Nikolas inside and Stefan agrees to cooperate
with the police. They take him to the PCPD; Nik and Alexis follow them
there.

-- the Docks

Lucky finally meets Liz at the docks. He is dazed, his mind off in some
other place. Liz tells him that she ran into his dad and his dad said
there was a family emergency. Lucky says that it's too late: his mother
is back; he ran into her at the Luke's club. Liz asks how it was to see
his mother, was she happy to see him, was he happy to see her? Lucky
responds only by saying that she is his mother...; he lets out a deep
sigh, walks toward the water, closes his eyes and lowers his head.
Elizabeth looks on, wondering why he is so troubled.

--Luke and Laura's house

After running into Lucky at Luke's club, Laura arrives home and rips
into Luke for keeping her in the dark about Lucky's leaving home, as
well as Nik getting shot. She feels it was a violation of trust between
them. Laura tells Luke that Lucky accused her of perversion for marrying
Luke [after her raped her]. Luke tells Laura about how Lucky found out
about the rape, that he started asking questions, that this all started
because his friend Elizabeth was raped. Laura is upset because Luke did
not call her as soon as Lucky found out. Luke said that it didn't
concern her - that it was all about men and power, a young man coming
into his , an old man abusing his, Lucky's hero worship of Luke crashing
and burning. Laura accuses Luke of trying to destroy her relationships
with both her sons, by keeping her in the dark about what is going on
with them. Laura suddenly realizes that when she was home last week,
Lucky wasn't there - Luke had lied to her. Laura tells Luke that she
doesn't even know him anymore. He tells her that this is her particular
kindness - to know and to forget..

--Alan and Emily in the car

Alan apologized for freaking out on Emily. Emily thinks he's just in
shock or something. Alan can't believe how forgiving Emily is, even
though he has disappointed her again and again. Emily reminds him that
he was once disappointed in her too. Alan looks at the busted windshield
and laments that he is no better than [drunk] AJ, just more
sanctimonious. Emily says that this accident is nothing like what
happened to Jason, that he wasn't drunk and no one was hurt. Emily tells
Alan that Monica doesn't need to know about the accident; he can take
the car to get fixed early tomorrow morning. Alan is surprised that
Emily is willing to cover for him. Alan complains of back pain and Em
hands Alan back the pills he gave her. He tells her to keep them , just
in case her neck hurts later - he's got more at home. They agree to keep
the accident a secret between them.

--back at PCPD

Alexis asks Mac about a bail hearing for Stefan and can't understand why
it can't be set up while Stefan is being booked. Taggart asks Stefan
for his official statement; Alexis interjects that he will not be
speaking to any police yet. Stefan then demanded and got his one phone
call. Alexis asks Mac what evidence there is against Stefan. He holds up
the dagger in a plastic evidence bag, saying that it is perfect for
loosening a little mortar.  Stefan doesn't deny that the dagger is his;
he claims that Luke planted it inside his desk to frame him for
Katherine's murder. Mac suggests that maybe Stefan is trying to frame
Luke instead. Stefan gets very angry and accuses Mac of being an ally of
Luke's. They get in each others' faces and Alexis finally steps in
between the two men. Then, Dara walks in and welcomes Stefan to the
American criminal justice system with a smile...

--back at the docks, a few minutes later

Lucky tells Liz that his mother didn't know that he left home and that
all of the other ãnewsä was a shock to her. Lucky lamented that his
mother just made excuses for his father, saying that what happened
between his parents was just bad timing, that no one was at fault. He
says his family is built on something that is just wrong and that they
tried to cover the rape up, hoping it would go away, but it didn't. Liz
wonders if she will always be the kid who was raped. She wants to know
how his mother found a way out. He tells her she married her rapist. Liz
argues that he should try to see if from their point of view, but Lucky
is fearful that if he were to get inside their heads, put himself in his
father's shoes - what if his shoes were to fit?! He stands dazed,
realizing what it would mean if his worst fear were to come true.

--back at Luke and Laura's house

Laura realizes that this whole thing started because of Elizabeth's
rape. Luke tells his wife that Lucky found Liz in the park after the
rape and he brought her home, had Bobbie check her out. He tells Laura
that Lucky wanted to go kill the man that had killed Elizabeth's spirit,
had looked to Luke for help, for answers as to how this could have
happened. That night Bobbie thought Luke should tell Lucky about raping
his mother, but he felt that one had nothing to do with the other. Laura
agrees with him, wonders how Lucky found out about the rape. Luke
informs Laura that Nik was the one who told Lucky that Luke raped
Laura, when Lucky mistakenly thought the Stavros had been the Laura's
rapist. Luke and Laura seem to have different interpretations of what
really happened that night. She says they just had a bad night; Luke
can't believe Laura says this. Laura admits telling Stefan about that
night, while she was Stavros' captive in Greece. She says that Stefan
must have come up with his own conclusions, but that she never herself
called it rape. But she tells Luke that she will never go back, never
relive that night for anyone, not for him or Lucky or anyone else, and
it is obvious that she wants to keep the pain buried inside of her.

--back at the docks

Liz realized that Lucky is afraid that he could be just like his father
- that he could rape a woman too. He fears that he may have the same
tendencies as his father. He says he thinks about it all the time. What
if he has to much to drink or ... Liz assures him that he could never
hurt anyone like that, especially since he has watched over her like an
angel for the past three months. She tells him that she trusts him with
her life. But he doesn't listen. She tells him not to listen to the
voices inside his head - the ones that told her it was her fault that
she was raped. She vows to help him, just as he helped her. Lucky
looks on, seemingly shell-shocked, trying to take in Liz's words.

--back at PCPD

Alexis reluctantly tells Stefan that DA Jensen will not let him post
bail. Nik argues that they will put up everything they have, but Stefan
interjects that his attorney is now in charge. Stefan has other plans
for Alexis - to watch over Nikolas and [ironically] protect him from
Luke and Helena. She agrees and convinces Nik to go home, because Stefan
can't stand to have Nik see him get fingerprinted and photographed -
it's agony for him. Nik starts again about how Luke is trying to frame
Stefan and Nik vows revenge against Luke. Alexis looks on, careful to
not show her own fear.

--at the Quartermaine's, later that night

Alan and Emily arrive home. AJ finds them in the living room and wonders
why they are back so late. They make up a story about visiting Michael,
having pizza with Jason and Robin, and Alan waiting for her in the car,
not wanting to cause trouble with Jason. AJ is getting a bit
suspicious. AJ and Emily go up to bed; Alan stays sitting on the couch,
thinking about the close call he had with Emily and the car.

--back at Luke and Laura's house

Laura wonders how her family can solve its problems if they are not all
under the same roof anymore. Luke wonders to Laura if he gave Lucky a
false version of the events almost 20 years ago, but even so, they
have to deal with it. Laura argues that they need to worry about what
is going on right now - namely Luke's choosing to shut Laura out of both
of her sons' lives. Laura is upset that Luke deliberately misled her;
she resents him for it. He sees something else in her anger
(transference of anger about the rape into anger about losing her sons,
maybe??) and decides that it would be better if he went down to the club
and let her be alone for a while.

--As the evening winds down, everyone is thinking about the day's
events:

-Alan has a drink. (It is unclear if he took his pain pills as well) AJ
is watching him from the doorway, trying to figure out what is wrong
with his dad.

-Nik is standing on the parapet, thinking about Katherine and his uncle.
Alexis comes over to comfort him.

-At the PCPD, Stefan gets photographed and fingerprinted.

-Laura is staring out of the window, deep in thought.

- Lucky and Liz are sitting on a bench, by the docks. Lucky is worn out
after the trauma of the evening's events and leans on Elizabeth's
shoulder, dozing off. Liz strokes his hair and leans her head against
his.

-Also down at the docks, Luke lights a cigar and wonders how he can get
his family back together.
