From: earlye@ccnet.com (Angela Earlye) Subject: GH: Update for Tuesday, April 21, 1998 Date: 25 Apr 1998 04:26:14 GMT General Hospital Update for Tuesday April 21, 1998 I'm sorry for the delay. Last week I was on vacation. This week I started a new job. I wanted to catch up before my day to write the summary but just couldn't find the time. So, a little forewarning.... this summary was written without me seeing the entire week preceeding it. ON HELENA'S YACHT Lucky is snooping around a bit until he hears Helena's voice and he makes a beeline for the couch. Helena has a job for him. She wants him to do a little breaking and entering at Dara Jensen's office. (Luke is listening in via his bug). When Lucky voices minor reservations she wonders if he is up to the task. But Lucky wonders if she's trying to set him up to embarrass his father (surprised the ungrateful brat cares). It wouldn't bother him... but jail, on the other hand, that would bother him. Helena makes it clear that this little errand is of great importance to her and isn't a test. She pulls out some cash, letting him know that he'd be rewarded for his success. (Is is me, or did this jailbait suddenly get really really cute all of a sudden). IN THE COURTROOM: Bobby and Monica commiserate. Bobby thinks it will be a relief when Tony is behind bars although not a pleasure. Monica doesn't understand why some people are so eager to forgive Tony. She throws a look Felicia and Robin's way. Felicia and Robin try to pep each other up -- reminding themselves that they did the right thing. They remember WHO the real Tony Jones is while others want to just throw him away. Felicia admires Robin for showing the judge Tony's human side. Mac and Dara enter the courtroom. Mac wants to know how she thinks Robin's testimony went over. Three and a half hankies is her response. Dara worries about how the police will fare under scrutiny, specifically Taggart, who didn't seem to think medical attention was a top priority for Tony's broken hand. Mac hates sloppy police work and will fix that when he's PC again. (I guess Mac doesn't realize that once he's a soap cop again, he too will become incompetent!) AJ enters the courtroom, talking about his rough day in court. Alan thinks he did fine - he pointed the finger at Tony and kept the family out of it. Carly comes in and thanks AJ for his testimony. After what she did to him, he didn't have to do it. AJ just told the truth - a baby belongs with his parents. Jason arrives on that note. Edward and Ned are next to arrive. Edward thinks AJ did great on the stand by establishing pre-meditation and then some. The judge would not accept an insanity plea now. But Ned doesn't think Edward should speak to soon - Tony's lawyer is a shark and they are probably in for some surprises. He sure is...because the first order of the day is the judge announcing that Alexis Davis is now Tony's lawyer. A shocked buzz goes up in the courtroom. Ned looks especially perturbed. Edward yells at Alexis not to bother cleaning out her desk because they will be burning it. She's fired! Alexis confers with Tony. She doesn't think he should take the stand. If convicted he could get 40 years. That would mean no future for him. But he insists. She calls Tony to the stand. (More murmurs from the onlookers). She asks him if he was insane when he took Michael. He says no - absolutely not. On the stand, Tony talks about finding out he was going to be a father. It was like a rebirth for him since he had lost his own daughter. He talks of the effects her death had on his life. His life stopped and his marriage fell apart. Even his work became simply busy work. His entire life became about grief. With Carly's child, he was given permission to live again. (Tears flow down Bobby's cheeks as she listens.) Tony talks about the baby's impending birth and how that impacted his life - how he planned for it. He also took care of Carly, monitored her condition and made sure all of her needs were met. Carly doesn't quite agree as she whispers to Jason, "That's ridiculous. He had me working at GH all the way up to the last minute. I was lucky I didn't have Michael on my coffee break." LOL Tony continues that he loved Michael before he drew a single breath. Tony moves on to the breakup and Carly's announcement that Jason was the father. He thought she was lying until he found out their blood types were incompatible. He felt like he had lost another child. He also felt fear that Jason would put Michael's life in danger. He gave the example of Jason being shot in Mac's living room. Mac wonders what's going on. Dara thinks Alexis is going for some sort of custodial interference defense - and that would only bring Tony a sentence of a year. Mac isn't happy about this. Tony talks about the bodyguards - how Jason's way of life being no way to raise a child. He goes on to talk about Jason's trauma after the car accident - and the severe trauma he suffered and the brain damage. Tony insists he acted as a father would. He had no choice because he was trying to save Michael's life! (Tony had tears in his eyes through some of his testimony). Dara has no questions for Tony but reserves the right to call him later. Alexis has another witness - she calls Jason Morgan to the stand. Clearly surprised, Dara tries to fight it. Jason wasn't on the witness list or been disposed. As Alexis and Dara fight it out -- Justus tells Carly that Dara probably wants to portray Jason as an unfit parent. Carly (to Jason): OK, well, look, whatever you want to make up I'll go along with. Anything. Justus (to Carly): You didn't say that (and to Jason) and you didn't hear it. Now if she asks you anything about business you just plead the fifth amendment. Jason: My favorite one... Alan is finding the whole thing unbearable - in other words he needs a pill. Jason has to take the stand. Alexis tries to get him to admit his criminal lifestyle and that his life is dangerous. She brings up the drive by shooting at Luke's, Michael's bodyguards, the fact that Jason named Michael after Sonny Corinthos, his arrest record (23 arrests). Dara objects and I have to LOL as she has to say that the arrests were nuisance arrests and that Alexis hasn't proved that Jason is anything but a reputable business man. Justus passes a note to Taggart who passes it to Dara. It says -- Jason loves Michael. Get him to show it. Outside of the court -- Mac approaches Justus. He calls him damaged goods and tells him Dara doesn't need his help or want it. Dara questions Jason about the prices of Michael's baby things, Michael's birth, Michael's birth defect and present health, and doctor's info. She's trying to show that Jason is an involved parent. And Jason does a good job as he explains some of his "quality" time with Michael and their bonding experiences. Every body in the court is into his testimony especially Robin, Carly and Monica. Alan walks out of the courtroom to take a pill. Taggart watches him. Monica follows him out..she's very emotional because she thinks HER Jason is still in there. Hearing his loving testify is like her Jason never left. She THINKS Alan is feeling the same thing. Back in court, Dara's asking Jason about finding Tony. She asks him why he didn't kill Tony - the Jason that the defense described surely would have. Jason says he wasn't about to go to prison and be separated from Michael. Dara has no more questions. AT DARA'S OFFICE: Elizabeth catches Lucky breaking into Dara's office. She tries to talk him out of it - reminding him he could go to jail. Lucky gets Dara's office door open. He goes on in, shutting Elizabeth out. As she is about to leave Garcia walks up heading in the direction of Dara's office. Liz quickly stops him from entering by asking him questions about her case. She wants to go over it with him. Lucky listens as Liz saves his hide. Liz questions Garcia about "Not Another Word." She heard someone say that and she remembered that the rapist said something similar. Garcia wants to get her statement down on paper. They head back to his office. Next in the hallway outside Dara's office steps Luke. Inside, Lucky has found something... Dara's strategies (the paper had hearts all over it... since I haven't seen the show in a week I'm not sure the significance. I suspect Justus has something to do with that note.) Lucky leaves Dara's office just as Liz walks up and they make their exit. The ever watchful Luke had stepped out of sight so Lucky wouldn't see him. ON THE DOCKS Lucky is having fun -- he looks on stealing from Dara's office as a game of capture the flag. Liz seems to be having fun too -- she even forgot about the rape for a moment. Liz plays mother hen but Lucky tells her he knows what he's doing. And he learns young -- he's already saying what all the men say on soaps -- The less you know the better. She wants to know why he's working for Helena. He just wants to know whatever there is to know since her family has been wrapped around his for twenty years. Liz is going to wait for him. (On the docks..... alone..... SIGH) ON HELENA'S YACHT Lucky has turned over what he found in Dara's office and Helena pays him off. Lucky tries to question her about what she wants with Doctor Jones. Helena isn't overwhelmed by his cleverness. Helena: And now for your next assignment. Keep you eyes open and your mouth shut. Lucky crows that no one knows he was at the police station and nobody follows him unless he wants them too. (Ha ha... then I suppose he knows that Luke knows his every move!) ON THE DOCKS: Lucky meets up with Liz. He has money and he's ready to celebrate. He's celebrating that he's still around to celebrate and admits he was a bit worried. ON HELENA'S YACHT: Helena traces the fax number on Dara's crib sheet. IN COURT: Both Dara and Alex rest their cases. Everybody seems confident that Dara will succeed. Jason thanks her. Jason: I didn't know you were such a fan. Dara: Don't push it, ok! Carly thinks Jason's testimony will make things okay for Michael. Last to leave the courtroom is Alexis. Ned (with Luke hanging around in the background) wants to know WHO IS ALEXIS DAVIS. She says in time she'll be able to explain. Ned thinks she should take all of the time she needs - she'll have plenty of it. Luke gives her a look (I think it's a - you better get on my side against Helena look) and exits leaving Alexis alone, and visibly miserable.
